Silversmith Hotel & Suites - Chicago

This was my first time in Chicago and I couldn't have asked for a better hotel! I am in law school and was traveling for a moot court competition at the 7th Circuit...talk about convenience! Blocks away from everything you could need/want, located in a fantastic part of the Loop, and extremely close to public transportation. Room was so nice and the […] staff were incredible! This is one of my favorite hotels for Chicago. The redesign of this fabulous hotel back to original with some modern upgrades we absolutely beautiful. The room was very comfortable, the staff extremely helpful and friendly. I would recommend the Silversmith to all.

We had a lovely stay at The Silversmith for three nights in mid-February. After arriving on the overnight train, I was crossing my fingers for early check-in, and bless 'em, The Silversmith not only allowed us into a room at 1030am, but also bumped us up to a suite. The staff were friendly and helpful, with food recommendations and always […] a smile and hello as we passed. wifi was included in the rate, and everything was nice: not fancy, but certainly fine. The location is terrific: right near the Madison/ Wabash 'L', within a couple of minutes walk to Millennium Park, the Art Institute, the Cultural Centre and the office of the Chicago Architecture Foundation. With a transit pass, we were all over the city within minutes: Lakeview, Lincoln Park, Old Town, Mag Mile, Hyde Park. If you're looking for a bright and shiny new hotel, with a big gym, swimming pool, 60" satellite TV and room service, this ain't it. And if you want to spend your vacation time admiring the view from the hotel room, pick somewhere else (unless you're a fan of courtyards). BUT, if you're looking for a simple but comfortable stay in a great location at a reasonable price, I HIGHLY recommend The Silversmith. We're already planning a return trip to wonderful Chicago (if it can be wonderful in February, it should be glorious come summer!), and look forward to another stay at The Silversmith. Cheers! the hotel is situated in the heart of the loop. easy to get to and from airports. managed to see all the must-see sights and get to several of the neighbourhoods as well by cta. staff was courteous and helpful. one of the bell hops even carried our luggage up the stairs to the orange line when we were leaving. you will enjoy your stay. it was a pleasant […] home for us for 4 nights. highly recommend. We we very pleasantly surprised at how beautiful and comfortable this hotel was for the price. We booked last minute to attend the Midwinter Dental Convention at the Mcormick. The staff was very accommodating and very nice.

Spent three days in Chicago (Feb 18-20th, 2012) staying 2 nights at The Silversmith - great hotel experience. Extremely easy to find after getting the CTA from Midway airport, concierge on Saturday was extremely helpful, front desk & maintenance staff were efficient and friendly, room was clean & spacious (superior double I think) - got at a great rate […] via Hotels.com. Only very small issue was that the room was a bit warm. From the hotel, we walked to the Art Institute, Andy's Jazz Lounge, Grant Park, Millenium Park, Magnificent Mile, Navy Pier, and even the Planetarium on our last day. Had an intersting meal at the Flat Iron just down the street; Ada's on the street level of the hotel was convenient & reasonable for breakfast. Lots of shopping & plently of places to eat close to the hotel as well. Busy but good weekend - hotel great! Devamı

Outstanding, beautifully restored 19th century historic building by premier Chicago architect David Burnham! Even with the elevated train next door, we didn't hear a thing from our room. Staff was very warm, excellent location, it is a gem we will book again! Palmer House a block away, lots of self-park garages (expensive but expected).

My wife chose the Silver Smith for it's location. We saw that it had at least 4 stars and were pleased that it met those standards with us. We will be back!

Lovely historical building, very well maintained....great staff.....perfect for sightseeing Chicago on foot or catching the L....look forward to staying here again....

Visited this hotel while in town for the night to catch a show. Got there just a bit before 4 PM and wanted to catch dinner at 5-5:15 PM, which didn't leave much extra time. We were upgraded to a suite, which was great, but when they called up, the room was not yet clean. They said it would be 15 minutes, which was tolerable but not desirable... by […] 3:45-4:00 PM, the room should have been ready for check-in. Ended up waiting 45 minutes and had to rush like mad to get to dinner and the show on time. Other then that, room was nice and clean. If you don't like the sounds of the L going by every 2 or 3 minutes, I'd look elsewhere. Devamı

The hotel is very convenient to museums, theater, millennium park, and public transportation. The concierge services and staff were helpful. It would have been nice to have lobby coffee, but it is available down the street at a cafe'.

The only improvement I can think of would be to have good complimentary coffee in the lobby in the morning--6am to 9am. The coffee in the deli next door is not good in spite of the high price. Nothing else needs improved upon. I will definitely try to stay here every time I come to Chicago, which I hope is often!

The Silversmith Hotel is in a hard to find location of the Loop that I would not have come across on my own in the Jewelers District on Wabash Street. However, Hotels.com had a great deal that convinced me to give it a try. I am very satisfied with my stay in a standalone king room. The accommodations were clean, nice and simple. The room had a small […] but adequate television, refrigerator and safe. I had a good rest on a higher floor. The staff was very accommodating. The complementary fruit infused water, hard candies and USA Today newspaper in the lobby were nice touches. The lobby also had a piano and fireplace, but they were not in operation on the 2 days of my overnight stay. The location is fantastic - near the L train, Millennium Park, The Art Institute, State Street and the Theater District, with many good restaurants and stores within a short walking distance. I recommend this hotel to people who don't need and want to pay for an expensive Michigan Avenue address with their lodging in downtown Chicago. You will like this place. Devamı

We arrived late to Midway and all car rental places were closed but luckily I did my homework prior to trip and as backup plan chose this hotel because of the subway "Orange Line" drop off was right where it needed to be to haul luggage. The rooms are nice -- very spacious for the city and have really high ceilings. Nice linens, very clean room. The hotel has a huge lobby, which was a great place for our group to meet and hang out. Despite the location close to the train tracks, we didn't hear any noise from them. We were traveling with 2 other couples. Of the 3 rooms, 2 had extra […] charges on their bill when they checked out. One was charged for a movie they didn't order and another was charged for valet parking they didn't use. The front desk did eventually remove the charges. Be sure to check your bill if you stay here! Devamı

Our suite was beautiful and the hotel staff was very helpful. The location is perfect if you need quick access to the "L". The hotel is only a block from Millenium park and Michigan Ave and is also within 5 minutes walking distance from the Chicago Institute of Art.

I was pleasantly surprised with this hotel. The staff was very helpful and made you feel very welcome as they met you at the door. There was always someone to greet you when you returned. It was an old building so it was a little unusual with the lobby on the second floor. The room was especially nice. The price was great! The lobby staff was very helpful in directing us to events in the city which we might enjoy. We took advantage of one of the suggestions and it turned out to be one of our most memorable times.

I really liked this hotel. It's right around the corner from the Palmer House, from the Art Institute, next to the El stop (Madison & Wabash) and the Red LIne (Monroe + State). They put me on the 10th floor facing away from the street and it was quiet. It's very pretty inside with the classic Chicago commercial style. Too bad the hotel is amazing, but very noisy. We were on the 7th floor in the back of the hotel (lane), and we could hear all the garbage trucks coming back and forth all night, I thought that perhaps the window was opened, but no. I came to Chicago for a concert and for fun. This hotel rocks. Front desk was wonderful and helpful. A young blond lady checked me in and was super friendly. The hotel is next to the subway which I loved. Red and blue lines are a block away but that was totally fine. Close to the park and shopping. A great hotel in a great town. Because we were riding the South Shore from NW Indiana and didn't want to have our luggage with us during the day, we were able to drop it off and spend the afternoon "hands free" before our dinner and theater evening. The staff was friendly and very helpful. We'll be back!

I've stayed at a number of downtown Chicago hotels and this has been the best so far. It was in a perfect spot around the corner from Macy's, the art Museum and Millennium Park. The room was ENORMOUS, especially considering what we paid. Our window looked right out on the L-Train, but the noise didn't bother me at all. It sounds like waves crashing […] outside of a beach house. I actually found it relaxing. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful and the front door valet/guys were great. The price of the overnight valet was definitely worth the money. Our car was at the front door within 10 minutes of calling down every time. The only draw back for some may be the lack of fancy-smansy LCD televisions in the rooms, but the last thing I was interested in was watching TV. We will definitely be staying at Silversmith every time we go to Chicago. Devamı

Great location - close to Millenium Park- simply remember to ask for the higher floors to be away from some of the "el" (elevated public trains) noise. Although- I ended up liking the low rumbles- somewhat comforting! Door person staff and front desk staff were extremely helpful and friendly- Also a great dinner/breakfast cafe about 1/2 block south […] on Wabash which makes excellent carryout. This hotel is a hidden gem in a very convenient location downtown, nearby to the loop and Millenium park. Minimally noisy because the train is across the street, but incredibly convenient because the train is across the street! Rooms are spacious and comfortable, and nicely decorated. I'd stay again if the opportunity presented itself.

A convenient hotel for walkers or taking mass transit.

Excellent location, one block from most main streets (eg Michigan), can easily walk to Millenium Park; the famous Giordano's pizza & Al's beef is just 2 blocks away; very welcoming staffs, responded to my concerns or request immediately and offered suggestions. Will definitely book Silversmith next time I go to Chicago.

Great hotel, great staff, very close to all the attractions. We were fortunate enough to get a great rate as well, which made the value great too.

Perfect! Staff is very helpful and professional! I requested for an item, in less than 5 minutes, the item was delivered and in less than 2 minutes, front desk called to ensure that I received what I requested for. The hotel decor is exquisite! The wooden panel and lobby furnishings - very elegant yet homey. The room simple yet comfortable - with free […] Wifi - cannot ask for more. We throughly enjoyed our stay and the help that Patricia gave us at the front desk. She was very pleasent and very helpful. This was our 10th time visiting the Silversmith and we have always recommended your hotel to family and friends.

We had an event to attend at a hotel near the Silversmith, but didn't want to pay the price to stay there---then we found the SIlversmith. Having stayed at the other place before, we can say that the Silversmith is actually NICER than the alternative, with larger rooms, friendlier and accomodating staff, and of course a much nicer price. The next time […] we're coming to stay in the Loop or Theater District area of Chicago, we will look to the Silversmith first! Devamı

Great hotel and perfect location in the middle of Chicago loop. Right next to an El train station for access to the rest of the city. Staff was great.

This is a charming hotel in a very convenient loop location. The room was very nice and the personnel helpful and friendly.

Close to several landmarks. Parking is a major issue. Finding affordable parking nearby should be a concern while booking this hotel
