Great location just off of 8th and 51stW. Very close to everything we wanted to see and visit. Hotel rooms are small but clean and do the trick. If you're planning on staying in the room often or have a ton of stuff you might want bigger rooms, but otherwise this is as good as you might expect from a hotel in this range. Other reviews said rooms are small. I thought it was about average. However there are virtually no amenities. Your heating is old radiators and cooling is a dorm style window air conditioner. The bed was a 1/4" peice of pressboard with a matress on top. The hotel just seems like something from the late 1800s that has had very minor upgrades. Comfortable beds.

It was a nice spot close to theaters, dining, MOMA, subway - pretty street and good basic room. We were upgraded to mini suite which was very comfortable.

Just got back from a week staying at the Washington Jefferson and we would happily return there. The room was tiny, even by New York standards, but it was clean and in good repair. I spent four nights at the Wshington Jefferson Hotel, and had a great stay. The staff were very friendly and helpful. It is close to some excellent eateries on 9th Av. and an easy walk to Broadway, Central Park and MoMA, as well as many other attractions that are nearby. On my last night it was a bit noisy between 1 and 3am, but I would attribute that […] more to the lack of consideration of the people in the neighbouring room. The decor is dated, and about ready for some modernisation, but it's not unpleasant - and there's so much to do in NYC that time spent in one's room is likely to be minimal. I opted for the standard room - one size above petite - and would describe that as compact, and definitely wouldn't want anything smaller; however I don't know how much smaller a petite room is. My daughter and I have stayed here four Aprils in a row. The amount of free floor space in the two-bed rooms, but the room is clean and everything works. Can't beat the location: 8 blocks to Central Park for good morning runs; theater district right out the door; and 9th Avenue has lots of eating venues that are a little cheaper/less crazy than 8th […] or 7th. Room was a classic NY-tiny (which was fine) and the bathroom was new fixtures and clean, which was great. No temperature control in room, so was a little hot (April), had to sleep with window open; thankfully not too noisy. A very good value.

I only stayed in this hotel for 1night but i was very satisfied with the hotel accomodations. Thank you!!

At check-in we got a room that was the smallest hotel room I have ever seen. It was so tight that the bed only had a bed table on one side. The closet was really small, to be homest this room was not suited for two adults. On top of that the noise from the street was reall ybad, due to the air conditioin being mounted in the window with poor noise isolation […] as result. We got a new room the following day with two separate beds, this was a larger room with two seperate beds, a large closet and a larger bath room with a hot tub. Besides the hazze with the room the hotel was good, free wifi and good overall service! The surroundings are good, lot of good restaurants on 9th avenue! If you are thirsty or want a good burger, House of brews is located just 50m from the hotel. Devamı

This hotel is small but very conveniently located near two subway stops, restaurants, delis, drug stores and walking distance from the Theater District, Times Square, Radio City Music Hall and Rockefeller Center. My only complaint is that the room was very small and there was hardly space to store clothing and other belongings.

Nice little hotel close to Time Square, friendly staff and always doing their best to help the visitor. Rooms were small, but all was there and every day cleaning and new towels were a great plus. Will be back soon!!!

I like to spend my NYC visits walking to the parks, squares and museums and the central location of WJ is the perfect starting point.

You cannot beat the location! This hotel is well maintained and clean. The staff are extremely helpful! Be warned however that the rooms are TINY--extremely difficult for 2 people to dress at the same time. Also, there are virtually no surfaces to place toiletries and things on and very little room for clothes. Still I would stay here again.

Hotel was very convenient, but the room was even tinier than I guessed after reading other reviews - like an office cubicle. Room was dusty, and the hotel overall needs a clean-up and refurbishment. Hotel staff was very friendly and helpful, which was a big plus.

Bathrooms very clean, room ok (rugs old), bed ok comfort, housekeeping staff is super nice, front desk peeps ok. I'm not sure why this hotel has gotten such high marks bc it's just ok. My room was very small, but, wasn't bad. Nothing to write home about but not terrible either. It was inexpensive and clean, and that was enough.

Modern decor, great location, right price for an overnight stay in heart of mid-town.

Location couldn't be better for shows etc. Rooms very comfortable. Warning -- if you book a petite it is REALLY petite. Like no desk. I upgraded to a slightly larger room with a desk to work at, and it was great.

This is a perfect hotel for spending a vacation near Broadway. We stayed in a standard room with a queen bed; it's small -- but hey, this is NYC. It's clean and comfortable, with a modern bathroom. When there was too much construction noise on the street outside our room, the front desk went out of its way to give us a better room. (the rooms on the […] backside are quieter). The service is top notch and staff is friendly. Something for you to know: if you want the heat turned on or turned off, inform the desk. If you need a/c, if there's not a unit in your room, they will bring you one. It was unseasonably warm while we were there, and the a/c worked great. The hotel wi-fi is free. The location is so convenient if you are going to Broadway shows. An excellent value and good service. We will definitely stay there again and recommend it to you. Devamı

Great location, fast check-in, nice room with pristine bathroom, great for a week in the city, great price for what you get, recommended.

This is my second stay at this hotel, and I choose it because I am in NY for meetings which was held at the Sheraton nearby on 7th Avenue. It is also near enough to Times Square and surrounding shops nearby have a good selection of restaurants and shopping. I am always happy with my stays at this hotel. Efficient, cordial, practical, perfect for a business stay.

Very close to Times Square (we walked everywhere). Good pricing, comfortable, clean rooms. Friendly staff. Only one negative comment is that the room was very small, but we couldn't complain because we booked this last minute and just wanted a place to sleep. Would recommend!

Love the location, front desk personnel are helpful. But I had no internet for two days - a huge problem for me having to work. They apologized - and left a phone message and gave me a Starbucks gift card. The rooms are really tiny and could use a freshening with paint and/or new wallpaper. This is our third time at the WJ Hotel. We love the location, close to subways and other major NYC sites. The room size is very small, however, after a few days, we adjusted and all was well. The hotel staff are very accommodating. We highly recommend this hotel to those who want a central location for an affordable price.

The title says it all, it was clean and comfortable and the staff were incredibly helpful. Close to where I needed to be and a short walk from the subway for getting elsewhere.

While the hotel is conveniently located and the staff was very friendly, the city was engaged in night-time street and sewage repair, and the noise level was intollerable. I would recommend a person call to check on whether there's such activities before booking a room.

Rooms are small but clean and the service was excellent. Neighborhood was safe at all hours and near a subway station.

The rooms are small, but that is normal in most Manhattan hotels. The rooms are clean, fresh, and modern. The only complaint I have is that the mattresses are extra firm. The staff is friendly and provides excellent customer service. I would stay here again.

First, let me say that I love this hotel and will return. While the room was small, I knew it would be ahead of time and, for the price, it was absolutely perfect. The location is terrific for midtown; close enough to everything while still tucked away on a not-too-busy side street. The room and bathroom were immaculate. The bedding was fresh and white […] and had no flowery smell or starchiness. The down comforter (while it was too hot in the room to use it) was lovely. The single bed was perfectly comfortable. While my room lacked any view — it faced a "courtyard" — it was very quiet, which is important to me when I travel. When I'm in NYC, I'm in my room so little that a view would be wasted on me anyway. The only drawback was that the room was far, far, far too hot (I stayed in mid-February). The heating system is an old forced hot water (I think), and so can't be adjusted in the room. It was also noisy upon coming on or shutting off, but this wasn't much of an issue. I remedied the overheated room problem by opening the window a bit, and then was comfortable enough to sleep. The hotel should add a luggage rack in each room. Because it's so small and has only a small chifferobe for storage, a folding luggage rack for a suitcase would be quite useful. The hotel was in a fantastic location to times sq, 5th ave and central park, with a nice bar on the corner and a cheap coffee shop and the greswin theatre a stones throw away. Good subway links. The hotel was v clean with beautiful bathrooms, pleasant staff and comfty beds...brilliant trip, staying here again on my next visit. :)

checked into a room with 2 beds...it had a very small bathroom, had to put my carry-on on the chair and my friend put hers on top of the closet and her big suitcase in the closet (no room!) but other than that, i liked it. location was great! 4 nights there and only was in the room to sleep/watch tv at night. had a good stay.

We have just returned from a 4 night stay at The Washington Jefferson. We had been upgraded to a deluxe twin apparently, although I did not see anything deluxe about the room. It was approx 3.5m by 3.5m with 2 small beds and a small wardrobe approx 1m by .50m with 1 drawer. We were extremely dissapointed with the size of the room for 2 people for 4 […] nights and had to keep our clothes in the case for the stay. The shower room was very small with no space for even a wash bag! I would not have liked to be in a standard room if this was a deluxe! When I complained the staff were very civil, although it did not change our situation. On the plus side the staff were very pleasant, the room was warm and quiet but worn and the hotel was very conveniently situated for transport, restaurants, sights and shops. Devamı

hotel is excellently located in the heart of midtown/theater district. Close to all transit trains and bus lines. small rooms and bath but completely renovated with good linens and towels. lighting in the bathroom was inadequate, but moved a desk lamp into the bathroom to see to shave.
