I believe this hotel is get for the price. It is very convenient to the downtown bath house district. It is within walking distance to many shops and restaurants. Staff is very helpful in suggestions and directions to locates attractions. BUT even if they are only 1/2 full they will NOT extend your stay, not even 2 hours. Must have been a great motel during the Eisenhower administration, but it's only redeeming factor now is the location. Carpets very soiled, very worn, held down with tape. The elevator was like playing at a craps table. Will I win by arriving safely? Thermostat in my room at two choices, Hades hot and Yukon cold. The shower handles were loose and leaking. Bathroom stopper was nor working. Walls has dusty lint on corners by bed. Front desk gave us a smoking room when non smoking was requested. Advertising in room restaurant that be out of business.

I only have a couple of complaints. I booked the hotel online, when I arrived at the hotel, I was told that I had to put down a $50 deposit on the room. Nothing online said anything about this. Also, we were initially booked into a smoking room, my online reservation clearly stated a non-smoking room.

The hotel service was very friendly and courteous. You can tell the hotel has been around for a while, and some conditions at the hotel is showing considerable aging, however overall conditions were good. The only drawbacks were a drain stopper missing from the bathtub and no continental breakfast. Also, the air conditioner fan blows right on the beds, […] so it's hard to stay comfortable while sleeping. We surely enjoyed our stay at this hotel! Staff was friendly and pool was FUN! You can beat the price while on vacation. We will stay there again soon!

great hotel. Would recommend highly. Very clean and pleasant smelling. Couteous staff.

We had to personally clean the room (with our own bought supplies) prior to being able to even reside in the room. The hotel is in disrepair, but the pool is in great shape. The hotel needs major remodeling! Pay a little more to stay towards the newer side of town!

We liked the convenience of the hotel being close to the historic district. The hotel side that faced the Bumper Cars was a little noisy. The swimming pool was refreshing. Phil's Restaurant located inside the Howard Johnson property served quality food options with economical pricing.

The room was nice and clean. Didn't like that we asked for the bed linens to be changed and they didn't, they just made the bed up. I wanted them changed because I had dropped chocolate on them, not because I just wanted them changed. When we returned to the room I was surprised that they only gave us clean towels. Terrible!!!! The hotel common areas were filthy and raggedy. The carpeting was soiled and torn. The hallways were stained along with the ice machine and elevator areas. The front desk staff didn't seem to be concerned when I reported these things. He just said he would tell the manager whenever she came in. When I reported all this to the front desk […] and said didn't want to stay there (five minutes after entering my room) they threatened to charge a fee for checking in then immediately checking out. I only stayed because I was along and My company prepaid. I didn't want my company to be charged money by this unconcerned establishment. The pictures on the internet looked fine. They were deceiving. I will not stay there again and I will be very slow to trust Hotels.com again. Hotels.com!! Do yourself a favor and avoid this dump. The hotel is in disrepair. The rooms are dirty. The staff was not helpful. The only bright spot was the restaurant. Very good food!

After reading the negative reviews on this hotel, my expectations were a little low. Upon arrival and check in, my mind was changed. The hotel was clean and convenient, also the customer service was excellent.

It was the absolute worst place I've ever stayed in. The Quality of the hotel was embarrassing. Then I get to the room on a day when the heat index was over 100 and the AC wasn't working. I called the front desk and told them about the air and they couldn't do anything about it. I finally go down to the front desk and they move me to another room. The […] bathroom was ridiculous. I didn't even want to take a bath because it was so nasty. Then I leave the hotel only to get charged $25 because 3 drying towels supposedly came up missing. I call the hotel to see why my card was charged and the lady was extremely rude on the phone. I only stayed one night and I felt like I was completely ripped of my money. The location was relatively good - it only took my friends and me about 5-10 minutes to walk from the hotel to downtown Hot Springs. The price was okay also. The beds were comfortable and served their purpose. The elevators and stairwells smelled awful; I had to hold my noise every time I used them. Our room's floor was wet when we first arrived; part […] of the carpet was peeling from the floor as a result. One of my friends was able to close her room door and stick nearly her whole hand underneath the door. The room door had a broken lock so the room did not have the extra security of the slide lock. This place definitely wasn't the best place I've stayed in, but it's good for people on a budget like me. It looks very old and the elevator smelled pretty awful. But it's very close to the downtown area which is what we wanted.

We booked this hotel as a last-minute trip. It is close to downtown attractions. While the room was comfortable enough, it lacked some of the amenities we are used to in a hotel. No microwave, no fridge. The proximity to attractions was a trade-off to the closeness of the traffic of two main thoroughfares.
