Americas Best Value Inn and Suites - San Luis Obispo

Hey, this is definitely a low-end motel with lots of party-going Cal Poly students filling adjoining rooms. Rooms are certainly nothing to get excited about, but to their credit, at least they're clean. Best thing about the place is its proximity to lovely downtown SLO. You can easily walk across the Santa Rosa St bridge down to Higuera St where all […] the action is: shopping, dining, the San Luis Creek, the Mission, etc. My perspective was the motel room was simply a place to crash - sleep and shower. For this purpose it was functional, but it's certainly not the kind of space you'll want to hang out in--unless you're a drunken college kid. Devamı

When I arrived to check-in, I walked into the front office and a buzzer went off on the door. Assuming that my entry had already been announced, I waited for several moments at the counter since I could hear activity just beyond the other wall. Nope, eventually had to ring the bell for service. Her attitude could best be described as brusque. I assume […] this is cultural, but it doesn't make you feel any more welcome. A male appeared during the transaction and he was no more gracious. My room was basic cheap hotel quality. It had everything I needed to stay over night and take a shower in the morning. I was a bit disturbed that the plastic bowl contained no disposable plastic liner, which seems standard. Could have been a simple oversight. I figured that wouldn't protect me from whatever was probably lurking in the ice dispenser anyway, so I made do. Otherwise just your basic cheap hotel quirks: toilet seemed to run constantly, hot and cold reversed in shower, someone thought it would be a good idea to install motion-sensing wall switches that don't really work, fluorescent light over sink missing cover and took ages to warm up. The room did also have that heavy odor that old hotel rooms pick up; I think that's why so many people say their room smelled like it was a smoking room even though it was non-smoking. I've had worse cheap hotel experiences, at higher prices. So all in all, this place served its function. I was a little annoyed that the Internet service died around midnight and didn't come back until the morning. I probably could have called them, but just generally wanted to have as little to do with the office staff as possible, after my first couple interactions with them. I guess the feeling is mutual because when I went to drop off the key I could hear them again, just on the other side of the wall. I'm sure they could hear me too. It was convinetly by the 101 and very close to downtown. The hotel wasn't a 5 star, but it was nice. The staff was okay, they can be friendly but whatever we needed they were there. The room was nice. The microwave, fridge and bed was good. The bathroom was good. No broken sinks, mold and the bedding wasn't old. I would totally stay there again. My […] boyfriend and I had a great time. It was cheap and the room was good. The only thing was if you used the sink while someone is taking a shower it would get really hot or cold. The toliet was broken, it took forever to flush and refill itself. But I would recommend this hotel if you're trying to save money and stay a weekend at slo! Devamı

If you don't care, and you're just looking to stay nearby the downtown area, it's ok....JUST ok. Bring your own blanket, the one of the bed is paper thin. If you don't, you'll freeze. Great price for the location

simple- basic- served the purpose but would not return or recommend.

Bedding and linens were very old. The shower control came off and was mold on the control. Inconvenient to plug in the microwave. Bathroom fan very noisy. Ice machine was very dirty looking.

The area was sold out and I chose this place because it was located close to Cal Poly Campus. The Inn looked OK from the outside and the price was reasonable. I was not informed about the star rating when I booked it. The room was old, dreary, and very outdated. The beds were old and very uncomfortable. Tables were shoved against the wall. It was clean […] but very old and the condition of the carpet made it look awful. There was an old fence outside behind our room so we were afraid to open windows. Our door stuck so bad we could hardly open and close it. We did arrive late at night, and when we asked for an extra sheet so our child could sleep on a mat on the floor we were stared at and at first they said no. Breakfast was OK in the am. I would never recommend this Inn to anyone. I have used Hotels.com before and never had this problem, I feel when an area is sold out you should reveal the star rating to the customer so they are not so suprised when they arrive. Devamı

Location was good, rooms were adequate for the price we paid, which was internet discounted. Bed spreads were worn with cigarette burns in them. Bed was reasonably comfortable but pillows were way too small. Bathtub drain had left-over gunk that surfaced once the water was turned on. Only one table and two chairs were available for the "breakfast" so […] we had to eat standing up. Only one type of cold cereal available, only white bread for toast (who eats white bread these days???), no fruit, weak coffee. OJ and waffle were good. Devamı

Other reviews were bad when I read about this hotel, was a little scared to see what I had gotten myself into. When we got there, we checked in without any delays. Our room was ready, and clean. Not the Ritz, but a good place to stay and the price was right for us. Location was excellent for us taking our son to move in @ Cal Poly SLO, we were right […] off the road we needed to drive up to get to campus (not more than 1 mile away from campus). Freeway to get home was right by the hotel, very easy on ramp access. Good continental breakfast, consisted of waffles,cereal, toast, OJ, milk and coffee. Good restaurants nearby, easily 5 restaurants within a block; 2 are fast food chains and 3 are local restaurants----good food. Would recommend it for a short stay, if you're looking for luxury, book with a big chain hotel. Was happy with price and remember, if you're from out of state, California is a little more expensive, and we have tax for everything. Don't be scared off by all those bad reviews, this is a good place to stay for the humble. Devamı

Our room was very spacious! My 2 children had a desk and a nice play area in the room. The closet was larger then I expected it to be too. The staff was friendly and accommodating. I also liked how the shower curtian rod was curved so it doesn't stick to you. It was right off the freeway, but we didn't hear any traffic from inside the room. Bathroom window would not lock or close,screen torn, towels very small and cheap.

Management and staff displayed such a professional manner in running this hotel in San Luis Obipso, CA that any time we will be going to central California we will most definitely stay at that hotel

I'm sorry but I was totally dissatisfied with the condition of my room. The sink was cracked and the water leaked out the bottom. The floor had lumps in it that was covered by the carpet but you could feel it when you walked over them. I don't thinkit was worth half of what I paid. Could have been more affordable considering it wasn't particularly nice or near downtown.

I have no idea about the hotel; we never stayed there. The people on the phones (for whichever website booked us over the phone) booked us into a hotel that was completely full. At about 1130pm we called the hotel for directions only to discover the wonderful news: we have no place to sleep. When we called to try to get a new room, we were told that […] because it was already past 12 midnight on the east coast they could not get us a room (even though it 1130 on the west coast). We drove around and found cheaper hotel by going door to door (or office to office). Over all, the booking service was terrible. I will never use this website or phone service again. This hotel was conveniently located for a visit to Cal Poly. The farmer's market downtown was close by as well. We felt safe and comfortable. Affordable too.

One of the qualities that I considered in making reservations at this location was its advertised continental breakfast. However, the advertised continental breakfast was not as it is at other hotels/motels. Here the breakfast consisted of a plastic container of cornflakes, white bread, milk, coffee and orange juice. Did not give us Bath Towels, we asked for Non-smoking room and it reaked of smoke. The pillows were flat and hard. Seriously, I would not have them under Hotels.com.

We stayed one night. It was convenient to our destination, but lacked warmth, hospitality and general comfort. The room was clean enough, recently been remodeled, but they should call back their contractor. Door to bath did not close due to not being trimed after tile was installed. The hot and cold water in the shower was backwards, the shower head […] sprayed water out into the room, the cover on the light over the sink was off and the carpet was installed over bumps under the carpet. The other guests had similar situations. For the price, it was not what we expected. Quality, cleanliness, and friendliness, should not have to come with a high price tag. Parking was not adequate for the guests. We will not return and we will probably not use America's Best Value Inn and Suites because of this experience. Devamı

This hotel was joke. We got there st 11pm exhausted from long drive up the coast only to find the doors locked. So, we called from the outside phone and the manager came but she was not friendly. The rooms were VERY basic and the air conditioner did not work well. My favorite part was the washer and dryer that sat outside the hotel. The room smelled like moldy cigarettes even though it was a non-smoking room. The continental breakfast was less-than-adequate. However, it was very close to the freeway and downtown SLO. Also it was inexpensive, but I guess you get what you pay for.

Stayed in the two room suite for a great price. Hotel was generally clean, and the room was basic but a great value. Breakfast was limited but no big deal. Conveniently located.

Sheets and bedspread had stains on them, Bathroom to smaill, Cbreakfast little to choose from. WIFI connections didn't work. If your just looking to sleep and don't care about stains, ok, but don't take your wife or GF to impress.

very old hotel and the room price was way out of line. Continental breakfast was horrible. Instant coffee used. Ugh!

The hotel itself was great my only concern is the customer service attendant in the front desk. He was rude and seemed to be annoyed by my arrival and questions of where the room is located. I believe I will use the brand, but I will never stay in that location in San Luis Obispo.

It is what it is. Old but clean

Traveling for business and they knew I was going to be arriving very late at night. I arrived almost 2 hours prior to what I thought I would be there, and the night clerk was extremely rude when we checked in. The room was sweltering hot, no air was running. The beds and pillows were horribly uncomfortable. Went to take a shower the next morning, and […] the tub / shower combo didn't work. Only a small amt of water came up to the shower, and only one temp....HOT. Water was clear over to the cold side, and still too hot. The towels were stained and dingy....so much to the point, that we went and bought our own for the rest of our stay. Extremely noisy hotel. Middle of night people were laughing and yelling. The cleanliness was not there at all....what appeared to be mold on the walls and way too much dust and grime for my liking. And to think I passed up a Marriott just a mile away to save $30. The "Continental" Breakfast was a juice machine and old fruit in a bowl. and there was only one small table for 2 in the lobby. Thin walls...could hear all kinds of activity in the room next to us. This was NOT a 3 star rated hotel as indicated. My first indication should have been the front desk area -- is had a funky odor. While it was clean it didn't smell clean. The room--while it was neat and clean, there was an exposed electrical box near the airconditioner/heater, a handle on the dresses was hanging and the hair dryer was missing. A notation […] in the description about this inn was that it was remodeled. My question is when? I'm glad it was only for 1 night because that was all I could do to stay there and in addition, it was noisy and just not what I would have thought as a 3 star inn (and where were the suites?). I had no problems with the hotel. It was clean and comfortable and not looking for anything special. I just needed a place to spend the night and it was great for me!

Good value for the $. The large, two room (King, Queen) "suite", was perfect for a family. Fridge, microwave, television, iron, etc... were in good working condition. New paint outside and inside. The beds were comfortable and staff was friendly. Renovation included new fixtures, granite counter for sink. Staff were happy to extend check out by an hour […] from 11am until noon. Improvements needed: The carpet was worn at best, dingy at worst. The breakfast was limited: Coffee, Juice, Toast, 1 kind of generic cereal. No surprises, not a three star, but a good value. Devamı
