HOTEL PARIS RIVOLI - Paris

Very good recommendation. My only issue with the room (I didn't mind the small) was that the bathrooms had no convenient shelves or hooks for toilet articles, towels, etc. Made for some juggling of toilet articles. The only negative was the very small room and bathroom. With a very small wardrobe there was no way to completely unpack two small suitcases and there was no place to put them. Also you couldn't keep the wardrobe open and open the bathroom door at the same time. Although the hotel promised cable tv, only one station sometimes worked (a french station) […] and the people at the desk said that was how it was. The hotel is in an excellent location for visiting Paris and close to a superb range of cafes/bars. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. There are only two critisms - one of the twin rooms was below standard e.g. curtains hanging off the rail, stained bedspread and shower hanging off the wall (the other room we hired the shower needed attention […] also) and the breakfast area was extremely squashed. The location of this hotel is fantastic as it lies between the Bastille and the Marais. I received a warm welcome despite being a day late and the front desk staff was always helpful. The room was small and had a slanted beam which made it necessary to pay attention while walking around. Hotel is in a fantastic location - just across the road from the Marais district - and a lovely walk to the river etc. Great cafes/bars directly behind hotel as well - with locals not just tourists. Only slight surprise was twin beds pushed together in a double room. But it did mean my hubby and I slept fantastically as didn't wake each other up as […] usual. The Hotel Paris Rivoli is a small no-frills hotel right on the rue de Rivoli in the Marais. If you need only a place to leave your bags and sleep at night, it's perfect. There is so much to do in Paris that I was only in my room to sleep anyway. Who cares how many tv stations they get? I had a room on the first floor (what Americans call the 2nd floor) […] on the rue de Rivoli, and had no problems with street noise. I also have a cranky back, and had no problems with the mattress. The hotel staff were all very friendly. Because my flight arrived at 7:00am, they offered to hold my bags and gave me a specific time when my room would be ready, and it was. I'm pretty self-reliant, so I never asked for help from them, and can't comment on how helpful they are otherwise. The hotel does have free wifi and the desk clerk needs to give you an access code -- it changes on Mondays so if you stay over a Monday you'll have to go get a new code at the desk (no big deal). There are cafes and patisseries within steps of the front door, so I can't imagine why anyone would pay to eat overpriced croissants in this or any hotel dining room, but some people did. The hotel is about midway (2 blocks either way) between the Hotel de Ville and St Paul metro stops, both on line 1. The transfer to the RER-B to DeGaulle (transfer at Chatelet-Les Halles) was remarkably easy, but if you have tons of luggage you should go by cab to avoid all the stairs. Otherwise the Metro gets you everywhere fast. And the hotel is right in the Marais, which is beautiful around every corner. The hotel is also an easy walk to the Ile de la Cite (Notre Dame, etc) and the Seine. I'm a single woman traveling alone with a big expensive camera, and I never had a single worry about safety either in the hotel or in the immediately surrounding neighborhood. I'd like to sample other neighborhoods in Paris, but if I stay in the Marais again I'll definitely consider this hotel and will recommend to others. Devamı
