Nice quiet room with very nice bed and bedding. Could use more electrical outlets or electric update. Sockets and outlets are quite old upgrade to include USB connection in desk area would be great. Trolley runs by right out front door so very convenient to get around.

couldn't ask for a better location, walking distance to every were (ok bit of a seedy area at night) but over all I felt safe walking around. older style hotel with comfy rooms and clean. if you are a walker like me every were is easy to find, major shops to the wharf area and public transport right at the door, for the price I would highly recommend […] this place Devamı

Peeling wall paper, extra firm mattress, and rather dark halls made for an unpleasant stay. Very audible construction at 7am easily wakes any sleeper. Located conveniently near the BART and MUNI, Hotel Whitcomb is in a day-night location. Easy access to places during the day; but by night strange people stare at you from the shadows, some start following […] you. I even witnessed a girl's purse snatched from her arms right on the street next to the hotel. I've never felt scared like this before, even after staying in Chicago and Detroit. Devamı

I stayed here one night for a quick trip to see a friend. The hotel is pretty much right outside BART's UN/Civic Center Station. Be careful if you stay here; the hotel while in a potentially convenient spot is not in the best neighborhood. There are lots of questionable people loitering around the area. The hotel itself is pretty old and in need of […] a complete renovation. Awful. Noisy, smelly, dirty. Poor facilities, no care taken on interior. Very tired and very poor condition. Scary location with lots of undesirable people around the entrance. How it has 3.5 out of 5 is a mystery. I would give it 1 and that's only because it was warm and dry. Needs a lot of work doing to it.

The hotel is VERY "old San Francisco". It's beautifully maintained, and the amenities are nice, but nothing above and beyond. Also, because of it's age, the building and rooms are a wee bit small, but It was no bother to me and my two friends. Given the proximity to DT and city activities, I think this hotel is great for a one or two night stay. Just […] not for someone looking to relax IN the room. Devamı

The hotel is gorgeous, and the staff is very good, but the rooms are small for longish stays, and I really miss a coffee maker in the room. I like room service butthere is a Starbucks right downstairs.

Was in a superior queen room but had no coffee maker; hotel is older and reflected in the decor--felt 'old' not historic. Unable to find bellman to help with getting taxis. Lighting was dark and scarce. Did not feel comfortable on the street at night as a single woman.

I hate this place...stayed here 3x due to location to our expo site and each time it sucked for some reason. Our room this time was clean and yes...it is locally convenient, but the price is NOT justified by the service. Their valet situation sucks! No bell-hop to assist us with multiple bags...we had to find our own cart. Also, every time we called […] to front desk to order our car they lame gal stated she would call the valet directly to pull our vehicle...and NEVER did. In addition, I asked to speak to the hotel manager and the man at the front desk told me to walk around and visit him in his office vs the manager coming out to speak with us. We often stay very nice hotels and for the amount this place charges (major bucks) for rooms the service is a joke! We will NEVER stay here again. Good luck to you Whitcomb! Devamı

The hotel exterior and interior public spaces are beautiful but the guest rooms are very small with bathrooms that are little more than closets. The bathroom fixtures are primitive and awkward. The surrounding neighborhood is rundown and populated with homeless and beggars. Why go here? The discounted room price vs the market does not justify the lack […] of value. Management is obviously biding their time, waiting for the surrounding neighborhood to improve before they undertake the massive renovation this place needs. Devamı

Overall, not great. Only 2 of the 4 elevators work - and they're slow. So you take the stairs, but the stairs require you to walk around the elevators on every floor, so it's also slow and tedious. I had a "normal" room, which was dated, the windows didn't close all the way, and there is construction next door which woke me up at 4:30 in the morning. […] Water pressure was low and the neighborhood isn't so good. It is a classic European style hotel, full of history, but well maintained. One step away from the BA station, quite convenient. But at the same time, it is a bit noisy if you need absolute quiet environment to sleep. The room is a little chilly. But you may ask for additional blanket.

Hotel staff was great. Beautiful Lobby. Felt very safe despite many homeless persons loitering outside. Room very small and slight odor, but overall seemed clean.

The Whitcomb Hotel is conveniently located within walking distance from the City Hall and Union Square and not too far away from Fishermans Warf. The street car runs right outside the hotel. In the evening/night there's quite a few unpleasant characters hanging around the neighborhood. The hotel itself is worn down and needs a complete make over. E.g. […] the beds are worn out and feels more like a hammock than a bed. The elevators are old and extremely slow so expect long waiting times. The cleaning standard is only as good as it can be with old carpets everywhere in rooms and hallways. Devamı

Nice hotel in a convenient location. Very good service and lovely vintage features. Situated just Steps from transit was very convenient for business. Nice rooms updated and clean. Overall a good value and charming hotel.

I brought friends from out of town to stay here for the weekend and they were very satisfied with their stay. The only problem, and it's a small one, is that the hotel was so busy it was a 15-minute wait to check in because the line was so long. Otherwise, the hotel staff is friendly and helpful, the rooms are clean and comfortable and the building […] itself is classically beautiful. There have been complaints about the location, but although there are "denizens" hanging about Market St. and Civic Center Plaza, it's not a dangerous neighborhood. We would have preferred if the Hotel can provide Tea/ Coffee kettles in the Rooms , as in the cold season, you cant expect Guests to move - out frequently to have the drink of their choice

Wifi was terrible, kept coming in and out. My reservation said queen size bed and it was a full. One piece of equipment worked in the fitness center and the valley parking was a joke.

Hotel is in a great location if you don't have a vehicle. It is centrally located on Market Street so getting anywhere in town is pretty easy with the trolley or bus for $2. The Bart station is right in front of the hotel so getting to the airport is an easy $8.25 trip. If you want to get an all day pass for the muni, it's $12 but let's you ride the […] trolley cars and any of the cities trans except the Bart. You can get from Castro to the Pier with ease. Our only complaint is the neighborhood and homeless people. It appears to be a downtown issue. Just be conscious of your surroundings and all should be good. The hotel is nice. I really liked the old feel of the hotel. Apparently it is haunted which I think is exciting. We didn't get the sixth floor which is noted to active but I did note a few colder than normal spots in hallways and stairwells. Had a great relaxing time. Devamı

The Witcomb hotel was o.k. But the bathrooms were horrible. The sinks were just a single sink with out a counter. The showers were weak at best. Plus the rooms were drafty especially the bathrooms.

When booked we asked for fridge & coffee maker it took two days and three requests to get coffee maker and we never got the fridge at all during our stay, if not for the housekeeping ladies i do not think we would have got the coffee maker either. Hotel needs a lot of work

I have been in this hotel before and enjoyed it very much. But this time there was no heater in the room and I was very uncomfortable. The front desk sent the engineer up and he could not find a heater or thermostat either.

We had a great time - hotel staff met all our needs! We had a comfortable quiet room, ate at the restaurant for one meal, received good tips from the concierge and public transportation was right out the door. Plan to return for our next trip to San Francisco!

Spartan, but it works. The neighborhood is terrible, but Market street is at least a little safer than some of the streets off it.

Aside from the fact that the hotel reminded me of the shining, it is not in a safe neighborhood and is in desperate need of a full gut renovation. That being said the night manager Kanil was incredibly kind and helpful.

My stay was ok for the few hours we were in the room. The hotel is very old though & in the room it showed but, it was very clean. It took over 7 minutes for the hot water to come on in the shower.

We fell asleep peacefully after a night out at the giants game and after going to 21st amendment. Muni is right there and it's so close to everything! Parking is $40 though but it gives you peace of mind and our escort Sergio was awesome! The guys at the service desk was a tad rude but I think it was because he was training someone at the time. Bathroom […] was eh, ok but I'm so so glad we got a private bathroom. I just prefer the privacy and leisure. Overall this hotel was decent. Devamı

I found this to be a good hotel for a short stay. It is an old building but with decent facilities. Safety deposit boxes are held at receiption rather than in your room. Staff were extremely friendly. A very tired hotel. Has that very old hotel smell to it. Very institutional looking floors. Not in a good section of town. Very little in close proximity to the hotel .No coffee in the room. On the positive side, the bed was very comfortable.

The hotel rooms were dank and dark with a very small window looking out to an alley. The front of the hotel was littered with homeless and quite frightening,. We did not feel comfortable walking anywhere outside of the hotel..

The hotel exceeded my expectations - it was a large hotel, very pretty, and in a great location. The only thing that creeped me out was the historic feel of it - at times, I felt like a ghost would CHASE me down the hallway. It felt a bit.. haunted.
