The hotel was beautiful and charming but was in need of room repairs (at least the one I was in) Wallpaper pealing, not just a corner, and water was rusty even after running it for a long time. Generally clean just in need of repairs.The staff was fantastic and the drinks at the lounge were crafted works of art and plentiful! If they put a bit of TLC […] in the rooms the place would be perfect! Devamı

This was an especially lovely Inn. The room was absolutely beautiful and extremely clean. We were upgraded from a king to a king suite which was a very generous surprise! We tried the cocktail lounge, which was great and had some unusual house specialties. There were freshly baked cookies at the front desk. The Inn also offers an evening turndown service, […] which was another wonderful touch (again, fresh cookies). And, finally the complementary coffee in oversized mugs at the desk in the morning was a very welcome treat. We went to the Inn's brunch and it was absolutely delicious and reasonably priced! The Exeter Inn is a nice place, but the room we stayed at was almost comically small. It lacked a dresser and all but the smallest table. A queen-sized bed took up nearly the entire space. The bathroom was so small that you had to tuck yourself into the corner to close the door and the there was virtually no counter space in there. We came here for my wife's birthday and loved it. 0 complaints or concerns. We were even upgraded to a suite so that we'd have a place to store our bicycles. Turn down service had chocolate chip cookies....better than chocolate. As a surprise, we hit town to find the Exeter UFO Festival there at the same time.......Take it where you will. We enjoyed the one night's stay while we were there for the Seafood Festival in Hampton beach. It was easy to get to, the bed was comfortable, the room was nice but small. I thought rates for the room was a little on the expensive side. Also there was only one robe and 1 pair of slippers, what about if there's two people staying in the room. These rooms are very small. I am a thin guy, but I couldn't even sit at the desk without moving the bed backwards by 12". Also, be warned that the hotel uses hot water radiator heat. Great during the winter, I'm sure, but until they turn on their heating system, the rooms are cold during cool late summer/fall evenings.

Very nice Inn but the room was very small. Hardly had room to walk around the bed. This was a big negative in our eyes.

This is a great old hotel made new. Everything is renewed while keeping the good old bones. Almost across from the Phillips Exeter School is a great place to stay for visiting family. Rooms are on the small side (ours was a junior queen, requiring some tight navigation around the bed) but very well appointed with good quality furniture and flat screen […] TV plus free and fast wifi. Bathroom is modern with small but well utilized space and lots ot towels. There was even a good size table if one needed work space. The bar is a great space for meeting old locals and for a quick dinner and drinks. Breakfast, while not included was reasonably priced and of exceptional quality. Summary: highly recommended Devamı

We just got back from our stay at The Exeter Inn and can't wait to come back! We stayed in a junior suite (it was small) but it met all of our needs. We were greeted by very courteous staff at the front desk and the pleasantly surprised when we were given homemade cookies as part of turn down service!! We had breakfast on the beautiful patio at Epoch […] (restaurant on premises) the morning we checked out...big mistake because we wanted to stay even longer at The Exeter Inn afterwards! The Exeter Inn is just 25 min from Hampton Beach and 20 min from Kittery Outlet Malls and 15 min from Portsmouth. This is why we have to come back...we just did not have enough time to enjoy The Exeter Inn or the town of Exeter as much as we would like! Devamı

You will love this place as a get-away from the hustle of the owrld - Plenty of shops and plenty of art galleries abound- porstmouth nh is close by for music and more dining the inn is very comfortable and unique with the academy nearby for great walking paths

This hotel is clearly an old building, but it has all the modern conveniences (flat screen tv, free wi-fi, etc.). It's the little extra touches they do that make it so special. Such as a cozy terry robe and slippers in the closet and home-made cookies delivered to your room in the evening and turn-down service. We loved the inn. Our room was very nice, clean, bed super comfortable, digital thermostat, cookies waiting for us on arrival, really really nice. My only complaint is that we went to the restaurant for sunday brunch and it took so long that we decided to leave before we even had the chance to order (which was after about 15 minutes of sitting there, […] no exaggeration, while the waitress and hostess talked among themselves). they also did not even notice that we were leaving....other than that, it was excellent. The place to stay in the biutiful city of Exeter, NH. The Jr Queen Room was a bit small but the charm of this historical (and hopefully renovated) hotel made it a great experience. We will come back!

A very nice hotel in a beautiful historic town. Very nice touches - bath robe, cookies in room in the evening. Enjoyed our stay immensely.

Sadly, I was very dissappointed with this hotel. The rooms were not clean (floors in bathroom were filthy, hair in shower drain). The hotel needs serious renovation. The carpets smell of mildew, there was very little counter space available in the bathroom, and there were no screens on three of the 4 windows in our room. Lastly, the wallpaper was peeling […] in the bathroom, and there was cracked and broken tiles in the shower. The hotel front desk/ and housekeeping service was lacking. We asked for towels and never received them (there was only one set of towels in the bathroom for two adults. There were a couple positive aspects about the hotel. One, the turndown service was a nice touch and included fresh baked cookies. Second, the hotel restaurant and bar were fantastic. Very contemporary in contrast to the rest of the hotel. Lovely hotel...clean, retro, yet modern. Upscale bathroom appliances have funky touches. [The bathroom tiles could use a little mending though.] The restaurant in the hotel serves quality meals. Exeter is a quaint destination with lovely shops within walking distance from the hotel. The variety of shops back onto the river and some of the restaurants […] have patios that over-look the river...serene. Devamı

They were even warm.... great customer service and charm. Will definitely stay again- only draw back is the rates can be a bit pricey depending on the season.

Had a good stay, this is the second time I have ever stayed there. This year the room was smaller for 2 people and just more cramped. I love this hotel though and will definitely go back next year.

Nice hotel if you want to stay in a non-traditional hotel with history. If you're looking for convenience and amenities like a fitness room, pool, etc. then this most likely won't work for you. Could use some renovation, a bit musty smell as most older buildings have over time but the staff is friendly, rooms are clean and has some nice 'old world' […] touches. Devamı

The hotel itself has a nice, up-class feel and they provide some nice amenities (cookies at turn-down, nice robes, good quality bedding). Staff seemed helpful and friendly. Things were quiet so we were upgraded to a king-size bed. However, the room itself was in need of care. The baseboard and window trim were in need of repainting with very noticeable […] chipping. Additionally, the bathroom tile was stained and cracked. These things could possible be overlooked, but the room itself was not cleaned adequately; on check-in I found a peanut, a large pile of fuzz, and an ear plug on the floor. Even a mediocre vacuuming would have picked these things up. I'd like to recommend this hotel, but I would have to be assured that the above issues were taken care of before I could do so. Devamı

As a woman traveling alone, I like hotels where I can drive up, get out and not have to park underground, around the corner, across the street or whereever. Nice smaller hotel, housekeeping staff needs retraining. A coffeemaker in the room is needed.

The Exeter Inn is in a lovely part of the town of Exeter, right down a residential street from Phillips Exeter Academy. The rooms are adequate, but not plush. Our room was small, with only basic amenities. The staff does try hard to please, including leaving a plate of cookies in your room upon your arrival. We stayed at the Exeter Inn in late August, initially for four days, but extended our stay to six nights. This was largely because of the value for money compared to other hotels in the region. It was quiet, reasonably professional and generally good value for money, enough for us to extend our stay. They have nice touches such as leaving baked cookies […] each night with a bathrobe and slippers. However we would have greatly preferred that the cleaning staff pay more attention to cleaning the room, which was not particularly clean when we checked in, and which didn't get vacuumed all week. The room was also very, very small. On the whole our visit was consistent with expectations generated after we looked at reviews like this one online. Devamı

What a wonderful spot in lovely town and we really enjoyed the breakfast in the hotel restaurant downstairs. There was an old fashioned feeling with the bath across the hall. We hope to stay there again.

We made last minute plans to visit Portsmouth but there were no lodgings available so we happened on the Exeter Inn. What a great find! We were happier here than in a formulaic chain hotel in Portsmouth. This is really a delightful place, low key and in a lovely community.

this hotel was extremely nice and the front desk and restaurant were very polite and treated you like a guest. We had trouble with the Comcast t.v. but they came up to help and even gave us cookies. The atmosphere is very elegant and prestige looking. Very lovely. Only complaint was the room was so small you could hardly move around. When we entered our room, there were two cookies waiting for us and the TV was on without volume to CNN. Since we were on the road all day, I liked getting a news update. The staff was extremely friendly. Shortly after checkout, we got an e-mail from the hotel that we left a cellphone in the hotel. The hotel made arrangements to get it back to us. Until a few more places that are under construction are finished, this is about the only place in Exeter to stay. We found it convenient to both Newburyport and Portsmouth but there's not much to see or do in Exeter itself. The restaurant in the Inn was good and the atmosphere was very good, but the restaurants in Exeter Center were overpriced and understaffed. […] In one we waited 20 minutes after being seated without anyone acknowledging we were present. When a table near us with people seated after us was visited first, we decided to leave. The only complaint about the Inn is that the room was very small. There being no room to place the TV on a table, it was hung on a wall to the right of the bed, making viewing uncomfortable. No bureau meant working out of our suitcases. If you need more room, be sure to check out the website first. The staff was very accomodating. Devamı

Initially, we were a little concerned about booking a room with a bath across the hall, but when we arrived at the charming inn , we told we were upgraded to a room with a bathroom. the bathroom was very clean and modern. The bed sooo comfortable and quiet location made it a perfect overnights stay. We ate breakfast on premises, which was fabulous as […] well. we will definately stop by again in the near future. Great hotel in European style. I really liked the turn down service which just added that little touch for a small hotel. Great service in the bar at a reasonable price. The only think that let it down was breakfast. It was OK, but could have been better. Burnt toast ! On the whole a great hotel worth a visit.

We liked the location of the place, close to downtown. The service of the front desk is friendly. The room is small but clean. The sound isolation is not ideal and we could hear the noises next door and in the hall way.

Friendly service. Small, but elegant room. Quiet neighborhood with small town feel. (We were there in July with very few students around.) Very few restaurants within walking distance, but we enjoyed the pub where we dined. We also took a lovely walk by the river's side. A fine inn. None of the usual nonsense that sometimes comes with a bargain booking. Lovely high quality ameneties and linens. Warm chocolate chip cookies delivered to the room in the PM. Friendly courteous staff. Fabulous breakfast for a reasonable price. A real bargain/value at this unbelievable price. Too good to be true but it was.

The hotel is in very good shape. The room was a little on the small side, but it was very comfortable. It reminded me of the Europen style and size rooms. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. The restaurant service and food was top notch as well. It was a pleasure to stay there.

A gem in Exeter-- Superb friendly service and a very nice restaurant and bar

Nice place. Quaint. Good food. Careful though. The bathroom is across the hall. Private bath but still seperate. Not that big of a deal.

We booked here because we know the area. As an older building I expected some drawbacks but the current state of the facility is appalling. Immediately we were struck by a bad smell. The employee at the desk was sitting and did not rise to greet us. We had to wait for her to finish chatting with a fellow employee before she bothered to see if we needed […] help - this in the evening as we waited with our young children. The elevator was tiny and stuffy and opened to another smelly floor. The halls all had peeling wallpaper. Even the newly remodeled bathrooms were already looking rundown. The tile baseboards were coming off and the paper bubbling. Our bathroom had not been adequately cleaned and contained remnants of the previous occupants - ewww! The bathroom did not have a fan and the moisture just collected. We had to open our window to air it out which made us feel we had no privacy. When we went to bed were staring at a very badly patched up ceiling which looked as it might leak again at any moment! We were looking forward to our stay here. We had a very nice stay. The room was small but very cozy and the bed was great. The staff were kind and took care of us well. When we arrived they even upgraded our room for us, same price which was great!
