Very nice hotel, good location, clean and proper, good break fast. Good location.

Pros: Excellent location across from Merrion Sq, and across the street from the Airbus stop (when coming from the airport). It's a 10-15min walk to Grafton St, Temple Bar, and O'Connell St. The biggest advantage staying here vs a hotel in Temple Bar is that the area is very quiet and safe. We could only hear the drunk pouring out of the pub on Fri/Sat […] night, but it was still nothing like in the Temple Bar area. I'd consider it normal for a city location, and certainly not loud enough to interrupt sleep. The room was very comfortable and reasonable size for 2 women. Beds were comfortable. Hotel staff were always helpful and pleasant, meeting requests promptly. The desk staff were helpful in helping me check in for my return flights and print my boarding passes without extra fee when the Dublin Airport site (which they allow you to access for free from a terminal in the lobby) didn't link to British Airways. Cons: The only reason I did not give this hotel 5 stars is the shower. There is a complete lack of water pressure which means it takes twice as long to shower, especially for those with thick or long hair). It is also difficult to regulate the water temperature to something in-between scalding and cold. Finally, I would urge caution for the elderly or anyone a bit unsteady on their feet. The tub is very slippery despite what appear to be non-slip strips. There are good handlebars available (which, along with fast reflexes, kept me from falling several times), but the tubs could use a rubber mat or thicker strips to make it safer. I am used to the quirks of European accommodation showers, but for those who require a power shower (or even normal water pressure) I would probably tell them to look at other hotels. In conclusion, I would not hesitate to stay here again, and just accept the shower issue as a nuisance but not a deal breaker for me. Very surprisingly the hotel has no room service the hot towel rail in the bathroom did not work (hotel policy not to switch them on) front desk staff somewhat haphazard approach to service delivery

The hotel was clean and well maintained. Pillows on the bed were a bit small and shower a bit of a challenge to get the temperature just right. Staff were generally unwilling to help - some were very courteous, others were unable to help me out with some basic info; exact location of car rental offices and bus station information.

I stayed here and at the Westin while in Dublin on my honeymoon. The room was fine, nothing special and the bathroom was okay... except the hot/cold water never moderated right. I preferred the location/service/rooms at the Westin because it was right in the middle of everthing. The O'Callaghan Mont Clare was fine, but not as centrally located. Definitely […] nice if you prefer to be right near the park. Very close to Grafton Street... everything is still walkable, but I would pay the extra money and stay at the Westin. Devamı

Hotel/room in itself was very nice, sadly the plumbing really let it down, shower just like a drippy tap, no power at all.

The hotel room itself was rather large. The bed appeared to be about a King size bed but upon inspection was two singles pushed together. Additionally, the bed was not comfortable. The hotel staff was very helpful however and the location of the hotel was excellent, very close to center city. My main complaint was the heat in the hotel. The air conditioning […] did not work and the room was very humid and uncomfortable. If it were cooler out, this would not have been a problem. This hotel is in a good location in Dublin. It is within comfortable walking distance of Trinity College, Dublin Castle, Grafton Street, etc. Bus stops for all tours are located nearby also. The room was a little small and the water pressure for the shower is lacking a bit, but other than that I would recommend this hotel.

Very good, old fashioned style hotel. Very comfortable room and excellent daily cleaning. Great location near Marrion square, Art gallery etc and short walk to centre of town. Friendly staff. Highly recommended.

i stayed in this hotel in july '11 and found it very good value for money, clean, friendly and in a good location only 7-8 min walk to grafton street. however the temple bar area is a bit further maybe 20 mins but we found this a good thing because you dont get any of the drunken noise around the hotel. overall i was very happy with the stay and would […] recommend/stay at this hotel again. The O'Callaghan hotel was well worth staying at despite the poor desk staff (perhaps the employee was new and in training however the lack of interest/concern for resolving matters left much to be desired). We stayed at the Mont Clare for 3 nights and found it to be in an excellent location a few minutes walk away from the city centre, pubs and restaurants. The hotel was well furnished though the lift was a bit unreliable and occassionally did not work for a few minutes because the motor had overheated. The hotel has chargeable internet using either a […] room number/name or a code from reception. Unfortunately , neither I nor the hotel staff could get it to work on the first night using the room number/name option and had to use the code alternative. There were no problems with the room number option on subsequent days. We did not have breakfast in our package(food served in the hotel breakfast area) so can't comment on the food. However, the hotel did not have an evening restaurant facility and diners had to go across the road to a sister hotel. We felt the hotel offered a good standard of comfort at a reasonable rate and did not charge the high prices we saw on the internet with similar quality hotels. Devamı

Mont Clare is in an excellent location for travel around Dublin.While the rooms were very clean the shower heads and water delivery system need revamping. The hotel staff,particularly John and Maria were particularly helful.

the location was great, relatively quiet but quite convenient to walk to lots of stuff. shower was tiny, had no pressure, and sometimes not enough hot water. that was really our only complaint.

Fabulous location in the heart of all the key interest spots in Dublin City. Only a block from the Dart. Very helpful staff. Not the newest decor and the shower pressure was low. But very comfortable, good beds and safe. Definitely good value and a plus for those who like a good sleep, but would rather sightsee than sit in a delux room.

I really don't know why the group has neglected this hotel.I have stayed in all O'Callaghan hotels in Dublin and Mont Clare is the only one I feel like not going back to. The rooms are just OK but need lots of maintenance work to do.The roof near the AC duct looked like it was going to fall down any time. The hotel was in a great location, walking distance to everywhere near Trinity College, Temple Bar, and the airport bus drop off/pick up. Service was great, including letting me leave luggage at the hotel the two nights before my stay so that I did not have to bring it on a side trip to Paris.

Good location of hotel near the museums and not far from Temple Bar. Very good breakfast that is not included in the room rate and you are not offered a discount for breakfast. Also, had a great deal of difficulty accessing the internet and finally gave up.

The hotel has a great location. You can walk to museums, Temple Bar, Trinity, O''Connell St., etc. The hotel was rather empty in Feb. 2011 as only the breakfast room was open. The bar & its restaurant are now closed. Guests can use facilities at Davenport across the street. Mont Clare now is more like a posh motel. Tile bathrooms with nice tubs. Paddy, […] the concierge/porter, has retired. AirCoach from airport stops across the street but one needs to walk down past Grafton St. to get the Coach back to the airport. Internet shop is across the street. St. Andrews church is 2 blocks away. Devamı

The O'callaghan Mont Clare is located right next to the public and Government instutions of Dublin. It is a pleasant neighbourhood, close to everything and yet easy without being quiet or boring. The hotel is nice, a economical with space in a very efficent and welcoming manner. To room was quiet and unfortunately a bit cold when I arrived. An adjustement […] on the thermostat fixed that and kept the room at an easy sleeping temperature. All in all, it was a nice place to come back to every night. Devamı

The hotel is a little bit of a walk away from the main city area (maybe 7 minutes) but it is just enough to feel a little separated from the hustle and bustle. The hotel was clean and relatively quiet- we visited at new years and found few noises make it from the street below to our window. Staff were friendly and courteous. The ventilation in the bathroom didnt work. Every time we had a shower the room filled up with steam and condensation ran down the walls. All because the ventilation didnt work. When reported to the reception desk they seemed to think this was perfectly normal. A sign of very poor standards. Thank God nothing else failed to function.

The hotel was within walking distance to the air coach drop-off and within walking distance to most major tourist areas that include Temple Bar, St. Stephen's Green and the River. The room was clean, quiet and the bathroom had granite counters and marble floors. The kind bed was very comfortable and the staff was helpful. Was very disappointed with the hotel staff. They were very unhelpful and rude at checking and checkout. Not a thank you or a smile at all. The hotel was nice and warm. The location of this hotel is ideal for tourists who are willing to use a little shoe leather. It was within easy walking distance of virtually every tourist attraction in Dublin. The Mont Clare is a good 3 star hotel in a central location on the corner of Merrion Sq near the National Gallery, the back of Trinity College and Pearse Train Station and the 4 +7 bus stop.The hotel decor could do with some modernisation.However, the room had evrything I could need including tea/coffee making facilities, bath and wide screen tv with […] wide range of channels.It also had an old style and quite loud air con unit.The window in my room did not open. 5 friends stayed here between 27th - 30th Aug 2010. The staff were friendly and helpful and the hotel was clean and well presented. 10 mins walk to shops/pubs. Very good buffet style, cooked breakfast (not included in the price). Staff were extremely helpful when we had left a bag at the hotel. The Mont Clare was in the perfect location. The rooms are small but that is what you would expect in a historic hotel in the city. We leved walking fromt he hotel to many sights and it was also close to the Hop-On-Hop Off buses.

We booked here last year before we knew the great location. This year we booked again because we love the location and the ambiance of the hotel. Staff are great. Unfortunately, the pub/lounge is no longer active and that's disappointing because a spot to relax in your hotel after a day of touring or events is always nice. Perhaps when things pick up […] they will be open again, hopefully. But for museums, shopping, bus transport, etc. great spot. Devamı

Especially for the cost, you can't beat O'Callaghan's Mont Clare. The only thing I could find to complain about would be its miserable view on the off-street side of the hotel. Other than that, the room was nice (if small) and well-appointed. My wife and I enjoyed staying here.

Good value, excellent location

The hotel overall was satisfactory for a one night stay, however being told at check in that you can't use the room until later than the time stated was very annoying. If we had been wanting to use the room to get ready for an event it would have been completely unsatisfactory. Also we received no apology for the inconvenience. Great location / some history.. Staff is very nice / helpful (helped me with directions/ what to do). The rooms are a little outdated / need renovation but the place is clean / there is hot water, etc so it was OK. I enjoyed my stay there. .

Good location, at corner of Merrion Square, near to Nassau and Grafton Streets in centre of Dublin, also green tourist bus (recommended) stops across the street from the hotel. Staff were very friendly and helpful, room was clean although rather small. Negative points: Elevator not working the day we arrived (not their fault but it did cause me problems […] as I have mobility difficulties, also after waiting for an hour for them to bring our bags up to 2nd floor, we gave up and struggled to bring them up ourselves) No restaurant - and on Monday evenings NO bar! Also bar closed at 10.30 on other weekday nights - seems very early for a hotel bar, especially in Dublin! For that reason, we would probably not choose this hotel again. Devamı

This Hotel is quite satisfactory, but suffers from not having a restaurant and so has rather a stark atmosphere. The rooms however, are well appointed and clean. It was good value for money. The lift was out of order on the night I stayed so some may have found a walk to the 3rd floor substituted for the gym!

My wife and I attended with two friends at the Mont Clare Hotel Dublin for our 2-night stay, we arrived mid morning and we were allocated rooms straight away which was a huge bonus to us. We had visited the hotel on two occasions previously as we consider it very well situated for Dublin centre & the DART rail link. The Hotel Receptionist was extremely […] helpful with all our enquries, the rooms were very comfortable, and breakfast too was very good. Unfortunately there was a function on the first night we stayed so we could not frequent the bar area, however we were offered to go to the sister hotel across the road, and there are a few good bars close-by. In conclusion we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Mont Clare and will be back again to stay without doubt. Devamı

I recently stayed in the Mont Clare Hotel, it is perfectly situated for visiting Dublin either on business or for pleasure. Opposite the National Gallery and Merrion Square and a stones throw from Government buildings, it is just a few minutes walk from Grafton Street and Stephens Green. The dart and train station is closes and it is on the main bus […] route to Balls Bridge. There are no shortages of pubs and restaurants within walking distance and Trinity College is around the corner. I stayed here twenty years ago, I recommened it and I'm glad to say I can still recommend it, highly. Devamı
