Larkspur Hotel Union Square - San Francisco

highly recommend taking the price into consideration only problem is a bit cold

We were traveling through San Francisco on a Road Trip and wanted to be downtown. The first night was great. The staff was friendly and helpful. The rooms were small but perfect for us. The second night was very noisy outside which the hotel can't help but it is something good to know. I would want to stay closer to the water next stay.

Had a great visit at the Larkspur. Perfect location, wonderful ambience, fine room, and great service. Love it love it

I ordered a king-size traditional bedroom with hotels.com, but when I got there, they had only one room left in the hotel. The front desk was very nice but profusely apologetic before I went up, so I was worried. Incredibly small room, with a twin bed and a window which, although on 2nd floor, gave access to an elevated pathway from which outsiders […] had obviously previously broken in. The Larkspur is reasonably priced for a good location. Staff is kind and helpful! Great coffee, nicely decorated room, but on a small scale as would be expected with such older buildings in San Francisco. If you are busy out and about, it is a great place to rest your head! Stay away. The pillows smell like old socks, bathtub is moldy, etc. This place is old, small and disgusting. I would rather sleep on cardboard then there mattresses.

We thought the location was awesome - only a block to Union Square. The hotel is clean and the staff was nice. The hotel is one of the oldest in SF and remodeled nicely for an old building.

I loved the hotel, best 2 days of my life, my only complaint was te parking situation was a little bit of highway robbery

Nice city hotel in a great location (two blocks from Union Square). Room was fine, but bathroom was extremely small (though clean and fully functional). Other than that very charming hotel. Were able to check in early (11AM) without any problems. Parking (paid) in garage nearby which is open 24 hours. Nice staff.

Christmas decorations were great! Fire in lounge was nice! Location is fantastic to get around, 2 short blocks to Union Square! Bathroom was small but good toiletries! Not a hotel to stay in your room but who would in San Francisco!!

Located near main restaurants and shopping. The hotel seemed nice. Parking should have been reviewed before check-in. The bathroom is tiny so if you are sharing the room with someone you don't with to see you naked...I guess you could change in the bathtub. Or just hope they have bigger bathrooms in other rooms. The menu for a nearby restaurant was […] dirty even though it was clear plastic and washable. The street was noisy and it will wake you up all night. Trash collectors and other various noises. Great hotel to stay at in SF. Clean room, great location but the first day we got there the person at check in was really rude, makes me think about staying somewhere else the next visit for SF.

You get what you pay for. This hotel is really old, but it's in a central location and the staff are really friendly and helpful. My sheets had a stain, but other than that, the room was pretty clean.

Staff was very friendly. Room was nice but extremely tiny, especially the bathroom (I have never seen a smaller bathroom).

Pros: Good location, near restaurants, the bart, and one block from union square. It is loud at night from street noises and yelling. The room was small but comfortable for one person. All staff were friendly and nice. String quartet was playing in the lobby during the evening. Cons: Disappointed when I saw a couple strands of hair in the bed. Front […] lobby is very nice, the rooms try to look fancy but not like the lobby. It has decorative wall paper. What looked cheap was the wall papered crowning along the top of one wall. I guess it would have been fine if it was around the whole room and not just one wall. This hotel is close to basically everything in the downtown area. You just a few blocks away from Chinatown, Union Square and all the major shopping. Right across from the hotel is Walgreens and 7 Eleven. It clean and roomy. The only thing I don't like is the bathroom. It very small and it kinda of a odd way to have a bathroom. It a old style hotel […] with little bit of a charm. BTW just beware of your next door neighbors. You can hear every conversation they have. Devamı

On Sutter St, close to Union Square and easy access to BART a few blocks away without having to drag bags all the way up the hill to the Bush Street hotels where I normally stay. The Larkspur was comfortable and clean. Real porcelain fixtures in the bathroom and plump towels which was nice. My room was small and the window looked out on a shaft basically […] but the bed was comfortable with plenty of pillows. Plenty of public space to hang out in the lobby and a privatish mezzanine lounge. Friendly, helpful staff. Devamı

Very decent hotel for the price. It was very close to Union square which was great. Our room did have some city noise but that is to be expected. We live in NYC and the SF noise was very quiet in comparison. The sound of the cable cars was actually nice. room was very clean, and staff was very helpful. However, room was tiny. we knew this going in […] so we were prepared. having the ironing board out made it difficult for my wife to move around me and not get burned. bathroom was very small. it was probably 4' x 6'. Much smaller than a standard 5' x 7' NYC bathroom. also they do not serve food. however, they had a nice bar in the back. there was a hotel 3 doors down called Hotel Rex that had 2 nice bicycles in the window for their guests. that sounds nice! This is an older hotel, so the rooms didn't quite block out the noise from the street. The cable cars ran right by the hotel, so it was pretty noisy during the day, but quieted a little at night. The rooms were small...and the bathroom was TINY! However, they did provide many ammenities like a quality razor (I really appreciated this because I did […] not check my luggage, so I wasn't able to bring a razor with me), complimentary coffee (in the room and downstairs) and great toiletries. They also participate in the Green Hotels program and offered bonuses for not using housekeeping services everyday. Additionally, the staff was very helpful and knowledgeable about the area. We registered into the Hotel on a SAT for my conference at the Westin Hotel. We were immediately unhappy with the size of the bathroom. It was very difficult to manever and could be dangerous as there is not a lot of floor space. THe closet was bigger than the bathroom. You could use the toilet and wash your face at the same time. THe room was very […] stuffy and muggy. THe hair dryer did not work. Parking for the Larkspur Hotel is around the corner on Post street at a City parking Garage, so be prepared to walk with your luggage back to the hotel. THe pictures on the Larkspur Hotel website are nothing like the actual rooms. THe pictures must have been taken at another Hotel. I will not stay here again. Devamı

I was charged for some crazy reason an inordinate amount of money for a 12'x12' room which was smaller than my bedroom at home.The view was a wall with plastic flowers on it. .i complained to the desk and was told that they don't honor special request so I told her that when Hotels.com sent me a email confirmation the description said "city views"and […] a wall was not city views.The room was clean but when you can't even walk on one side of the bed the room is not worth what I paid . Very great location, but as with most boutique hotels, you have to keep in mind the rooms will be tiny. Rooms and architecture are old but cozy. Convenient for younger couples looking for a modest room in a great location.

our room was small and dirty! i live in nyc so i'm used to tight spaces but our room and bathroom was uncomfortably small. the bathtub was also very dirty with stains on the shower curtain. i would never stay here again.

This hotel is quaint, and clean, however, be aware, it is a period building, from about 1906 era. This means that it doesn't have A/C, and you're left to open the windows for ventilation. The Larkspur Hotel Union Square (SFO) was perfect in many ways ... location, comfort, and hospitality. At the Front Desk was Tia and Lillian ... both extremely lovely and made you feel 'at home' and comfortable. I researched for over a month for my trip and the ideal spot to stay ... I found the perfect location. Can't wait for my next trip to San Francisco […] and will be sure to book my room at the Larkspur Hotel! Devamı

Only issue was for a couple hours the cable on the TV was poor, but it got better.

Our hotel was within one block of Union Square, near Sears Fine Food Restaurant. We rented a total of three rooms. The beds were very comfortable and we loved the feather pillows. Everything was clean; the doorman Kevin recommended a limo service for us and we were very pleased all around with our stay.

Front office was a little scattered and unprepared. Sat in the lobby and quoted rates to people were all over the board.

SF is an expensive city to visit. This hotel gave us a less expensive room than other hotels offered, but it was small. I'd go again but with lower expectations of a room I could do anything else in but sleep.

low expectations for a reasonable neighborhood. good enough if you're drunk and way better than a DUI

Decent small hotel, close to Union Square, Chinatown and about 25 - 30 minute walk to Fishermans Wharf. An error on behalf of hotels.com regarding number of beds was rectified by the helpful man at front desk with no extra charge. Friendly staff all-round.

The room was too small for the price. Have stayed in a number of the hotels in immediate neighborhood, and it does not compare well. It simply does not have comparable amenities, and yet it cost appreciably more than we have paid in the past.
