tha was a lovely hotel in the middle of the city but the decoration was very old.if they change inside of the hotel it can be really perfect.the hotel was five minutes to the railway station by walking that was excellent too.

Since some time the hotel is under renovation which causes discomfort in the following areas- - Lobby is extremely small, lack of seating space - Dining room has no privacy showing directly on the lobby and reception - Noise of construction work - Elevators too small cannot accomodate one guest plus valet and two regular suitcases easily at one time - […] Conclusion current situation not 4 stars and rates should be reduced Devamı

A snug and charming hotel, a short stumble from the train station, the St. Gotthardt provided a wonderful, comfortable and quiet venue for us to recover from our jetlag. Falling out of bed, we found great although obscenely expensive shopping and the exceptional Walliser Kanne restaurant which has exquisite food in the Swiss style. The hotel was conveniently close to the train station which was what we needed as we were only staying overnight. There staff at reception were helpful, but there was no help with our luggage. Our room was very comfortable and clean, although we did not appreciate the powdered milk in little sachets for our tea and coffee.

European hotels differ from us hotels so you cannot compare room size to the us counter parts. The hotel,s delux rooms have been modernized where the standard rooms have not yet gone through a face lift. The hotel is centrally located and only a few steps from the train station. This property is VERY convenient to the train station if you are travelling by train. There is no bellman at the door and no one to deliver luggage to your room. Doesn't bother me, but when travelling with elderly parents, it would be nice to have some assistance. The front desk staff had an arrogant attitude which was annoying. There are far better […] hotels in Zurich with less of an attitude. Too bad because this property has the potential to be an excellent hotel. St. Gotthard is a good value. The price is reasonable, while the facility is a well-maintained older building with charm and character. My room was very clean and comfortable and of a standard size to be expected in Europe. The bathroom was small, but the inclusion of a full-size tub (as opposed to a standing shower only) was a definite plus. The staff […] was very friendly and helpful. If you appreciate the cookie-cutter, beige only hotel chains, St. Gotthard may not be for you, but I thoroughly enjoyed exploring the historic building with it's many citations displayed on the wall. It is also only a block from the main station and is very convenient to the Bahnhofstrasse with the many shops and restaurants. I would definitely stay there again. Very good location,small rooms

Fantastic location 2 minute walk from train station. Right on the Bahnoffstrasse, 5 minute walk across the river to Old Town, 10 minute walk to Lake. Room was large and clean, air conditioned.

Walking distance from Zurich Central Train Station, all major sight-seeing destinations and great shopping....but this hotel costed almost twice as much as other hotels in the city, during the week we stayed. Rooms are very tiny, building is old.

i booked this hotel to stay for two nights ,but i left after the first night ,beause my room was in a wing under construction ,without them saying to me when i checked in ,too nosiy ,dust all over ,the front desk did not even care

Excellent location. Rooms a little tired but staff are very friendly and helpful. One minute to the train station, 1 minute to Korean food, 1 minute to a nice outside cafe and right on the main shopping street. I would definitely go back.

The hotel is VERY close to great shopping, good restaurants, and the train for connection to almost anywhere in Switzerland/Europe. Also great for an overnight prior to a flight out of Zurich airport. The hotel is grand, old, and majestic. The service was excellent. The beds were comfortable. The down side of all this is that the room was quite small […] (even by european standards); especially for the price/night. The bathroom ceiling was not intact, there was no bathmat -- one needed to use one of the hand towels for this purpose. The carpet in the room was stained. The furniture was relatively decrepit -- perhaps adding "charm" for some people, but not really "charming". Overall I would probably look elsewhere for an overnight hotel while staying a day or two in Zurich. There a large number of other quaint and modern hotels in the same area. Although I don't know what they look like, I can't imagine that they are much less quality for the same price; and some are obviously lower priced for the same accomodation. The only good thing about this hotel is the location. The people are rude, the rooms are mediocre, and the mattresses are cheap and incredibly hard. And I don't mean sleep-number hard, I mean cut-from-marble hard. Find a different hotel if you can. A word of advice, don't trust what you see on the website to accurately represent the room you will get […] at the hotel. My family of 4 checked into St Gotthard Hotel on the 19th Nov for an overnight stay. This was a last minute booking. Despite the negative review I had read, I went ahead for the booking because it is closed to Zurich Main Station (in fact it is just crossed the street) and we need to catch a morning train to interlaken. We have no regret in choosing […] the hotel. The room is spacious (though the decor is a little dated) and we have a balcony with street view. If we visit Zurich again, this Hotel will definitely be our top choice. Devamı

My husband and I were very pleasantly surprised by the convenient location of the hotel. It is close to the main railway station and is in the prime shopping area. Also within easy walking distance of the old part of the city and its appealing restaurants. Reception was prompt, friendly and professional. Our room was most comfortable.

The St. Gottard is a grand old hotel with a great contemporary swiss feel in an absolutely ideal location for visiting Zurich. This was my first time in Zurich, and the St. Gottard helped make my visit that much more wonderful. My only negative was that one of the front desk receptionists gave me the wrong tram number to the Kunsthaus art museum, but […] it was easy to figure out and correct. The other front desk receptionists and hotel personnel were well trained and superb. I would not hesitate to stay there again. By the way, go to Srpungli confisierie everyday....several times a day. The location is perfect, an easy 5 minute walk from the main train station. I have no complaints about room, service or facilities and will stay there again next time I have to go to Zurich.

I stayed at the Hotel St. Gotthard in past many times, but lately the rates were increased substantialy. This time I received a special rate, most probably due to remodelling works.

I feel an obligation to continually write critical reviews of hotels who feel it is necessary to provide only wired - not wireless - internet access and then charge exorbitant rates for it. Internet access at hotels should be wireless and it should be included in the room rate. My one day of wired service at the St. Gotthard added 15% to the room r […] ate. Devamı

Situated in the midst of the shopping district, the St Gotthard would not be well suited for a business visit to Zurich, but it is comfortable and reasonably priced. Elevator is small but the stairs easy to navigate and the rooms seem bright and airy with ac that actually worked. Staff was pleasant and the guests seemed to be very international.

A very nice hotel for a reasonable price in a great location. The room was tastefully decorated, spacious and compared to other hotels we stayed in in Switzerland, it was very good value.

We stayed there for just one night on our way through Zurich. The hotel was incredibly close to the train station and the scenic old part of town. It was a a nice hotel, and a really good value for the money.

Hotel is an easy 3 minute walk from the train station. Located right in the middle of Zurich shopping district. Even though our room was facing a busy street (lots of people and trams), it was still very quiet. I loved the convenience of being so close to everything.

If you are flying into Zurich this is a pricey, but convenient hotel. All you have to do from Zurich airport is take the train to Zurich Main Station and then the hotel is within 1 block of one of the exits. We stayed two nights at this hotel at different points in our trip and we were given a much nicer room the second time. The first room was a bit […] antiquated while the second room was newly refurbished. The lift is small and somewhat peculiar (it has a door) and one would expect better in the U.S. for the price paid, but after staying at other hotels in Europe I didn't find this to be that strange by the end of our trip. The hotel is an old one, there's no question about it. There are some nods to the 21st (20th?) century, such as the flat screen televisions and Ethernet connections, though they too are not without their problems -- the TV's are finnicky, and the Internet is CHF 30 per day, which seems outrageous even for Zurich. I also found the bed to be quite uncomfortable, […] and trying to work at the desk was difficult, as the desk is too tall or the chair is too short. On the flip side, the hotel is situated in an excellent location at the beginning of the Bahnhofstrasse, steps from the main train station. We paid a rate that was relatively modest (relatively being the key word -- welcome to Zurich!), and if I were to stay at this hotel again it would be solely for the location/cost combination. Central Zurich is relatively small, however, and the next time I visit, I would probably try a different hotel. I should also add that the staff was very professional. Devamı

Not as "upscale" as I'd usually expect from a four star hotel, but other factors more than made up for it. The hotel was clean/safe, the business center (computers, printer) was free, and the staff was helpful. Best of all, you can't beat the location...just steps from the train station.

Hotel is in a good location, close to the mainline train station. This is a very old hotel (120 years old) and is outdated. The day was 28C& air conditioning was not working in our room. We informed the front desk, immediately we were provided with the ventilator (or table fan) !!! Hotellet ble pusset opp med intens malingslukt på rommet. Ikke fjernkontroll til TV, telfonen virket ikke. Fikk byttet til gammelt rom, noe slitt. Ble vekket kl 0700 av arbeidere som borret og fjernet fliser, irriterende. OK frokost, dårlig eggerøre og bacon, gode kokte egg.

Die Nähe zum Bahnhof ist sehr gut, man kann alles gut zu Fuß erreichen! Die Srassenbahn vor dem Hotel ideal, da man von da aus leicht in viele Stadtteile kommt! Mich persönlich störte der Wasserkocher (mit einen Neskaffee!!! wegen Einzelzimmer!!!) der passt in kein Schweizerhotel dieser Kategorie!!!

OK. situation, mais les chambres sont bruyantes. et, chaud et humide.

The hotel is good, but there is far too much noise from the street, caused by street-swiping machines and insuffiient sound inulation of the windows. (Room B 41 in July 2011)
