Hotel St. Regis - Detroit

It was satisfactory for an overnight stay. The staff was very accomodating. I would stay hete again if making a one or two night trip to Detroit.

The hotel is ok, the area is Detroit... Poor, desolated, what can you expect. Free breakfast isn't worth much. Free cup of coffee it should be called. Internet and bus connections are very good.

Ac didn't work, was 75 outside, and 85 degrees when we walked into our room, woke up with a stuffy nose!

There was no air condition and the room was 89 degrees, we had to open a window and turn of the thermostat to even make the room tolerable to stay in. There is no flat panel tvs...they are 15 year old tube televisions. Parking is expensive in a neighbor that miles from the bars/stadiums. Needed a hotel in the city for a family funeral. This hotel was well appointed and the staff checked me in with no problems. Other relatives were checked in already and I asked to be on the same floor near them. We had a bank of rooms. All seemed comfortable with the choice. The details could stand a little attention as some of the seams from the comforter […] and chairs were loose and I found out my wash basin would not drain. Also there was no refrigerator in the room. Ice was located on the third floor. The staff handled all my concerns. Tammy the day manager and Mark at night got the basin open and found a refrigerator for my medication. The neighborhood is not so good, so we stayed in for dinner and had a good meal with excellent service from Nichelle. You have to use valet parking, as you want your car protected ;however, it was available quickly for our needs. Devamı

i was please with the staff, friendly and hospitable.

The hotel was convenient and the hotel lobby decor was lovely. The continental breakfast left a lot to be desired, especially the watered down orange juice and undrinkable coffee.

No refrigerator in the room and $14 parking fee for a night.

Great hotel even had valet service thank god i had a breathlyzer in my car so they could not get my vehicle because ya would think this service is included with room fee and stay, but it is not. Front desk tried to collect $14 from me until informed them i never used service just they required my keys be kept at the valet desk during my stay.

From the onset, the hotel staff was very attentive. The valet service was superb and courteous. Unfortunately, I was in Detroit during a drastic change in the weather. The outside temperature was very warm, yet the hotel was prepared for cold weather. Therefore, the heaters were on throughout the hotel and in the rooms, the thermostat on the wall would […] NOT allow me to control my rooms temperature. It was hot and I had to open the windows to try to get some air. I had a difficult time sleeping due the heat in the room. However, the hotel did try it's best to accomodate me. They moved me three times at my request, to try and catch a breeze from an open window in another room. They even found a fan, to bring to the room. The AC, finally kick in on my last day! I also had an issue with the dirty floor boards, which looked as if they hadn't been cleaned in months. However, upon sharing this with the Manager of housekeeping, she came to my room herself and cleaned the base boards and instructed her staff to do likewise throughout the hotel. Again, the staff was very kind and delightful. I did notice some spider webs behind the TV console, but I didn't complain, because I didn't stay in that particular room long. (That's one of the rooms I was trying to find a breeze.) The bed was very comfortable,however the lamps in the room appeared to be a little worn and rusty. The last room I was in on the second floor, was absolutly comfortable and well cleaned (except dusty base boards,) Overall, this hotel is very old, but yet beautiful. It just needs some TLC from managment. There could be upgrades with the TV's a little furniture, some small wall paper repair, maybe some new carpert in the rooms and a very thorough cleaning. The bathrooms were very nice, hallways were very clean, elevators were beautiful and the staff was just awesome. I only ordered a small sandwich from the hotel and it was delivered to my room. For same price, you can get a better night's stay somewhere else. This was probably a beautiful hotel 15 years ago. Since then, it hasn't been upkept properly, and it's pretty dilapidated. The continental breakfast was the worst I've ever had - mini bagels and butter. Two of the three mornings I was there that was the only option. The neighborhood is […] pretty unkempt as well. Not much to do in the area. Also a hidden cost is the $14 a night forced valet service. The other option is to park on the street. Even with a valet service, something got stolen out of the back of my truck. I don't think they actually have surveillance there. Wouldn't recommend. Devamı

I enjoyed my stay, everything worked out nice

Very nice ... and cozy... breakfast was a little crummy though.

We stayed at hotel st Regis for the first time a week ago and did not enoy the time there. The front desk workers were hardly helpful and completely rude! When we asked for a cot because we were given a room with one bed when we asked for a room with two beds the woman at the front desk kept us on the phone for 20 minutes "helping" us get a cot, after […] 20 minutes of silence we asked what was going on can we get a cot? She responded "nope". Refused to give us a cot because "we got a good deal on the room" mind you we got the wrong room. Vallet was unorganized and was over priced if you didn't want to park on yhe street. Devamı

I thought the hotel was beautiful,but there just wasnt enough stuff to do in your hotel. I was just sitting in the lobby with nothing to do at nine o clock.

The hotel staff was nice and friendly. Room was clean and beds were comfy. The only complaint was that even though there weren't many people in the hotel, we could hear the conversation of others and from the sidewalk, but I would def stay at this hotel again, especially for the price. The other negative was that it took almost an hour to get a cab, […] when the front desk said it would only take minutes, so if you need a cab, make sure you give yourself plenty of time! Devamı

I don't understand any of the negative reports on the St. Regis. The hotel was clean; the staff knowledgeable and helpful; the food was good; the TV worked fine and the bed was comfortable.

Hotel was nice enough, the bed was really comfortable the valet, and other guest services a is in great need of a customer service class. This was the first time in my life that a valet opened the door for my husband but not my door!!!! It turned out to be the norm as we had two different gentelmen do the exact same thing. Also, they didn't offer to […] help take our bags to our room. My husband is usually a VERY generous tipper but because of the service he only left a nominal amount. The housekeepers NEVER said a greeting which is basic. Devamı

Decent hotel conveniently located 10 minutes from The Filmore and Fox Theaters (concerts), Tiger's and Ford Stadiums, and Greek Town. About a $12 cab ride. Staff was quick and friendly. Neighborhood is a little sketchy at night, but overall it's a safe area. Rooms are decent, and beds were comfortable.

The St. Regis is a historic hotel in Detroit. The area has lost its lustre since GM moved from near the hotel to the Ren Cen. The service and rooms are nice. Couldn't control heat in the room which was our only issue.

Wow-- as a weekly traveler, the price of the rooms (I rented two) would have led me to believe that this place would be, at a minimum: ok. It was not. Carpet that desperately needed a vacuum. Broken HVAC (that looked like it had not worked, in years), a comical roll of toilet paper ON THE SINK COUNTER that had been "pointed" -- huh? Fix the holder for […] it, don't point it. Stayed in this hotel because I liked the location. It is close to downtown without being directly downtown. There is also a police station very close to the hotel as well. While the room was clean and adequate the water in the shower and sink would not get hot. Even after this issue being "fixed" it would give a very short burst of warm water and then […] turn to lukewarm at best. It is a shame since hot water seems like standard issue this day in age. I don't need fancy televisions or lamps, but I do want my room to have hot water. Devamı

I enjoy staying here. The staff is always friendly. Although the AC didn't work in my room, someone came by and talked with me about it and fixed it and always brought a fan! Way to go!

The service at the St. Regis in Detroit is excellent. Although it is an older hotel, they really have done an excellent job of keeping the atmosphere up to date and classic all at the same time. I will definitely stay there again!

We were provided this hotel on line. Unfortunately we were surprised at the valet parking for an additional charge. the valet service was quick and quite professional, but unexpected. The continental breakfast was lacking but when requesting more coffee, the waiter was accomodating and very pleasant. The desk staff were angels. No fridge or microwaveThanksgiving […] weekend. Room was clean, staff accomodating and I would definitely return knowing the little things i am normally use to in the hotels I frequently visit. Decor is very classy with a taste of history. I've stayed there before and it was ok. Friendly staff and a pretty decent sized room. My only issue was that the bathroom didn't seem to be cleaned well. It's a good place if you want to avoid the much more expensive places downtown, but don't expect too much. There aren't any good places to eat around.

Our stay wasn't bad but it wasn't as fabulous as I would have thought it would be. The hotel pics are a bit misleading. We stayed on 5th floor and our room was uncomfortably HOT. Apparently the lower floors 1-3 have cooler rooms b/c heat rises to the top. Hotel cuts off AC in winter so u can't turn on Ac in your individual room even if u wanted to. […] On some good notes the staff was extremely nice, courteous, and helpful. Location great. "New Center Eatery" restaurant across the street had the best food if u like soul food and chicken and waffles! We were close to the museums which is what we wanted so our stay was about a 3. Devamı

Check-in went rather smooth, but, as was the case with past experiences, they appear to be understaffed for the arrival of most guests. My room was nicely appointed, however, there were three noticeable large stains on the carpet in the room. The beds were comfy and the room itself was more than adequate. The hotel is a convenient location, only a mere […] 3 mile cab ride to downtown. The surrounding area leaves much to be desired, but it is walkable. The average guest would not likely want to assume this risk, however. I self parked at a structure just behind the hotel for $12/day, and felt that my car was safer in the process. The hotel otherwise charges $14 for valet to park vehicles in a unpatrolled and unsecured surface lot directly behind the hotel. Devamı

After reading the reviews on hotels.com, we were a little apprehensive about staying at this hotel, but most everything else in this price range in downtown Detroit was booked. We were very pleased with the Hotel St. Regis and would stay there again! The lobby was just lovely and our room was perfect. Everything was very clean and the staff was super […] nice and helpful. I am so happy I did not pay full price for this room because it was definatly not worth it full price, but I did get it at 40% off. It was suppose to have a fridge in the room. We told the desk and they said they would have it when we got back. Well it was not there when we came back and called they said they were going to bring it right now and said […] they couldn't do it while we were gone because we had 2 key cards and if they came in it would deactivate our keys. Well an hour later we called again about the fridge. No one knew about it and they asked if we would like it now or in the morning. Duh I want it tonight. When we finally got it it was dirty and rusty. I have seen better fridges at motel 6. The staff was nice and the lobby was real nice. You were required to use the vallet service. The hotel for the most part was great... cheap cost, staff very helpful, valet, and close to downtown. But... breakfast; what breakfast. Slim to none choices and dirty eating area. In hotel resturaunt not open the 2 of 3 night stay. Rooms are small which isn't a problem if you aren't spending much time in room. One tip is to be sure and check your end […] total for cost because we were getting charged for movies and valets that were not ours. All in all I would give it a 4 out of 5 though because of the helpful staff. Devamı

I enjoyed my stay there. The receptionist was super friendly and helpful and the room was nice, too. There were some stains on the carpet, but the room and bathroom were generally clean. It might get a little noisy at night, but I felt absolutely safe, since they have a lot of security personnel there. As far as location is concerned: it's really close […] to Wayne State's campus and about 3.5 miles from downtown. Pretty good deal - I'd definitely stay there again. Devamı

This is probably the best hotel for the money in close proximity to downtown you can find. The rooms are ok (clean etc) and the service is o.k. (didn't really need them for much). If the price of the hotel were the same as say the Courtyard Marriot downtown, I would stay at the Marriot but chances are it's not.

The hotel is very well kept with old school grand decor inside and out and my 3 day stay was fine except for the fact that one of the main reasons I booked the hotel was becasue of the restaurant/live music etc advertised online but when I got there everything was closed down for at least a month I was told at the desk, besides the $14 a day valet parking […] fee made the stay not at all economical again as there was no room service nor any decent restaurants within walking distance.
