The Annex at the Chelsea - Atlantic City

I have stayed at this hotel before and was very happy with everything. Its such a cute and chic little hotel. At least that is what the lobby and the Luxe tower want you to believe. I stayed in the Luxe tower the first time I stayed here and I was so pleased I decided to stay here again however i was in the Annex part of the hotel. I couldnt have been […] more disapointed. The toilet was so old that it took a couple of tries to flush, the bathroom lock and door knob were gone, and over all it was just not a nice room. This hotel has really been designed to appeal to women. They've really done a great job decorating the common areas. The spa, club, and restaurant are all gorgeous and really don't necessitate you to even leave the place to have a good time. When you're celebrating a bachelorette party they give you free drink coupons! It's right on the boardwalk and […] just around the corner from the tropicana. The only thing that I didn't realize is that the "Annex" is off in the corner and hasn't really been updated yet, so it's really a bit of a let down after such an amazing entrance at the front desk. really clean, friendly staff, close to beach, excellent pool / bar on rooftop - loved it. Only gripe is that neither pool gets any sun after 2-3pm - it is in the shade, so must go to beach for sun - but the hotel has a sectino where you can get chairs / umbrellas for free just opposite hotel on beach - wow - that made our trip! The beds were very comfortable; the staff was very pleasant; it was clean, we could see the ocean from our room, and it was very centrally located. On the down side, there was no coffee maker, the elevator only worked when it wanted to and the room smelled a little musty. It was a great deal for the price! We really had a good time in A.C. Our only complaint was the elevator in the Annex was slow slow, we mostly walked the 4 flights was quicker than waiting for the elevator. The Annex had a great rate, and I see why. It needs an update. It is fine for a short stay. But next time I would like to try the Tower..

The room itself was clean but there were some maintenance issues. There was mold and peeling paint in the bathroom. Plus, in order to use one of the lamps, you had to unplug the television. The whole pool/bar/restaurant schedule was confusing. We had no idea what was open and when. People had to wait quite a while to get their cars from the valet at checkout. Check-in lines were horrendous. Mass confusion. Too few check-in clerks and those working were rude. Half filled beer bottle left in stairwell for two days straight. Large hotel garbage bags outside my room upon check-in. No soap in room. Dirty napkin left on top of lamp next to bed. As the saying goes, you get what you pay for. Such was the case last week-end, when I booked what I thought was a great deal for a short stay in AC. I had heard some good things about The Chelsea, but did not realize that the older part of this hotel, called "The Annex" was a complete dump! Starting with the street vew that the rooms face onto, to the […] fact that there is room to pull-up your car in order to unload your luggage. The look of The Annex is so sleezy and dirty, and the general neighborhood looked so unsafe, that I didn't feel comfortable getting out of my car, and I never bothered checking in -- I just took a loss, and left as soon as possible. I booked 4 nights at The Annex at The Chelsea Hotel and hated coming back to the room at the end of the day. The elevator took forever to get up and down 4 floors, our "water view" was of the HVAC units on the roof, the saltwater pool was always full of people, I was guaranteed an upgrade from The Annex to an ocean view by one guy and then was told […] the next morning that was completely un-doable. There was no fridge or microwave, and the only parking option is valet... oh and did I mention we had our 1 year old daughter with us and she pinched her fingers everyday on the broken dresser drawer that wouldn't stay shut. Not to mention I couldn't keep her milk cold without a fridge so we frequented the DD down the street everyday. On a lighter note, The Chelsea IS right on the boardwalk and you get complimentary towels, chairs and umbrellas on the beach and it's right next to the Tropicana's shopping area "The Quarter". I recommend P.F. Chang's for affordable alcoholic drinks and beer and large, affordable portions :) The Chelsea Hotel is in fact, really pretty inside but the Annex seemed "old and forgotten". the elevator in the annex was not working well, very slow and only one was working. used the steps for most of the stay.

The annex looked like a dressed up red roof inn, total joke. The room literally looked like a jail cell; three small windows on one side near the top of the ceiling.

this is the only think we didn t like. We had to pay a deposit fee at the time of the check in. This fee was in addition to the reservation.

The annex is connected to the Chelsea and while its quality and upkeep is more dated then the Chelsea it was well worth the price for us. We still had access to the pool and I didn't have any noise or room complaints. We asked to be in a room with the sleep number mattresses and it was no problem. I stayed here with a group of 10 women and we had a great time! The hotel was very nice, the staff was friendly and very helpful! Beds were comfortable, rooms were clean. Rooftop pool was amazing and so much fun! Location was perfect! Right next to the Tropicana! Will definitely be back to stay again!

The hotel is not at all good for stay, I was there for a day but the hotel is not at all good to stay. The bathroom was pathetic, AC was not working, I changed my room for the reason but same story in the second room also. there where people urinading in the stairs beer bottles by elevator food thrown on floor and the elevator should of been in better shape will never stay there again

only some of the rooms have the good sleep number beds that are advertised. the rest of the rooms still have old beds and the carpets were gross. We went as a group and had gotten 3 rooms. first floor room was redone but 3rd floor wasnt. First floor had 2 flights of steps to walk up wasn't really a first floor and the elevators are not currently working […] which we were unaware of when we booked. convienence to the tropicana casino was perfect Devamı

The hotel was a lot better than what I was expecting based on reviews. It's no 4 star hotel, but that's not what I paid for. The room and bathroom were clean, though a little musty. Some other reviews had given me a slightly off impression before my arrival, but it was a great stay. Everyone was professional and courteous. Valet was excellent, room clean and comfortable. Great view of the Pool. Nice lounge for a personal experience in the hotel, close to one of my favorite casino's Tropicana (where there are great bars and clubs […] that stay open almost all night). Cabs came quick and continuous. Perfect for the Usher concert, then the next day walked the boardwalk down to Resorts for all you can eat buffet while enjoying the shops, beach, mall, Ripleys believe it or not and to top it off caught a push cart back for $10 bucks while Chelsea Annex kept our car free of charge.... very satisfying and well priced! The negative, is the hotels old, but polished up... it worked out tho. The room was small, but comfy, and i was very close to the pool - i could here occupants the next morning, but that helped me out of bed in time to enjoy the day... Room was very dark with low ceilings and dingy walls. Door to adjoining room was broken at the top and had nearly a 2 inch gap at the bottom- very creepy considering we were not traveling with the people in the adjoining room and could hear and smell the "party" going on in the next room. Bathroom door was also smashed at the bottom as if someone had […] kicked it repeatedly. Shower was disgusting and stained in the bottom with plenty of mildew on the walls. The only saving grace of this hotel is its location. Steps from the boardwalk, between the Hilton and Tropicana. The staff is friendly. Everything else was despicable. The room was not clean, sheet rock pieces on the carpet, the carpet was full of stains and shredded, the bathroom with mold in the corners, the sink and bathtub looked like dirt was part […] of the style and the tub faucet pop out of the wall on the last day. The beds caused us back pains and the room keys were invalid at some point of our stay. Never had housekeeping services coming to our room. One of the elevator doors would open/close just half way. They call themselves retro-style. It is ok to be retro-themed. But unless dirt and bad maintanance were part of the 70's, the conditions were unnacceptable. For all these inconveniences this hotel was just too expensive. I will never stay there again or would reccommend it to anyone. Devamı

We were only steps from the boardwalk. The price for the two nights was great. The room was great, bathroom could have been updated and the elevator was just awful. I've stayed at the Chelsea several times. This was my first time at the Annex. I was a little nervous based on some previous reviews, but for the money I paid, everything was nice. Was it the Taj Mahal? No, but for the price I paid to stay on the boardwalk on a holiday weekend, it was well worth it. It's an old hotel, and everything was just fine. The Chelsea is a hotel conveniently located almost on the boardwalk. The Annex portion of it is a much lower grade than the tower. However, the tower rooms are very clean and comfortable, with wonderful views of the Atlantic Ocean and Boardwalk. They also have an elegant 60's style look. The rooms have very comfortable seating and sleeping space and […] a flat-screen tv. The beds are the most comfortable hotel beds I've ever slept on, with plush, white down comforters and lots of pillows. For those of us who wish to stay connected wherever we go, free wireless is offered. The bathrooms have clear glass showers, which are open, which give the room a spacious open, airy feel. Much to my chagrin, the rooms lack coffeemakers, and the refrigerators are actually prestocked bars, fully stocked with very expensive alcohol and soft drinks. It would have been better to supply empty refrigerators to guests who wish to stock it, themselves, with leftovers from their meals, or other snack and drink items. The people at the front desk are always pleasant and accommodating, and checking in and out of the hotel is always a pleasant experience. Devamı

check in did take a bit longer than expected but front desk staff were wonderful and our rooms were up graded. we were put in the luxe tower. i would have liked to have seen the spa but it was closed. could not have asked for anything else.

was not happy with my room. was old & seemed dirty. bathroom had an mildew smell. no hot water in the sink. hot water knob in the shower leaked. there was a drip coming frm room above outside on the balcony. one of the dresser draws was missing a handle. just expected place to be really nice & it was so old & run down.

The hotel was a good deal for the money. The bathroom was very dated, but clean. The room was fine. The elevator and hallways were dated. It was in a good location...right off the boardwalk and within walking distance to many casinos. All in all, I would stay there again if the rates were as good.

false advertisement. failure to inform guest about the hotel policy. long wait to check in. room is small. bathroom is small. my boyfriends bathroom is much better looking than this hotel. pool is dirty full of sand. elevator is small it can only fit 4 people. no refrigerator. no customer service. parking was horrible, waiting for our car for an hour. not […] worth the price. i couldve stayed at some random motel and probably enjoyed the stay. overall, i regret staying at this hotel and never again would i go back at the chelsea hotel. highly NOT recommended. While I believe the actual Chelsea Hotel is nice the Annex is very overrated. It's for young people who like to party. We wre there to visit my husbands brother and we were unable to take them to our room. I we were unable to sleep all night due to people in the halls still partying after hours. We were still hearing them in the hall at 5am.
