Monterey Downtown Travelodge - Monterey

We were there for a quick trip to the aquarium and just needed a place to sleep. This place was cheap and comfortable. The outside is pretty boring but the rooms are all updated nicely and the continental breakfast int he morning was just enough to get us on the road! Highly recommend for a comfortable and cheap stay.

This is a comfortable place to lay your head for a few nights. They offered us a good price in low season. The location is excellent, within walking distance to top attractions in Monterey, including the famous aquarium (a little over a mile away I would guess). Breakfast is basic but enough for simple tastes.

Outlets in bathroom did not work, the front door had to be slammed shut for it to close, water from shower head barely came through. However, The bed was comfy and it wasn't as noisy as I thought it might be due to the New Years celebration going on.

Great location. Good price. Old construction. (Thin walls, oddly laid-out room.) Noisy. Significant street and nearby-guest noise. Would recommend it for staying in Monterey on budget. But bring ear-plugs.

Convenient location if you can walk a few blocks. Great bargain. Terrific rates for the location. Free parking is a plus. Breakfast was good enough. Room had everthing we needed. Will stay here again.

Before purchasing a room for 2 nights, we noticed that the overall rating on the Travelodge was 4 out of 5 stars. This was great! The Price was right and knowing that others were pleased with their stay was helpful and pretty much the determining factor in our decision to stay there. Unfortunately, when I logged in to check our information online just […] a month later the rating had fallen to 2 out of 5 stars. I was concerned and apprehensive. Turns out that we had a good stay. The staff was very friendly, the beds are extremely comfortable, and this place worked perfectly for what we needed: a place to sleep comfortably and shower. Close to everywhere you want to be for a cheap price.

Great location but it also means a lot of noise, especially considering the Chevron station right in front of it. The towels were tiny and a bit dingy looking. Shower head really low, shower itself was odd/outdated. Walls b/w rooms are very thin-we could hear other guests conversations. The building itself needs to be renovated-the parking garage felt […] a little sketchy. From the reviews I had read, I expected more from this hotel. On the other hand, the rooms had flat screens, beds were very comfortable and the staff were very cordial and helpful. I had left two designer jackets behind and they were found and being shipped back to me. Good to know the staff can be trusted. But I doubt I will stay at this hotel again. Devamı

Good location for anything in Monterey or surrounded area like Carmel, Seaside, Marina. Walking distance to a few Cafe, Bakery and Resturant. Close by to Monterey Cannery Row and Monterey Fisherman Wharf. The only problem I have with this hotels is. Is that you have to slam your door pretty hard to get it lock. Excellent value for money. Manager very helpful. Free underground parking and WiFi that worked. Very well placed to walk to most sites in Monterey. Room layout works well.

Great value accommodation. While the building is obviously a little older, rooms seemed recently remodeled. We were within a few minutes walk to many downtown restaurants - about 10-15 minutes walk to fisherman's warf. The transit depot is about 2 blocks away and from there you can catch the shuttle around town, to aquarium, cannery row, etc.

If the motel had paid a little bit of extra cash to invest in some curtains that actually covered the entire content of my room to the outside world, that would have been nice. Light from the parking lot/gas station streamed in through the virtually curtain-less window, keeping me up. The walls are incredibly thin so that noise from the outside parking […] lot and next door neighbor's music device also did not help my sleep schedule. The bed, while Queen-sized, was not soft. It lacked insulation, and while there is a heating system, I did not want to use it because it droned like a car engine. Devamı

We are not well-traveled. We are not hotel experts. We wanted something simple. A place to sleep in between adventures to Monterey. We got a lot more. Clean, comfortable room. Walking distance to the Trolley (free during summer). We even walked from Fisherman's Wharf to the hotel though it was a bit tiring and we suggest taking the trolley. Pros: Clean, […] great location, pretty good continental breakfast (muffins, cereal, yogurt, fruit, boiled eggs, milk, coffee, juice), Fridge and haridryer in room, no traffic noise in the room, close to places to eat. Cons: Walls a little thin - not bad, not a ton of parking upstairs - but have underground, not very spacious shower - no big deal, they did not leave a million dollars under the pillow - darn. Definitely recommend for folks on a budget. Might be different if you expect hotel to be part of the goods of a vacation. For us, it was an accessory to vacation. Hope this helps. Devamı

We were traveling with another family and requested to get rooms next to eachother. The management gave us adjoining rooms. It really made our stay that much more enjoyable. The location of the hotel is great, only minutes to Dennis the Menace park, the Aquarium and Cannery row. The breakfast in the morning was really good, more than just your average […] motel continental breakfast. We were also please that they have a private parking garage for guests. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a relaxing vacation in Monterey. We will definitely stay here again, especially since the price is reasonable and I felt I got more than if I would have stayed at one of the more expensive hotels. Devamı

My family and I have been to Monterey many times but this is the first time staying at the Travelodge Downtown. Great place, nice, friendly, accommodating staff and walking distance to Fisherman's Wharf. Would definitely stay again!

Seemed pretty clean. Nice staff the times we spoke with them. Nice to have free wi-fi in room. Conveniently located right off freeway... Easy to find. Only thing that was a bit disappointing was the shower was designed for someone 3 foot 2. Also the parking lot was crammed and small. We had to park on street as there were not enough spaces for the guests. […] But all in all the room served its purpose with a clean place to sleep. Devamı

This hotel isn't new but well maintain, the good things: The windows open!, the bed was so comfortable, No fridge in the room to disconnect, no microwave yupiii, we had a nice clean comfortable room, walking distance to coffee shopes (our favorite passtime), down town, the trolley that takes you to Canary drive and the aquarium, so we parked the car […] the whole time we were there, all the restaurants around the hotel were very nice. Also as the hotel building is a bit older the walls are Thick and you don't hear the next door people breathing. Devamı

Overall it is a very good motel for a reasonable price, a bit noisy in the early morning due to the street right next to it.

You need to arrive early to get room for your car in the parking garage. They do not have enough place so all guests can park at the hotel. The rooms are OK. The breakfast was on minimum level... So: Overall fair enough if you just need a place to sleep and then move one the next morning...

older hotel that got kind of fixed up but decent breakfast quiet and good service from the staff

The hotel looks a bit old and worn on the outside but the rooms don't seem that way at all. They are nice, clean and very comfortable, with all the furniture one might need. Hotel service is friendly and willing to help with whatever they can.

Although this hotel doesn't look like too much fun from the outside, painted in an awful green color with a gas station as the closest neighbor, the inside is a surprise. The room was clean, with very comfortable beds. However, the road passing by can have heavy traffic so ear plugs might be necessary for a good nights sleep. Even though we were there […] during a busy weekend, there was no problem finding parking. There is parking both in front of the hotel, and also an underground garage. There is a small pool, located right above the entrance to said garage. Not a very inviting pool area, however, so we stayed away. Just a short walk down to the old wharf, with many restaurants and small shops. The breakfast was what can be expected from a continental one, cereal, toast and yoghurt. Not worse or better than I've had anywhere else. Finally, the staff was very helpful when I had questions which is always a huge plus for me! Devamı

Booked it on a whim and it was cheap. Outside is worrisome because it is older looking. The rooms are way nicer than the outside of the building. Comfy beds, very clean. Convenient location, we walked everywhere. Great resources for traveling in and around Monterey. Breakfast is good, hotel workers nice.

Wasnt great and it wasnt bad...I could have stayed somewhere a lil better for the price im sure though.

About 10-15 minute walk to Fisherman's Wharf. For a two star property we were pretty satisfied with the cleanliness and comfort of the room! Continental breakfast is lacking. The decor / room amenities could do with some updating but it's perfectly fine if you just want somewhere basic & simple to put your head down. It is a Travelodge after all... The bed was more comfortable than most, a pleasant surprise.

This motel is ideal for a stopover in Monterey. Its in a good location, less than 10 minutes walk from the Fishermans Wharf area. We were provided with plenty of information about the area on check-in. The rooms are spacious and the beds are very comfortable. The wifi is super-fast unlike the majority of hotels we stayed in! The room was ok. I consider myself a small person, and the shower was more of a rinse as I had to bend over to wash my hair. If you stay here get the top floor as the walls and floors are thin. Other than that it was a comfy rest! The breakfast consisted of two cereal types, various muffins, toast tea and coffee.

Hotel was surprisingly nice for a two star hotel. Staff very friendly and helpful. Beds were very comfortable. Only complaint was the street noise. If you are a light sleeper I do not recommend that you stay here. Location is next to a gas station and on a main street. The Travelodge was centrally located near Fisherman's Wharf, restaurants, and bars. Our room was very clean and the staff were friendly and helpful. I would stay here again and would definitely recommend this to friends and other travelers.

My wife and I have stayed at a lot of motels, but this motel has the best beds we have ever slept on. The rooms are old but they are clean. The location is great because it is close to all the fast food breakfast places and other restaurants we like to go to. The staff are friendly and helpful. I can say the only downfall is the parking. If you have […] a large vehicle it is a hassle to park it, because some of their parking is in a parking garage, and my truck is too tall to fit, and it is a stock 4X4 not lifted at all. They did however allow me to park my truck in the managers parking spot which really helped me, so they were accommodating! Overall we will not stay anywhere else when we are in Monterey, we always look forward to sleeping in these beds, they are so comfortable! Devamı

While this hotel is dated and not for everyone, you can't beat the convenient location and value for $. The continental breakfast is very basic, but satisfactory for those that needing just a bowl of cereal, toast, muffin, juice and coffee to start the day. If your looking for a room that's also convenient to Old Monterey, but newer and having more […] character, I recommend the adjacent Casa(s) Munras or Abrego. They sometimes have deals that will only cost $20-40 more than the Travel Lodge. Devamı

Great Location! Great Price! One cannot beat this location and the deal on the room. Room a bit small, but we really don't need a larger room. The only complaints were shower was small and the bathroom fan rattled. One could be fixed, the other not. After it all, I am definately going back, it's well worth it for the area!

Easy to find and everything is very near two gas stations, a Dennys even a Jack in the box a block up the road. When we arrived the clerk had our paperwork ready for in case of a black out. We were informed of breakfast and asked if we were familiar with the area and if we needed directions. Our room was very comfortable, but for in case you dont notice […] your fridge on its because you have to plug it in yourself. I am tall and so the shower was smaller than most but my kids fit fine. Even though there were showers through out our stay parking was outside our room and the walkway to the office was covered. I do recommend if you want to have a good rest dont stay on the first floor everyone passes by your window. We have two kids we are used to everything just small recommendations for everyone else.
