Howard Johnson Inn Fenway Park - Boston

Safe, fantastic location, great housekeeping service, but sarcastic, unhelpful, front desk staff.

Location is good, the beds are comfortable, bathrooms and rooms are functional. However, the internet is unreliable, the hotel is very dated and run down in places (worn carpaets, peeling paint and mildew on windows). Bed bugs were an issue for our stay. Rather over priced for what we got.

I did not like this Hotel, the personnel at reception were not very helpful. They could not answer any questions I asked them. Simple questions like how far is to boston common? Every answer was a yes and a no. That frustrated me so much! It was one of the worst experiences of my travelling around the world. The hotel was too far from the main shopping centre, and any time my wife and i got into a taxi it cost us 15 to 20 dollars. The hotel was a bit outdated, but clean with a friendly staff. A little far from a T station.

Basically a basic place to stay. Reasonably clean and comfortable.

Hotel could use some updating. Very odd set up but super close to Fenway!

Although the building itself needs updating, the room was very clean, beds comfortable, and the in room ammenaties exactly what we required. We were attending a Red Sox game (first in a long time for me), and I was thrilled to find just how close we were to the Park. I intend to make this the first of many visits to come.

I have to admit that I was nervous to stay there after the many poor reviews regarding the cleanliness and the upkeep of the building and the interaction with the staff. However, we were very pleasantly surprised upon our arrival. The beds were super comfortable. The parking was convenient, the room extremely clean and the staff super friendly. The hotel is in a GREAT location however no maintenance has been performed since the 1970's. The building is in AWFUL condition. There was no hot water, the Air Conditioning worked intermittantly, and the carpet was so dirty that my socks were black from walking around for 10 minutes.

Staff was good, and the place was clean. Location is GREAT! Just around the corner from Fenway. The place is old and is in dyer need of updating. The mattress was not very comfy. If just going to Fenway. It ia great location. However tub didn't drain and you can't control the room temperature It was often warm in the room in august. The pool was also closed and was not Told ahead of time.

Paid thru Hotels.com, then hotel charged my card after my stay even though they told me I owed nothing at check out.

2 minutes away from Fenway. Was perfect for us.

Worst hotel that I have ever stayed at. We walked into the room and were hit with a smell of mildew and mold. It was disgusting and dirty. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone at all. It was definitally the worst experience that I had in a hotel ever.

This hotel is a great location looking at fenway park from your hotel window. The bad thing about this hotel is the air condition didnt work well. It is an old hotel and needs to be upgraded. We switched rooms and had to be giving a fan to stay cool. But other then that it we had a great time and the staff were very helpful.

Fantastic location, two minutes to Fenway, bars and restaurants everywhere and close to the Boston Subways. The hotel is older but our room was huge with a nice balcony. Couldn't have asked for much more, the rooms were old with old furniture but were clean and very large. $20 for parking was reasonable as well. The staff was not knowledgeable. There is a separate fee for parking. The toilet in the room was difficult to flush (traveled with 2 children both under the age of 10), the shower faucet leaked, the room was on the warm side (couldn't adjust the temperature any lower) and the bedding on one bed felt like it would disintegrate.

Great location and located close to the T and local attractions. The only down side was no ac that we could find and matress would not be comfortable for extended stays but good for an overnight! most affordable for the neighborhood!

After reading a number of very critical reviews, I only reluctantly went ahead and booked a room here because of the price and location. The lobby was very plain and the hotel will win no design awards. Staff was courteous, helpful and professional. They went out of their way to give directions, arrange taxi and T travel, and recommend nearby food service. My room was clean and comfortable; and reasonably priced.

When we checked in, the help behind the front desk were not very friendly at all. They seemed stressed for some reason. The lobby had no air-conditioning. The breakfast that was offered in the Chinese restaurant was horrible and overpriced. They had nothing available that was printed on their menu. I couldln't even get an english muffin.!! Every breakfast […] item was al la carte and very expensive, and the pancakes tasted like frozen pancakes. Awful!! However, The bar and Chinese restaurant for dinner were SPECTACULAR!!!. EXCELLENT Chinese Food and the bartenders at the bar were great and very friendly. The lady who checked me out on Sunday was a doll. She was extremely helpful. All in all, our stay was fine. Unfriendly staff at front desk. Did not make us feel welcome and did not ask how our stay was when we checked out. Water in shower took 15 minutes to warm up and tub trained very slowly. Stood in ankle deep cold water while showering. Hotel in great need of updating. Room smelled like carpet deodorizer and chairs in front lobby were worn and dirty. […] The location was the only positive attribute of this hotel. Even a bunch of Yankee fans have nothing bad to say about the hotel. Great location, clean, and a courteous staff.

Great location, tolerable accomodations

Microwave did not work . Coffeepot didn't work. Heating unit very loud and took long time to heat room. Lobby furniture should be updated. Wooden tables were in need of refinishing from water stains and peeling finish. Took half hour to get a staff member to deliver extra coffee/tea packets to room.

the hotel is pretty run down, and somewhat shabby - but the room was fine, the wifi worked and the beds were comfortable. It's all about the location - while they are next to fenway park, they don't have to make an effort. somewhat annoying was the $18/night parking fee.

Hotel was in a good location. Overall, the room was clean, the staff were friendly. We did not eat at any of the restaurants so cannot comment. Its an older hotel and the a/c was marginal. The mattress was very firm and not very comfortable. the bedside light could not be plugged in due a mismatch with the outlet. the windows and door to the outside […] needed some repairs and possible replacement. It was really cheap and in a good location, but the room was not of high quality. They did a good job of keeping it clean, but it smelled a lot like Chinese food because of the restaurant downstairs. There is one thing I am going to say about this hotel. They have the rudest stuff of any hotel I have ever been in my entire life. I travel weekly to 2 different states and half my time is in hotels. This place is a definite no no to anyone who is looking to stay at a decent place.

I mean, come on! This hotel is located across the street from Fenway Park, so you know that it's probably booked for every one of the ninety or so home games the Sox play each year. Moreover, they charge fans to park in their lot during games. This tells me that they should have the finances to keep things maintained. However, quite the opposite was […] true. Even the lobby was dated, fine. But when we got to the room we found the curtains stained and the ceiling roughly patched from where it had obviously had water damage in the past. Given that the period of our stay was a very rainy one, we soon found out why. There was water dripping along the windows of our room, 218, for the entire duration of our stay. To be fair, they did offer to move us on our last night. However this would have been more trouble than it was worth. Perhaps a better policy would be to PUT SOME MONEY into this goldmine of a property. The final insult was that they said that they would instead look into giving us a discount. That never happened. Otherwise, the location could not be better for someone coming to Boston for a Red Sox game. We could open our window and basically hear the game take place over the public address system. It was exciting. But, please, the HoJo management shouldn't use the convenient fact of their location to hold people hostage to bad rooms. Renovate the place this winter! Devamı

The location of the hotel can't be beat -- and it's written in every other review. But, what makes this place that much more valuable is the great Chinese restaurant on site. While many of the other area bars are wrapping up the night and closing their kitchens, this place offers some excellent Chinese food well into the night. Hotels needs to be updated. Room seemed like it was decorated from the 70's. Room was clean but there was previous damage done and it need to be fixed. Doorways had holes in it. Ceiling had marks on it.

The hotel is one block from Fenway and fairly cheap. But, the check in is at 4pm, the hotel is very old and shoddy, 3 out of our 4 lamps did not work, and the staff was rude to us at the front desk.

The hotel was clean, comfortable beds, nice small swimming pool, quiet environment. If you are there in connection with the Red Sock, great place to stay. Walking distance, less than a quarter of a mile. If you like to visit Boston City, a bit too far to walk.
