Holiday Inn St. Louis - Forest Park/Hampton Ave. - St. Louis

We arrived late Friday afternoon. We checked into the hotel and asked the ladies at the front desk where we might go to dinner - we were looking for a good place to have a burger and a beer and watch the rest of the Cardinals game. Although the hotel looked nice and the beds were comfy, the walls were extremely thin. We were kept up until 3AM by the people next door. There were two men, and although they weren't being particularly loud, we could hear them talking and their t.v. We called the front desk to complain and they sent security up there. I guess other people complained […] because security went up there more than once. Why didn't they offer the men a different room, without people next door or ask them to please go to the lobby to talk? They should have offered us a refund at least. So, I have rated the hotel low simply because of this, because no matter how nice it looked or how comfortable the beds are, its all of no use if you can't get any sleep. Devamı

My fiancé and I stayed here on a weekend getaway. The hotel is just a few minutes from the main attractions that we planned to see and do, such as Busch Stadium and the Arch. It was conveniently located a few minutes from everything. When we arrived, the hotel staff was very courteous and helpful. The room was pretty clean. The only thing I noticed […] was a little bit of dust buildup on the lamp base. The bed was super comfortable and we slept well. I will say that the walls seemed kind of thin, as we could hear people joking around in the next room. It wasn't overly loud and wasn't late at night so we weren't bothered by it. Towels were very clean as was the bathroom. The next morning, we used our breakfast voucher at the downstairs restaurant. It was very busy, but the hotel restaurant staff was very diligent in gettin our order and food served. That breakfast was amazing. My fiancé had a country type breakfast with biscuits and gravy and I had pancakes. I think, hands down, those were the best pancakes I have ever eaten! All-in-all, we had a very nice stay and would stay again if we travel up to STL again. Devamı

We showed up very early to drop off our luggage and was greeted by a young lady named Samantha. She gave us two excellent restaurant recommendations based on our criteria (One nearby because we were starving and another she thought we'd like based on why we were in St. Louis). Both were excellent and perfect for us. Another morning, I stumbled half-asleep […] to the desk to get some help reading the bus schedule and again was met by a staff member who was very willing to help me. As far as the room, there was nothing I could truly complain about. The sheets and bathroom were clean. I got a room with only one bed so the room was pretty small. There were no extra amenities whatsoever -- no fridge or microwave but at appx. a hundred bucks a night I wasn't expecting that much more. The hotel was too far away from the things I planned to do (symphony at Powell Hall), but that was my fault. (They looked much closer on the map, lol). I knew it wasn't within walking distance but I seriously underestimated the public transit system. While I would've preferred a bigger, brighter room, I had to give this hotel an overall rating of 5 because of how everyone I encountered was always willing to help me get too and from where I was going. I stayed at the Holiday Inn for work purposes. I was in MO for a quick 1-night stay. The concierge was friendly and extremely efficient. I had my 9lb dog with me and he everyone was overly polite to him. The $25 pet fee is one of the cheaper ones I've seen. The only reason I give it a 4 is due to the surrounding area and the extremely slow elevator. […] I went to the gas station with-in walking distance and immediately was approached by a woman asking for $20 in gas. After I made my purchases and left I was again approached by another person asking for money. It's not the best place for entertainment with in walking distance but for the price it's great. You can tell they recently have done renovations and they look modern and up to date. Devamı

Its the nicest hotel I've stayed in that I was able to bring my dog to. Their $25 pet feeis very reasonable, especially since the hotel had modern (newer) decor.

My first room had a toilet that didn't work, my second room had a cricket in it, my third room had no toilet paper and had a used washcloth hanging over the shower rod. The air conditioner was either on - loud and freezing, or off completely. Very hard to get comfortable. Clean, helpful staff, and convenient location for a zoo trip. Outdoor pool was nice & breakfast at attached restaurant was very good. Will stay here again!

I mostly care about cleanliness and working toilets/showers. All were excellent.

It was perfect! The hotel staff were fantastic and the room was nice, very comfortable and just what we were looking for in our price range. We will be back for sure!!!

Staff was great, very friendly and helpful. My only complaint is the ice machine on my floor didn't work so had to go to the 1st floor for ice.

The staff were excellent! Although we had a non-flushing toilet in our first room, they moved us quickly to another room, and even walked the keys upstairs. There were some noisy people in the room next to us, though; thin walls! However, the staff did everything possible to make our stay great.

The staff went out of their way to be super friendly. The elevators were outdated. By our second night stay the room had finally cooled off to 81 degrees, the third night was comfortable at 74. Air conditioners are thru the wall units that don't get turned on until you turn them on. There were crumbs on the floor throughout, and what a surprise it was […] when our one year old found a sponge bob sippy cup under the edge of the bed(not ours) with who knows what in it. Devamı

We had bed bug bites and noticed blood stained sheets - tell tale sign - from our 2 nights here. I reported it to the desk, I hope they will have rooms checked by experts and not housekeeping, who are obviously careless about washing sheets (all were covered with old blood stains).

Overall, a very nice stay. I'd seen mixed reviews online, and was wondering what I'd experience. Mostly it was a great experience. Staff was friendly and attentive, going out of their way on several occasions to help me out. Every staff member said hello and asked how I was doing, and it felt like they meant it. I'd like to single out Luwanda (I'm not […] sure of the spelling) at the front desk. Not only is she courteous and friendly, but she also bent over backwards to help check me in and to help later when my key card stopped working. The cleaning staff also made a great impression on me. They were there when I needed them and also very courteous. The room itself was very nice and very comfortable; much bigger than I would have expected. The beds were clean and comfortable, and everything was in excellent condition. Finally, the hotel restaurant was very good. Decent prices and very good food with lots of choices. Stayed here while moving to Chicago. Moving is horribly stressful, but this hotel was an oasis and the staff was incredibly friendly. I would stay here again in a heartbeat!

My friends and I had a college reunion of sorts and stayed in this hotel since it was close to one of my friends' house. It was meticulous! The staff was very friendly and when we asked about perhaps checking our AC out since it didn't seem to be working properly, although it was too late for a maintenance person to check it out, they comp'd us breakfast […] the next morning and offered to help move our stuff to a new room. There was free internet access both in the room and in the lobby as well as delicious fresh cookies, coffee and tea in the morning and iced tea all day. The pool is small and abuts the highway, but it's enough to cool off and catch some sun. There is a dive bar in walking distance, accessibility to rt 40 and lots of restaurants in the area. All in all, an excellent stay and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a nice hotel at a great price! Devamı

I have stayed at this hotel twice now and each time I am more than satisfied. The hotel staff is very accommodating and the room is comfortable. I stayed on the highway side and I could hardly hear the traffic on the highway, no noise from the neighboring guests either. Breakfast was a little expensive but there is a hardy’s right next door.

This hotel was perfect for my needs. Very close to downtown and the airport but with free parking. (A factor that played into choosing this location) It was also only one exit from the wedding I was in town for. The staff was helpful and friendly for the most part until I needed some rooms for family members who stayed in town an extra day. The hotel […] was full and they didn't even offer to check the other Holiday Inns in town to see if they had room. (there are a few) That is a small oversight only in my opinion. I stayed on the side facing the Interstate and the noise wasn't all that bad. If you are a light sleeper though, I would advise booking a room on the other side as you can tell you are sitting next to the Interstate. Construction appears to be mostly completed on the floors I saw. It still is obviously an older property though. They are still switching stuff around, new beds were being delivered one morning on the first floor while I was there and A/C units were replaced in other rooms. The elevator also sounds like a freight elevator, slow, tiny, and noisy. Worst part of the hotel in my opinion. All in all I liked in alot. I didn't eat there and there is a Duray inns across the street that costs more but has more free perks (Free breakfast, cocktail hour, etc.) but again it costs more. There is also a red roof behind the Holiday if you need a less expensive place to stay. The holidays beds are much more comfortable though. Devamı

Poor maintenance service for no air conditioning. Water flooding the room from ceiling because of water line break two floors up.

Hotel was in a great location for our activities on the Hill and in Forest Park. We had a long check-in process due to a water leak they were fixing and hadn't gotten some rooms clean yet. But they were helpful finding places to eat. Pool was nice but cool expected due to outdoor weather.

The staff was excellent. they put extras in my room per my request and it was there when I checked in. They were helpful with directions and everything else. I would definitely stay there again.

Hotel was an older hotel but was well kept and room was very comfortable and clean. Hotel was undergoing some renovation but aside from seeing construction materials in hallway it did not interfere with our stay at all. Only problem was the "free" breakfast. We were handed a voucher good for $20 for breakfast at the hotel restaurant. The voucher was […] good for the room, so if we would have had four people in the room each of us could have had $5 worth of food. As it was we were charged an additional $3 and change because we ordered more than $20 worth of breakfast. I don't have a problem with getting a $20 voucher but advertise it as a $20 voucher instead of a free breakfast. Otherwise, happy with the stay. There's a Denny's not far from the hotel anyway. the parking lot was fairly full both nights, but NEVER heard another guest or TV. The hotel is located just a few blocks from "The Hill" and just off I 44. close to Forest Park and very easy to get anywhere you want to go. Will consider staying there the next time I need to go to that part of St. Louis.

this hotel did a good job of serving its purpose during our recent stay. the location was perfect! so close to the museums and zoo located in forest park and still a short drive to downtown st. louis and many other hot spots of the city. though the hotel was undergoing renovations, staff were kind to put us into newly renovated rooms and away from the […] noise of current construction. from outside the hotel looks sketchy but once inside, everything was very nice. very good experience! Checked in and the hotel smelled of paint. The room although it was a non-smoking room smelled of smoke. The toilet didn't work so they moved me to another room and there was no hot water for a shower in the morning. I would not recommend this hotel until their renovations are complete. The hotel location and the cleanliness was fine and the hotel personnel at the front desk was friendly and informative. The only problem we had was when some man came up to our floor and started banging on the hotel room door next to ours accusing the occupants of spitting on them from the hotel balcony of their room. Whenever the man left the door […] and headed back down the hallway the occupants of the room would open the door and scream obscenities at him and he would return. They would shut the door before he got there and it started all over again. This started at 2:00am and did not stop until security came up. Once security was gone it started all over again. Finally everything stopped around 3:00am or so. Due to this I kept checking the security lock on the hotel room door making sure I had it on. Other then the disturbance the hotel was fine. I would consider staying again as long as this does not happen again. Devamı

What it lacks in glamour, the hotel makes up for in friendly staff. From the front desk staff who greet you when you arrive to the housekeeper to the bartender who brings you supper, everyone is very friendly. Unfortunately, the $15 I saved a night choosing this older rundown hotel could have been saved in free meals and extras at the nicer Drury Hotel […] across the street. The Holiday Inn's restaurant was way overpriced though the food was ok. The bed was comfortable and when I asked for a blanket b/c my husband kept the room at arctic temperatures, the staff brought me two warm ones. Very nice touch. Devamı

The bathroom had mold,the sliding glass door wouldn't lock,swimming pool was dirty,A/C was loud,elevators were the slowest i've ever seen

The hotel was very clean and the staff was very nice and helpful. I liked that the hotel room had a balcony and that the pool was clean. Even though the room was right on the highway, the traffic noise was very minimal.

We checked in at almost 5pm to a room that looked as though it were clean except for one missed item- the TOILET! Urine inside the toilet, on the seat, and on the back portion that connects to the tank. When I called the front desk, they did not even offer an apology. DISGUSTING! The halls smelled like old mildew. The highway was loud but the even louder […] fan in the room helps to drown it out. No fan in the bathroom and the ceiling nasty, it looked as though the ceiling might cave in at any minute, the paint had completely peeled off. NASTY. Mildew/Mold in the tub. I felt so gross in this room and would have moved if the other hotels were not also booked up, and we need something close for a wedding we were going to the same night. DO NOT STAY HERE! Devamı

The inside looks a lot better than the outside. Did see a mouse crawl under the door, which changed my changed perception of the hotel.
