Old hotel, small pool, hotel looked clean but did not feel clean

The room was fine but I believe we should have been informed of the dog show that was taking place. Was very disappointed when we got to the hotel and realized we were spending the weekend with 120 dogs. I am a dog owner and I love dogs but we should have been informed that a dog show was being held and that whenever we left or entered the hotel we […] would be encountering barking dogs, dog urine, etc. The entrance way we were directed to go in (the back) smelled strongly of dog. I've been staying at this hotel for annual trips to Williamsburg for almost 15 years and I have say I'm disappointed with the new ownership. As a Priority Club Member, I used to enjoy the complimentary breakfast, free room upgrades, etc. No more. Now you get a 10% discount off a very expensive breakfast. The continental breakfast is $7.45, but that […] does not include the 18% gratuity, $2.50 delivery fee if you order room service, plus tax. This brings the cost of breakfast to $12 per person for a small glass of juice, a biscuit, a bannana, and a cup of coffee. Save your money and drive down the street to Bypass Road and order a Sunrise Sampler from Cracker Barrel, you'll get better quality food, better quantity and portion. I agree with some of the other patrons who have submitted reviews. They need to do a better job of keeping the pool clean. Other than that, the remodelling has improved the hotel, the mattresses are better, the room was clean. The biggest issues with the room were the bathroom fan ran non-stop and there was no collateral in the room to talk about the hotel services and local offerings. Then again, with the cost of that breakfast, not sure anyone would want to utilize the hotel services. One final point of confusion. The lobby had a very large sign stating that tickets were available for Busch Gardens Christmas Town, but the desk clerk said they had none and did not know why the sign was put up because they were never given any tickets to sell or even vouchers to provide to their patrons. The best thing about the hotel is the location. Close to Captain Georges, outlets, colonial Williamsburg, Busch Gardens. Then again, there are alot of choices, including another Holiday Inn on Bypass Road and a Holiday Inn Express down the road. I'll be exploring both and others later this year on my next trip down. hotel okay, room small but clean, no extra pillows or blankets. My biggest problem with this hotel, is that their non smoking rooms are a joke,--the hall on the floor we were on reeked of old ciggarette smoke, and the non smoking rooms were interspersed withsmoking rooms both next door and across the hall. I booked this hotel because it was on Hotels.com's 48-hour sale and the rate was great! My husband and I arrived and were told we had booked a smoking room, which we did not. When I showed the woman at the desk my reservation confirmation specifically showing a non-smoking room she said that was only a preference and they could do nothing about it, […] but 'most people that book smoking room don't really smoke in them' Yeah right. So we went up to check the room out and could not believe we were at a Holiday Inn. The wallpaper was literally falling off the wall, the door would not lock properly unless my husband threw himself at it to get it to latch (no exaggeration) and there was a huge hole worn in the carpet right by the bathroom. Not to mention it reeked of cigarette smoke (obviously) and a musty, mildew smell. We left immediately and wouldnt stay there if they paid us! This place was horrible! Peeling wallpaper, broken furniture and lamps. I couldn't wait to leave.

Hotel is very poorly maintained. Our room had peeling wallpaper in both the room and bathroom. There is no ventilation or fan in the bathroom resulting in an extremely humid after-shower experience. IMy room was clean and acceptable. I had the opportunity to go to the gym, which had no towels or water for use during my workout. I walked up to the front desk, where I waited for the clerk to count change for more than 10 minutes. When he decided to come over and speak with me, he was very laid back and lacked any concern that I was standing there […] for a good period of time. The next morning I wanted to go swimming before heading out for a day of history and the pool door was locked. I again had the opportunity to talk with the same young man from the day before who insisted that the pool was open, which it wasn’t or it didn’t recognize my room key. He finally called someone and the pool door was open when I returned. The only other issue I had with the hotel was the back elevator, which most floor lights didn’t work, and the speed of the operation. Decent hotel. Needs serious mainenance and cosmetics. Our room was clean as long as you didn't look in corners or behind anything. Bath was adequate and towels clean. No breakfast or lobby coffee. The indoor pool was nasty. Flys, bugs and hair were floating on the surface. Also stuff was visible on the bottom surface. So nasty we did not swim. When we mentioned the lack of cleaning to the front desk clerk he said "the cleaning company must have not come yesterday". I noticed the skimming system was not running. However a breakfast buffet was advertised and when we went to eat there was no buffet and very poor service in the restaurant we left and went some place else to eat. Older hotel, still in good condition. Wished I had known Holiday Inn Express was just up the road. Room could use some updates/repairs, i.e., exhaust fan in the bathroom and shower head needed some work. Satisfied with the room, but needs a little work. Room was clean.

We rented 3 rooms for nights; the hotel was very accomadating in giving us ajoining rooms. The staff was pleasant, we would definitely stay there again.

The hotel is in a good location. It is close enough to walk to several restaurants and shops. However, it is not in very good condition. Our refrigerator stopped working and the room was somewhat shabby. The price is good, but for more than one night's stay it was too small for our family of four. Overall, the hotel was okay. No problems with check-in and they allow pets. The major drawback is that the hotel is a few miles from Colonial Williamsburg and Busch Gardens, so not quite convenient to go back and forth during the day. The room was technically clean, but we could tell the hotel had not been renovated in quite some time. The Holiday Inn Patriot is close to Historic center Williamsburg, thaugh not 1.6 miles as was said on the site. It isa 10 minuts driving, bubt still close enough.The room was clean,bathroom pretty new and clean too, It was just 1little bottle of shampoo and conditioner, but when we asked for more it was no problem. The one big problem we had is the Internet wasn't working in our room, even after we called 4 times and they tried to fix it. Altogether hotel wasn't bad, but usually Holiday Inns are better. Pool was nothing like the pictures, Jacuzzi was un bearably over chlorinated, elevator smelled, but rooms were fine and it was convenient and cheap.

The only area of the Hotel that was nice was the lobby. The pool area was dirty and the tile work around the hot tub was bad, the tiles were different sizes and they didn’t fit correctly. The dinning area where they served there breakfast was in need of updating and the service was as bad as the Hotel (one waitress for 15 tables). The floor that my […] family was on is where the cleaning personnel set up every morning to get ready for there day. The problem was they had all there carts in the hallway where all the rooms are, so all the noise they were making was heard throughout the hallway. To give an idea how bad it was, we had free vouchers to eat in there dining area and we chose to go anywhere but the hotel for breakfast. We also had a few maintenance issues in our room. I called the front desk and told them that our bathroom door didn’t shout and the knob on the heat lamp was missing. I had asked them to not send anyone until the morning, because it was late and my family was getting ready for bed. 5 minutes later the maintenance man came to the door to fix the door and the knob, I let him in even though I told them not to send anyone tonight. After he fixed the door he had to go and come back twice to get the tools and parts he needed to fix both issues. After he left he had left behind some items that he didn’t use. It was just one thing after another; I had never stayed in a Hotel that bad. (For a Holiday Inn that is bad business). I can go on and on. Devamı

while laying in bed, my husband found a bug.. not sure what kind, sort of a yellowish, 1/4 inch size... crawling on him. kind of shocking.

Checked in and was given the wrong room. Booked a King non-smoking and got a double. Asked the staff to give us another room and couldn't get one due to hotel being full. We booked our hotel over 2 weeks in advance. Was given a room with a king bed the 2nd night. Had to check out and then check back in. Me and my wife were not happy with having to put […] our bags back into our car and check back in at a later time. 2nd night fire alarm went off and had to stand outside for 30 minutes. I strongly recommend finding a different hotel, Holiday-Inn Patriot is NOT worth the cost. Here's a rundown of the problems we experienced. 1. There was no tub-stopper in the tub and I needed to give my toddler a bath. It took two and a half hours and three phone calls for some one to get one to us. 2. The noise from the hallway was RIDICULOUS and constant […] late into the night. After numerous calls to the front desk we asked to speak to a manager. The manager said there was nothing they could do. 3. The "heated" pool was a joke. The pictures make it look beautiful, but it is tiny and FREEZING. There is enough room in the pool area for one table with a few chairs, so if there is more than one family in the pool area there is no-where to put your things and there really isn't room for more than one or two families to swim at a time. The good things about this hotel is that is is about a mile from the Outlets (but about 15 from busch gardens). The beds were soft, but bring some blankets because they are very thin and not very warm. The pillows were awesome. It was nice having a fridge and microwave in the room, and it was also nice having free wireless internet. My favorite part of the hotel is that they had bath&body works signature collection shampoo and conditioner in the bathroom. The arcade room took me back, as I'm fairly certain they had an original early 80's pack man arcade game in there. All-in-all if you do not care about the indoor pool, if outside noise doesn't bother you, and you don't think you'll need maintenance to help you in any way, this might be a good option if you're planning on spending time at the outlets. That being said, this hotel was NOT worth the price. We picked it because the indoor "heated" pool looked beautiful in the pictures and our 3 year old was really looking forward to some swimming. This was absolutely the worst hotel stay I have yet experienced. I could not stay in this hotel for another night so I had to cut my vacation short. The staff, with the exception of the breakfast person, were rude. The facilities were nowhere near what you would expect for a hotel in the $100+/night range. It was more in line with a $40/night motel. With […] so many complaints, where do I begin. The room was clearly in need of some updates, the cable box was literally hanging off of the wall. Things were so bad that at in the middle of the night I wrote an email to the manager that has yet to be acknowledged or answered outlining my concerns. My wife called and then went down for linens. What she received were unfolded sheets that were "clean." When we opened them up to put them on the bed, there was a brown stain on them that looked like feces. When I complained about this, I was told that they were clean. Breakfast was passable, but nothing to write home about, boasting generic cereal brands and watered down orange juice. Don't pay for it... What made this stay so bad, beyond the impertinent staff and the dilapidated building? The bed. It had a ditch in the middle that was large enough to swallow a small buick! This was the most uncomfortable bed I have ever had the displeasure to lie in. I slept that night in fitfully short bursts. I could go on, but I will NEVER stay in this hotel again. If my pain can be a blessing to you... take my advice seek other accommodations. DO NOT STAY HERE! My car would have been far more comfortable. Devamı

Hotel is showing its age but for the money it was adequate for my family of 4. Extra cot was provided when requested even though it took two calls to the front desk and about an hour to get delivered.

The hotel room was dirty, the maids never put the ironing board away. Left a cup of coffee on top of the TV to see if the maid would throw it away, but she never touched it. The pool and hot tub were old and dirty. The breakfast was discusting. We were suppose to have free breakfast buffet included with our room, I had to go ask for the vouchers at […] the front desk because they never offered them to us. Got the breakfast buffet the first day, they kept running out of items, what was there was gross. Never returned for our free breakfast the rest of the trip. Much better than I expected for the money I was charged. Clean rooms. Near lots of food, entertainment and shopping. Would definitely stay there again.
