Hotel is fine and it's a couple of blocks from Yale. The choice is this or The Library, which I also hear good things about. But I've been going here for years, which suggests that it's at least satisfactory. Great breakfast on the 19th floor.

I stayed here while my son was attending Bulldog Days at Yale...very convenient for access to the Freshman area....but you have to pay for internet unless in the lobby. Also the toilets are very loud....I kept hearing my next door neighbor all night....Will stay there again due to convenience if my son chooses to attend Yale.

Conviniantely located. Nice area. Overall nice hotel. Had a very funky smell though.. other than that, very good.

There was a lot of noise on our floor due to partygoers getting out of hand. I was disappointed that the hotel did not control the situation better.

The hotel is conveniently located within walking distance to shops & restaurants but it's so old & badly needs an update. The bathroom door & its frame was cracking & needs to be replaced. The bathroom is small & I'd the fear of my things placed on the narrow bath counter would drop into the toilet. Overall, the condition of the bathroom killed it! […] I wouldn't stay again nor would I recommend it. Devamı

The hotel is very convenient to Yale. The buffet breakfast is outstanding, but a bit pricey. The room looked rather tired and old, and was a little small, but overall hotel experience was good.

The hotel was very clean, the rooms smelled nice. The gym in particular was very clean as well. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

My tub was peeling... The room had no heat, I turned my heat up to 80 and still got cold air. I turned it off and added another blanket and slept well. The service was great, the staff was friendly. I hope the AC works when I return in August.

I found the hotel lovely, safe and comfortable with all the posted amenities. I was disappointed, however, when I found that I had to pay extra if I wanted in-room internet, plus, I had to pay extra just to park my car in the hotel garage ($20/day + $3 tax). For the price of a room just to sleep there, it was steep enough.

We have stayed at this hotel previously with better results. However, this visit was sub-par on several fronts. The heat and hot water in our room were both broken the first night. We reported this at the front desk in the morning and were told it would be fixed. The hot water was fixed but the heat never got above 65 and there was cold air blowing […] on us all night. There is also quite a draft from the windows, so the heat is necessary to bring the room to a bearable temperature. When we stayed here previously, we found that the noise from the street kept us awake, so I requested a room on the other side of the hotel. Instead, we were given a corner room on Temple street. This was fine on Thanksgiving when all the bars were closed, but posed a problem on Friday night; I was awoken from a sound sleep at 1:30am by the hooting and hollering from the street below. Even though we were on the 18th floor and I had the (hotel provided) ear plugs in, the noise was enough to keep me awake for the next hour. I was also somewhat surprised that the hotel staff did not offer us any compensation for the two nights without heat and one night without hot water. They were very friendly and professional, but they did not even offer to comp us our sodas from the mini-bar. I like the hotel itself and the location is convenient to my family's home, but after this visit, I don't think I will be booking here again. Devamı

We stayed there for two nights when there was no power in our house due to a rare October snow storm. it was a convenient location for us as our house was only 6 miles from the hotel. The checkin was smooth. Valet service was also prompt. The room was clean with a view of the New haven Green. We had enjoyed our stay.

Great Hotel. Staff was very friendly, accept pets. Lots to do in the area. Rooms and common space very clean. Lots of restaurants and things to do in the area. Some street noise at night (trucks) - better to get higher floor. Corner rooms are extra special, slightly bigger.

the place was dirty, the room smelled like smoke , the ceiling was cracked , the rug was disgusting, the wallpaper was all bubbled and gross , the bartender at club 19 was extremely rude and unhelpful, could not get an elevator to come to the 6th floor and when they did they were full. ended up carrying luggage down six flights. I go to New Haven, CT a number of times each year. However, I had never stayed at the Omni (Yale). Let me just say the staff is excellent. The room was very good. Room Service is wonderful. I needed to get to several locations in New Haven, and being right downtown really served my purpose. I would definitely stay at Omni (Yale) again. The hotel is clean and convenient to Yale. We stayed for only a single night. My guess is that it caters to business and other professional travel, as everything comes with an additional price tag. And we're not talking nickels and dimes here... Parking? $20. Internet? $15. Business Center Computer? $7/15 minutes. Our friends stayed in a room adjacent […] to ours and had trouble sleeping due to a loud party in the neighboring (and apparently adjoining on lower floors) condo complex. Ordinarily, I would say this is a one time occurence and not comment on it in a review, but I see others have mentioned noise issues here too. The immediate area is nice, though I was surprised at how quickly the neighborhoods around Yale go down hill. Open drug use was observed on a morning walk through the neighboring green space. Not the fault of the hotel, but I'd stick to campus for the most part. Overall, I would still recommend this hotel to other travelers given the other options in the area, but it's disappointing that this is the best option. Devamı

The room is outdated. The wallpaper was worn and there was a huge spot on the floor in our room. Will stay somewhere else next time. The location is wonderful and enjoyed valet service although it was expensive.

Others remarked about "shadyness" of characters around the hotel and "the noise." I can't complain about either of those things. While next to restaurants/bars--it's town center--the room was calm and quiet. I felt VERY safe in the environs of the hotel and Yale's campus which intersects. There are many fabulous restaurants and other town charms. The […] hotel was not new but up to date in decor, comfort (the beds and sheets were fabulous--and I'm very particular about this), it was very clean in both the room and public spaces, the service was exquisite, better than most five star hotels that I've stayed in. Reallly caring and fun service, to the last detail...omni new haven is a hotel for people who love to be pampered..

After reading some previous reviews I was leery about staying, but soon discovered that the Omni isn't such a bad place after all. Sure I had asked for a room away from all noise and vending machines, and sure once we got off the elevator we found our room was right across from the ice machine, but once we closed the door we couldn't hear it at all. […] I thought I was being punked but the room was nice and quiet, which was funny because every time we opened the door the ice machine sounded like a DC-10 taking off, nice solid door to say the least. Looking outside to the surrounding area we could see the area directly below wasn't so hot but about two blocks down we could see the older section of the town and the town common which both looked very nice. The noise coming from below was very loud, we could hear what people were listening to on their car radios and we could hear people talking on the streets 12 floors below, but as the night grew late all that stopped. The only noise I heard late at night was what seemed like a motorcycle every ten seconds, zooming up and down the street. But the hotel had a fix for that earplugs are provided in the desk drawer, putting one in my non-sleep side ear took care of that and I was able to get a nice restful sleep. As for the room it was well laid out and had everything including robes to ensure a nice comfy stay. My wife mentioned that the mattress was right up there in quality of another hotel chain we stay at all the time. Plenty of extra pillows and enough extra sheets and blankets to make up a couple of rooms if we needed to. The toiletries in the room covered every need a visitor might need and then some. The only downside I could see was that the bathroom was kind of small, but since I don't know anyone who rents a room to sleep in the bathroom its really a non-issue. Probably the most helpfull employee was James who worked as a checkin clerk. I felt he went above and beyond the call of duty in getting info for me about where things were located and where to go to see different sights and activities of which on sunday was finding a flea market. When ever I returned he made me feel welcome with his smile and having […] something to say. Also if something was lacking ( coffee or tea) he made sure that it was delivered pronto. Devamı

Close to everything we needed to visit at Yale and New Haven. Don't even need a car. Room was comfortable and quiet although small.

The Omni is right in the heart of downtown New Haven. Service staff were polite, room was clean and quiet, but the room was much smaller than I expected for what's claimed as the best hotel in New Haven. There was no free breakfast or internet. However overall I was satisfied with my stay.

The Omni New Haven Hotel at Yale is not only within walking distance of the undergraduate and law and graduate school areas of the Yale campus, but also on the historic New Haven Green, with a great view from its John Davenport Restaurant on the nineteenth floor. The staff of the hotel is very helpful and friendly and the food and rooms excellent. In […] this stay I had some difficulties with self-parking, but of course the hotel also offers valet parking. Omni's staff was extremely courteous and helpful. Everyone on staff was quick to say "Hello" and smile on the elevator when you shared it with them. But... The elevators are painfully slow. And there's a bit of chipping paint in my room. Wallpaper was coming off a bit at the floor in the hallway on the 8th floor. Overall, I'd stay there again if I […] needed to be close to Yale. what was once probably the best hotel in town is now a bit shabby & desperately in need of a renovation. windows too thin to block out the downtown city noise, but the worst is the elevators making such noise that all rooms surrounding them are caught in their airlock and noise. tried 3 rooms before finding one remotely quiet, and while i was at the […] desk trying to change rooms other people were doing the same because of the elevator noise. bar/lounge upstairs is gloomy, so go next door to the barcelona wine bar/restaurant for your sustenance! When I arrive at the Omni New Haven it is usually late at night and I really appreciate the friendly and helpful staff. The Omni Select Guest loyalty program is well worth it, providing free wireless internet and morning coffee, juice and newspaper. Great location for Yale visitors and easy access to I-95 and 91.

Very noisy by the lift shaft - wouldn't go back.

Right next to Yale campus. Surprisingly there were not many inexpensive places to eat near by (or at least not that the front desk knew about). The mattress was extremely hard. I slept poorly because of it and had to take a pain pill for it when I woke up. Overpriced for a 3 star hotel.

My wife and I stayed here April 1-3. Our room was on the 5th floor near the back. My daughter and her family were there at the same time, they were on the 11th floor at the front. My daughter complained of a high level of street noise all night. Also, from 11:00 to midnight, she was entertained by the voice of a man in the next room loudly berating […] someone on the telephone. She said that the walls are so thin that she would actually hear the voice of the person he was taking to. In our case, we were in the back and were not bothered by street noise. However, we were kept awake for hours by a group of young people several rooms away. They were not doing anything unusual--just talking and laughing, but it sounded like it was in our room. Then, from 4:00 am to 5:00 am, two men stood in the elevator lobby and talked in normal voices, but you could hear every word in our room. This is a clean, well-managed hotel in excellent condition, but the building seems to have a complete lack of sound insulation of any kind. Devamı
