President Abraham Lincoln Hotel - Springfield

Overall, we liked this hotel- and will stay there again. That's what made this next part all the more disappointing; the public spaces were not very clean. When we arrived, Saturday noon, the front and side entrance doors were noticeably smudged with greasy hand prints. It had clearly been several days since anyone had taken some Windex to the glass! […] It was gross. Then, inside the elevators, the doors, mirrors and brass was smeared. The hotel does not need to keep the brass polished to a mirror finish, but the smears on the brass above the elevator doors was evidence of bad technique- and no supervisor checking work quality. The smudged mirrors and doors were evidence of lack of cleaning. How hard could it be to have the desk clerks walk around the lobby and into the elevators, cleaning up smears, two or three times a shift, as time permits? The elevators are even open and waiting in the lobby when not in use! Finally, our room showed evidence of the previous occupant. There was as empty plastic bag from a recent hotel conference or meeting left on the credenza by the TV, and the shampoo that had been used by the previous occupant was left in the shower. Once I found these things, I looked pretty carefully at everything else and it was all quite clean- someone had just failed to pick up these items during the cleaning, somehow. Hotel is well-located for a visit to the historic sites in the city.

This is a beautiful hotel in the heart of Springfield. Easy walking distance to most anything you would want to do and easy access to cheap overnight parking if you need it. The biggest problem we had was simply bad management. Uncooperative and seemingly uncaring staff made our stay miserable. Constant excuses were made to cover up for poor planning […] and lack of preparation. Even when brought to the attention of the staff there were zero apologies made. I was in Springfield on business for only one day and found the hotel's location to be perfect for my needs. Clean and well appointed. A couple of comments: 1) the front desk clerk who checked me in was cold and had a "you've interuppted what I'm doing" attitude. She was extremely efficient but not from a friendly customer service place, but a "let's […] get this done so I can get back to what I was doing" place. 2) The hotel does not offer guests complimentary parking in the public garage connected to the hotel. If you're looking for a hotel so different from ordinary chain hotels. This is it! The rooms and lobby are so tastefully decorated and the beds were very comfortable. We were expecting to eat dinner out but ended up ordering room service and the food was delicious. It is also so convenient to the Hilton conference center...in fact, directly across the […] street. Overnight was extremely reasonable and free internet in your room. I would highly recommend this hotel and plan to stay here again next year. It was such a pleasurable experience. Devamı

We were very happy with our stay. The staff were friendly and helpful to our family. When we asked about location attractions they were more than helpful. The services offered that the hotel for our family were more than we expected. Clean -clean -clean- was the hotel. Staff friendly- friendly-friendly. The price of staying priceless !

The service was great..comfortable beds and puffy towels. The hot tub was great but there were too many kids. Only downside was having to pay for parking in the garage next to the hotel also there is no free breakfast. Overall it was a great stay and right in the heart of Springfield.

Very close to the Lincoln museum. Staff friendly. Room was very nice and clean for a 3 star.

A group of my family stayed there and it was lovely. The elevators seem to need a style update, but everything else seemed updated and lovely. My sister and 5 month old nephew stayed in the room next to us and they enjoyed the rooms as well.

Friday stay. Hotel lightly occupied. Very clean room and common areas. Lobbies and rooms freshly decorated. Tasteful furnishings. Close to capitol. Highly recommended.

Nice Hotel. Needs some updated, but can't go wrong.

Room was very clean and staff very accomodating. Lobby was very nice as was entire hotel. Not really too close to a drug store or convenience store but other than that I enjoyed my stay there and will stay there again!!

The rooms were fine, cleaning left a lot to be desired!!! Convienent parking was not available. Breakfast was awful!!!! There is no reason they should not have a free breakfast bar. $11.00 for omelets and toast..... and the toast you have to get yourself. They need to get with program, Free breakfast!!!

This hotel was in a quaint area of the downtown area, within walking distance to several area restaurants, shopping and attractions. The room was exceptionally clean and well decorated. I will stay there again.

There were children running up and down the floors all nights. I placed several calls to the front desk and they did absolutely nothing. Complained upon check out and they didnt comp us for anything. We left the hotel after a very frustrating night.

The hotel room was very nice and looked as if had been recently updated. The check-in service was quick but the front desk person helping me must have been having a bad day.

We had a delightful stay. The staff were very helpful and friendly. We loved the location - close to everything we came to Springfield to see. And the hotel was clean, classy, and comfortable.

Beautiful hotel (under rennovations) walking distance to President Lincoln historical sites, museum, library, law offices, etc. Room was beautiful, clean and very comfortable. Staff was most helpful especially when checking in--entry to the parking garage was blocked temporarily by construction crew. One of the reception desk staff led me out to the […] area, pointed to the garage entrance and had the entrance cleared. The restaurant was lovely but we were only one of two tables seated at 8 pm. Staff became friendlier as the service progressed. Dinner was well served and delicious. We would definitely recommend this hotel to our friends and relatives. Devamı

The room was very clean and attractive. I loved it. Soft, fluffy, large bath towels. Great coffee pot and coffee. Room temperature very comfortable. Great room

nice staff, big, fluffy towels, quiet room with nice, new furnishings! no one to valet the car or help with bags, but everything else was perfect!

I've stayed at this hotel several times in the past. It has been updated nicely. The beds/furnishings in the rooms are modern and comfortable. The staff was very friendly. My only complaint is that the restaurant was seriously understaffed. Actually, it was closed and we had to eat in the bar. One bartender (also waiting tables) for 20+ customers.

Great stay although there was a coffee stain or something on the comforter :-( ... the sheets covered it up well.

Had a pretty decent time. The location is great for seeing all kinds of sites. The wife and I walked to everything except Oak Ridge Cemetery and New Salem. There is off street parking and hotel parking. Don't lose your parking ticket or you will have to pay 25 dollars instead of 8 or 13.

The hotel is very convenient to all the historical attractions and some excellent restaurants. The staff was friendly and our room was nice. We really enjoyed the king size bed and slept well. If you want to be close to where President Lincoln lived & work, then staying at a hotel named after him is the be.

If your visiting Springfield and want to park the car and walk everywhere, this is the place. The parking garage is safe and cheap and has easy access to the lobby. The rooms are very nice. A great place.

Great, historical hotel. Friendly service, awesome location, food was execellent, room and bed were great. Love the flat screen high-def TV. I even noticed the high quality sheet, pillow, pillow-cases and bath towels. I'm the executive director of the National Veterans Museum and I travel a lot. Lack of parking was an unpleasant surprise. Catch as catch can on the street or pay for public lot down the block. Elevators 100 feet from entrance. Room as expected for type of hotel. So-so view. Nice on-site restaurant, good food, reasonable pricing.

We had a very nice stay. The staff was friendly and helpful, the lobby was very nice and the rooms were clean. The location was perfect for the sights we went to see.

My partner and I had a great experience at this hotel. The desk staff let us change our room to one with a better view. The hotel was located downtown, walking distance from several wonderful restaurants, some cure shops, and Lincoln-related destinations. IT is convenient. But, in spite of the newly renovated decor,which gives the appearance of freshness and cleanliness, the AL falls short. I found a bug in my sheets and another guest found a cockroach on her pillow. NOT good. I had one of the renovated rooms and it was just beautiful. Very clean! Snow white sheets and comforter. Lots of restaurants or cafes within blocks. About a ten minute walk to the Capitol building.

This is a good place to stay for visiting the Lincoln sites and other places in downtown Springfield. The rooms are nice and there is a restaurant on site. Parking charges are very reasonable. I would stay here again.
