Hyatt Regency Waikiki Beach Resort & Spa - Honolulu

This hotel was a bit of a maze to navigate with a stroller and young kids but well worth it, especially if you reserve an ocean view. They had an early misstep when we had to go back to front desk after receiving our first room, to request a better ocean view (the first room was directly across from a parking garage with ocean when you craned your neck […] over the lanai and to the right). But I find this to often be the case, not sure why, but the first room rarely fulfills expectations. Most likely the hotel trying to pull a fast one and pawn off their duds, so stand up for yourself. Our second room was clean, spacious (very important with youngsters) and on a higher floor with views of waves and surfers right from the bed. Breakfast buffet was included so I can't comment on pricing but it was a wonderfully sized, diverse buffet. And the restaurant that hosts breakfast (Shor) is big and offers indoor and outdoor seating. Again it is a plus with young kids not to be in a quiet, intimate setting where people keep glancing at you in annoyance. People who commented on external noise are right with the street noise below, waves crashing and a Beatles cover band serenading us from pool side it was a cacophony. But the was kind of the point of getting somewhere right in the heart of the action. Besides closing the door to the lanai cut it to a very dull roar. We didn't have any problems getting our little ones to go down. Staff were competent. I don't actually go to hotels to make friends with staff so I'm always baffled when people are so put off by the valet or housekeeping. All I require is a knowledgable response, a smile, or an Aloha, and we got that here. Also wanted to mention that we stayed at 3 other hotels this stay in Oahu and Maui of a similar calibre (a Hilton, a Westin and Turtle Bay Resort) and overall the Hyatt had the best room and views. The hotel is old. The room needs an upgrade. The bathroom is old, the paint and walls are old, the carpet was old. The room was a large size. The bed sheet did not fit the king size bed. The TV was large but it was slow to change channels. The toilettries were few (shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, soap & toothpaste). The location is brilliant. The […] gym is large. The pool facilities are good. Breakfast was buffet and an ok selection, nothing special, not worth the price. The staff were very polite and helpful. We had to wait a while for the lifts on occasion. I booked this hotel and paid up front weeks in advance with a credit card. When i got to the resort after a HORRENDOUS shuttle ride -(they contract with Speedi Shuttle which is over-priced, unprofessional, and dangerous.) the woman at the front desk asked to hold $50 on my debit card for "incidental charges" that will be credited back. AFTER she ran […] my card, she informed me that there is a (significant) MANDATORY per DAY resort fee that will NOT be credited. The resort fee includes use of the internet, pool, and in room safe (which was not even in the room). This should be disclosed when the room is booked, or at the very least BEFORE they run your card. Overall quality was first class but expect that for the price. A bit disappointed that they added on a facilities charge of $18 per day that wasn't mentioned upfront.

Normally I don't write review but I'm willing to do that this time. Because I've chosen this hotel based on the reviews and they helped a lot for my first stay in Honolulu. You can enjoy Waikiki sunset from the balcony. I'd say the room's decor wasn't to my taste but the bed was very comfortable! I've read negative side of hotel rooms but I couldn't find it with my room at all. Lastly, I'd like to mention about very friendly staffs. I had a such a pleasant breakfast time every morning and still remember each of them!! And they serve marvellous breakfast as the others have already mentioned. Nice hotel. Great, friendly service. Room was really large and comfortable.

We stayed at the Hyatt Regency in Waikiki for 3 nights just after christmas, the service wasn't great unless you were Japanese. We had to line up at reception for over 20 minutes as they were under staffed and our room was not ready we were told to come back in 2 hours. Staff were not friendly at all. Did not give us a warm welcome. We were on the 21st […] floor the views were great but you would have to wait for the lifts for a couple of minutes and they were always over crowded. The room was run down and but the furniture was ok. The light switches were from the seventies and the bathroom was very old the wall paper was falling off the wall. The lamps were stained and looked dirty this hotel is very run down and is in need of renovations. You could hear neighboring guests having showers or walking above you, doors slamming definitely not a quiet peaceful hotel. We noticed that the Japanese received great friendly service from staff. I called ahead and I was able to check in early. The line to check in was so long and so slow. At one point there was one person working at the counter and about eight people in line. The person at the counter was really nice. My room was nice too until I got to the bathroom. There was hair everywhere, in the shower and on the floor. The floor was really […] dirty too. The bed was comfortable. The room was constantly too warm. I had the air conditioner on but that didn't seem enough. The food and drink service at the pool was very slow, both days I had to go to the bar to get a drink. Overall, the staff was friendly and the location is great. I spent a week in Kauai and then flew to Oahu for 3 days before flying home. I will not be returning. I booked the Hyatt thinking I could be assured a clean, comfortable hotel. The location is great if you want to be in the middle of all the activity, downfall, you get all the noise with it. The outside of the hotel and surrounding area makes you believe […] the hotel is amazing. Very first class. You can tell they put all their money on the outside looks of it. Our room had a spectacular view of Waikiki Beach but that is definately where the rave reviews end. We had two Ocean view suites and other than the great view, the rooms were very poorly maintained. The bathrooms are very outdated and small and could use a better cleaning. The worst part of it, the people we went with next door actually had small bugs in their room. Very small ones everywhere. For those looking for peace and tranquility, go somewhere else. This hotel felt like a crowded mall with long waits for the elevators and long lines at breakfast. Let me start off by saying that the hotel itself is pretty nice. Rooms are of good size and the Lobby area is nice. There are two hotel towers and we actually switched our first room which was in the Ewa tower to one in the Diamond Head tower because we found the bed in the first room was dirty. I can not abide by a dirty bed regardless of how the […] hotel looks like. IMHO, the Ewa tower seemed to look nicer than the Diamond Head tower though the room was roughly about the same. But this is nitpicking and other than the first dirty bed has little impact on my review since the bed in the second room was clean. They have 3 forms of Oceanview rooms which basically amounted to a room with either 33% view of the ocean, 66% view of the ocean or full on 100% view of the ocean. Wish they were more clear about this from the start but I don't necessarily blame their marketing for these rooms. The breakfast buffet at the SHOR restaurant was actually quite nice. It was much better than we expected for our breakfast package that was included in our stay which came as a delight to us. The SHOR itself is quite nice with a outdoor seating area. Pleasant to sit at in the morning for breakfast if you get an outdoor seating area. The swimming pool is quite small so if you're thinking of swimming in the pool, you may want to reconsider going to this hotel. Having said that, there is a beach right across the street so if you don't mind swimming in salt water that is a much better alternative than swimming at the pool in the Hyatt. The Hyatt pool area is a better place to lounge around and just get some sun without having to step on sand. We came at a bad time because the workers at the Hyatt decided to go on strike during our vacation. Thankfully, they only started going on strike during the last three days of our stay. Unfortunately, the strikers decided to post themselves downstairs of our room. I suppose there's nothing like waking up at 6:20 am to the sound of "Who's got the power Devamı

Nice hotel. Good location in waikiki. Our room had a beautiful ocean view looking at Diamond Head and the beautiful ocean.

We stayed at the Hyatt Regency Waikiki as a family of 4 and appreciated having ajoining rooms. We had requested Ocean Views and would recommend doing that. The views are awesome. The hotel offered fantastic breakfasts in a dining area overlooking the beach and the staff were very friendly and helpful. We found the rooms to be spacious and very comfortable. […] We really liked the decor. The location was ideal, just across the road from the beach and towels and beach chairs were provided. The hotel has two buildings and perhaps we were put in the older one.. but our room was not comfortable at all. They are cleaned (no dirt no dust) but you don't feel that they are clean (you see stains in the sink and bathtub etc). The shower tab was broken, screws were loose... Once we step out of our room, other areas of the hotel are nice. But we […] usually like to take short breaks in the room during the day, so the quality of the room is more important to us. There is a $33 dollar per night parking fee that is not included in the price. Although every hotel charges there customer a fee to park it would have been nice to know about the fee prior to arrival.

I was at the Waikiki property recently for a business trip. overall, the facility is beautiful. I was very disappointed to find that the pool and surrounding area was closed for construction. I would have chosen a different property if this information had been disclosed. In addition, there was obviously a piece of furniture missing from the room. This hotel just can't be beat for the money in Waikiki. You can walk right across the street to the beach... no other hotels, etc are blocking your view or your path. The staff was incredibly friendly and there are tons of shops and restaurants in the hotel building itself. Easy walk to Duke's or Tiki's for sundown drinks, etc.

Hyatt Regency Waikiki - perfect location - close to markets, restuarants, public transport. Great buffet breakfast - service fantastic. Staff always willing to help. Would definitely stay at this hotel again.

This motel was beautiful and I loved the shops. The breakfast was really good with a large selection of food choices. The ocean view was breathtaking. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay.

Last time I was here I had a great time - great staff, great location. I was looking foward to coming back. This time the shine had been taken off. The hour long wait for the breakfast, the renovations to the swimming pool, the lack of free Internet and the expensive business centre all chipped away at the experience. It remains in a great location […] and if you want a comfortable hotel with great views but realising the holiday experience is not at Hyatt but in Waikiki then the Hyatt is still on the list of places to stay. I'm hoping that the meal arrangements will be smoother (?seating times) and the renovations when completeed will be worth the wait. My daughter and I stayed at this hotel in August 2011 and the service was excellent. Upon arrival we were upgraded to a large room overlooking the ocean with balcony without even asking. the front desk person was extremely helpful with all requests. I would most definetly stay here again and highly recommend it.

This hotel is in a premium location and has everything you would need to have a great time in Waikiki. There was construction going on which is why I was porbably able to get such a good rate but I normally stay accross the street from here and was never as happy with that hotel as I was with this one. Great Gym, things today, good resturants, confortable […] rooms you name it. Yes, not having a pool (the construction I was talking about) was not the most convenient but the ocean was right across the street. The construction noise did not get out of hand most of the time. I travel to Honolulu at least once a year. I booked through hotels.com. The price was great and my package included free buffet breakfast each day. They were updating the 3rd floor area so the pool was closed. Not a big deal to me-the beach is right across the street (100 yards). My room was clean and comfortable-the only minor complaint was that the […] elevators were close by and their was a rumbling noise from time to time. This hotel is in the perfect location near beaches, shopping and restaurants. if you haven't been to Waikiki area, I highly recommend this hotel...The valet parking is pricey at $35 per day but I think that is in line with other Waikiki area hotels. Hotel was fine. A little outdated, but one Restaurant and the Pool area were both being renovated while we were there. A little inconvenient for us, but will be good once done in October 2011. Good location, close to beach, markets and restaurants.

Once the booking in was sorted out, with room upgrade and free breakfast, our stay could only be described as exceptional. Room large with excellent views of Diamond Head, spotlessly clean and serviced beautifully. Staff both friendly and courteous at all times. Expectation was high, because it is Hyatt. Turned out it was at most a below average hotel with the big name. The view from the room was very nice. But the niceness stopped there. The room was not very clean. Linens were very old. Bed was hard and not comfortable. Escalators were not functional half the time. Bath tub was very slippery and water pressure […] was low. They were supposed to call us when the room was ready, but they forgot and no apology Overall, unless, I crave for the view from the same room, I would not go there again or recommend the hotel to anyone. I got 3 rooms for my famiy vacation at this hotel. Loved this hotel as the staff was friendly and the rooms offered spectacular views of the beach and ocean. It was located near nice shops that were open to 11 pm! The restaurants in the hotel had nice staff and great food for breakfast. I would definitely return to this nice hotel !

Nothing bad to say about this hotel, but nothing that jumps out and says I have to be here next time

what more can I say???? I HIGHLY recommend this hotel. I've stayed in Honolulu twice before and would certainly return to the Hyatt the next time I come. Can't say enough about the view, the breakfast and the service. Top notch!!

Great location, beautiful staff, can be a bit noisy but if you shut the door with air con on it is fantastic

Excellent and very friendly service. View was fabulous. Breakfast buffet included with our room and was well worth the extra dollars. Everything close by. They are doing a renovation in one of the towers and the pool and gym were unavailable. Also, the smell of tar from work on the pool deck was noticeable on that side. Staff were mostly helpful but I didn't appreciate being told Diamond Head was walking distance ... it isn't and after walking 30 mins we had to turn around because we were pressed for time. Pool and gym were closed due to renovation. Of course noone told us when it was booked.

The Hyatt was an AMAZING hotel! The staff were great - the room and view was out of this world and bed was so comfortable! Breakfast buffet was also great. I would come back to this hotel and refer to others!

Bell service and greeting immediately on arrival. Enthusiastic, helpful and well informed bellman delivered our luggage. Spacious oceanfront room with noise controlled with sliding door closed. Beautiful spa with excellent engaging staff. Construction/ elevator directions somewhat confusing and staff not aware of directions for guests. It should have said somewhere on hotels.com that the pool was closed for reconstruction and so was the gym. There was also construction noise. Lastly, it says it is right on the beach and it isn't-it is across the street and the street is a very busy one with lots of traffic noise while you are on the beach.

Hotel is in a fabulous location & all staff were exceptionally helpful. The decor in the room was a bit dated but it was very comfortable & clean & big. Breakfast can get a bit busy, i'd recommend going after 10am, but the quality was good. I'd definitely stay here again.

The hotel was nice, but there are some improvements that could stand to be made. The hotel was extremely crowded and you often had to wait awhile for an elevator. The rooms are nice but the beds are very uncomfortable and hard. they need to replace the mattresses. it's in a fantastic location, it just would of been nice if they had direct beach access. […] you have to use the public beach across the street. The only other complaint that I have is that they are renovating and the pool was not open. Nowhere on hotels.com or anywhere else was that identified. Pricing for room was good, but i do nog understand why hotels feel the need to overcharge for their food and room service. Why do they need to add 18% service fees and charge $18 for a hamburger? just cause everyone else does? they'd sell a whole lot more food and drink if they were just reasonable about it! Devamı

Since it was a four star hotel I expected things tone the way it should be. However the condition of the hotel was pretty bad. They didn't tell us pool was under construction when I reserved the hotel. If I had known it ahead I wouldn't have stayed there. My experience there was not pleasant.

I travel to Honolulu 5x per year on business. This hotel, could not provide decent AC while I was there. I had to call the front desk 2x and it still never really worked. Also the bell desk was worthless. I asked for a large box and they acted like it was a huge deal to bring an empty large box up. not again

We stayed in the Hyatt for the 1st time and thoroughly enjoyed it and would recommend it to all who will listen. Unfortunately the pool & surrounding area was under renovation but with the beach 1 minute across the street it did not matter at all. Check- in was professionally executed and all hotel staff were attentive and genuinely happy to please […] unlike some US hospitality workers who expect a gratuity even when the service is less than acceptable.
