Sheraton National Hotel - Arlington

I enjoyed everything.

Hotel needs s hot tub and better pool hours. Front desk needs to be more familiar with the Washington tourist locations. Otherwise everything was fine.

Hotel was comfortable and access to the subway by shuttle was super. Except for the fire-drill forced on us at 6 AM in the morning by the local Fire Dept.

While the employees were great (helpful, kind, etc.) and the lobby and meetings rooms were nice, I was disappointed in the condition of my room and the hotel in general. My room was on the very bottom floor (basement) and my view was of rocks and the bottom of a tree. My room was always cold too; I had to put the heat on when it was 70 degrees outside. […] My boss stayed on the same floor but he said that his room was really hot. The room was dark and the whole bathroom set-up was very small. The gym was also small and seemed old. The hotel is in a residential neighborhood and the closest shops and restaurants are about .75 miles away. The hotel does offer a free shuttle though which is very dependable. Overall, the hotel just didn't measure up to other Sheraton's (or other Starwood hotels) that I've stayed at before. I would only stay here again if I requested not to be in the basement and if it was an incredibly good rate. Devamı

I did not love this hotel - they appear to host school students often. It was loud every night until very late. The rooms are spacious and the shuttle to Pentagon City was great but the actual location is not fantastic.

We got a great deal and the hotel is well maintained and the staff friendly and well meaning but ineffectual - the management needs a kick in the pants.Housekeeping seemed incapable of keeping track of which rooms needed cleaning - they would come by at 9 when we were using the room and then forget to come by later in the day until we call the front […] desk and request our room be cleaned; the restaurant staff well meaning but but kept you waiting while they were friendly to other guests ; the swimming pool had limited hours because they provided a lifeguard but then the lifeguard was too junior to be comfortable; telling teenagers to behave and the rules require a parent to be present when children under 16 are in the pool (why have a lifeguard); the shuttle driver could not cope with 30 people wanting a ride from the metro when his bus held 15 (he called another bus but then did not have the confidence to tell people to get off). My stay was for business and I did book late. The room assigned was in their old section of their hotel and I had a view of a noisy street. The room was clean and food was good. In the morning I had a couple of roaches and a spir in my bathroom to keep me company. I did tell the front desk and they were nice enough to knock off the 11.00 Internet charge. […] Hotel will do in a pinch but bring earplugs and maybe some bug spray! Devamı

We stayed here after staying at the Hyatt Arlington after attending an event. We got in-party rates for the Hyatt but, after the event, the rates went up quite a bit, so we found another, less expensive hotel. Even though the Sheraton isn't quite as fancy as the Hyatt, it was nice and the room was actually larger. The staff at the Sheraton were much […] better, too. Very accommodating, polite and on top of things. I noticed a wet spot in the closet on the other side of the bath tub and called maintenance because the spot was getting bigger. Turns out it was a leak. Their maintenance staff dealt with it right away and management gave us the option for a new room. We said a couple visits by maintenance didn't bother us and stayed in our room. They paid for our lunch the next day in the hotel and breakfast the morning after that. I didn't even ask. I ordered room service one evening and received a call from the in-room dining manager asking if the quality of the food is okay and is everything else okay. They have a shuttle every half hour on the half hour that goes to either the Pentagon City Metro Station or to the Reagan Airport. Within easy walking distance is a little bit of shopping, pharmacy, restaurants, gas, etc. Our room was very clean and so was the hotel. The gym is decently equipped for a hotel. It has several cardio machines, a total gym, free weights, benches and a couple pieces of nautilus equipment. Devamı

Hotel was very nice. Rooms very clean. Breakfast buffet was outstanding in the morning, servers were wonderful! Wish I would have known that the pool was only open from 5-9pm...kids were a little disappointed. Had a marching band on our floor...lots of doors slamming and loud talking in the hallways (but this can't be helped). According to hotel staff, the main hotel was fully booked, and so I received a room on the basement level of a separate building. All of the dining and spa/fitness facilities are located in the main hotel building. The room heater made a loud humming noise every time it activated. The blankets were unfortunately not warm enough for me to sleep comfortably […] during the very early morning hours in early April. I had no choice but to sleep with the heater on automatic operation. Every time the heater activated -- about every 20-30 minutes -- a loud humming noise emanating from the heater woke me up. I did not sleep soundly and woke up very tired the next morning. The bathroom door was abnormally large and bulky. The door opened outward. When open, the bathroom door completely blocked entry to the closet which was essentially half a closet. In addition, there was a small amount of what appeared to be green mold or mildew on the toilet bowl rim. I carefully cleaned this off.The location of the hotel is not convenient for attending conferences in DC. The hotel provides a complimentary shuttle van service. The van travels to and from the Pentagon City Metro. From Pentagon City, you then have to take a subway to DC. There is a modest savings in room rates, but DC hotels typically lower their conference rates as the stay dates approach. So the rate difference is minimal. Devamı

Great value thru hotels.com, not so much if you book directly. This hotel runs shuttles to airport and to the Metro line at Pentagon City at regular intervals. VERY convenient. The hotel is not really walking distance to anything, but the shuttle service completely closes that loop. There's a big mall at Pentagon City with a big food court. Recommend […] planning your meals around the mall if possible. Eating at the hotel is pricey and food quality is not great. Plan to take advantage of the shuttle service, it's wonderful. -Pool was only open from 5-9pm. Wish that would have been listed. -Had a problem with the electric plug in the bathroom, they were up in the room within 5 minutes replacing it. -One negative...had a marching band with high school kids on the floor...lots of doors slamming and people very loud in the hall. Room 1527 is directly below a fitness center. After an exhausted day in DC, I just wanted to return to the hotel and rest peacefully. Instead, I could hear Simeon in the fitness center on the treadmill and dropping weights during their workout. I thought after the first night, I wouldn't have the same issue. I save five-star ratings for true five-star hotels. I've stayed several times and don't have any substantive complaints. I value cleanliness. This place has always been very clean. The staff is extra friendly. The rooms are big enough and modern, i.e., they've almost certainly been rennovated recently. The hotel isn't in the best location. You're not […] going to walk to many destinations, but that's really the only "negative" in my experience. Sure, the room service isn't fine dining, but it's always fresh, very quick, and they've yet to mess up an order. Plus, the menu offers plenty of choices, including a variety of children's meals. The hours are good as well. One big plus, the gift shop -- which is very well-stocked -- is open until 11:00 p.m. ... and doesn't close early. While rates may be a bit on the high side at regular price, I've been able to get reduced rates on mutiple occasions through hotels.com. Overall, this is a good clean hotel for business travelers ... but it's suitable for families too. No complaints. Devamı

Although this Hotel is only rated 3.5 it really deserves a 4.5 rating. I travel across the U.S. for the last 7 years, and by far this was the nicest Hotel I have ever stayed at including some of the nicest Hotels in Chicago. We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights during Easter Weekend. The room we were given was located in the smaller of 2 buildings and we were given a room under sidewalk level. When we looked out the window we had a view of people's feet walking by. The beds, floor, bathroom were clean. There was no clock or alarm clock. The walls were paper thin and my […] daughter could not sleep b/c she could hear our neighbor's conversation at all times of night. I heard one of them clear their throats for an hour one morning. The "free coffee pot" was dirty and had one earl gray tea bag with it. They did not have one additional roll of toilet paper and we had to ration towards the end of our stay. They did not provide shampoo and conditioner-but did have 2 bars of soap.There was a smear of peanut butter (we hope) down the glass staircase. The elevator did not stop at the door, it stopped a floor above or below. Making my hubby have to carry the luggage 2 flights.The staff was not pleasant or happy. Most seemed annoyed. Parking was $20 a day and we had to park quite a distance away from our room. The restaurant was just as annoying. The waiter kept pushing the breakfast buffet and if we all did it, my daughter got hers half priced. We did not get it and and the waiter was angry when we didn't get it and told me my daughter would be charged full price. The came back and asked me her age and told me as a favor he would give it to her half prce. I knew it was her age and not a favor. Then gave us orange juice we didn't ask for and charged us for it and never gave me the tea I asked. Extremly rude. The shuttle was easy to use going but made people wait long times at the metro station. It was a very disappointing stay, will not be back! Devamı

We actually switched from one hotel to this one because our "4 star" was so small inside my family was tripping over each other. We loved this hotel, rooms were much more spacious, and there was an indoor pool. They shuttle to the metro, and it happened to be at the metro stop where the mall was located, so it was great because we did not have to […] be out metro fare to get to the mall. Only thing remotely negative is that I wish the hotel would have offered complementary coffee and/or breakfast in the lobby in the morning. And their hotel shuttle to the airport doesn't run before 5am which is not helpful if you have a 6am flight. Devamı

Nice amenities (clean fitness center, pool, bar, restaurants)... helpful staff. They have a shuttle to the nearest metro station and airport every 30 minutes pickup and drop-off. Fantastic Breakfast buffet.

The floor I was on was very noisy. The doors were slammed a lot. Other then that, my stay was fine.

excellent location and I absolutely loved the view from my hotel room window. Well definitely stay there next visit to Washington. The only thing the bad was that you had to pay for the internet. The lobby was free though.

The three downsides to the room was no frig, expensive room service (room service fee, plus food tax plus a gratuity were automatically added $10.95 meal could easily be over $20 bucks) and lastly the internet wasn't free $13 a day.

Great hotel, close to DC and in the heart of Arlington!

The hotel was really nice, room was very comfortable. However having to pay each night for parking, each night for a fridge, no breakfast unless you pay per person, and a deposit that I wasnt told about until I called to question why my account was charged, is not what I had thought would happen when I booked the room. Great stay overall. Hotel was in great shape and very clean. I was a bit disappointed when the hotel denied a package that I needed for a conference I was in town for even after repeated calls that I would be expecting a package. I followed their instructions they gave me and the package was still denied. Beyond that, I had an overall good stay.

I had a basement room, with a view of the retaining wall smack next to my window. The room felt like a dungeon. But I did get a pretty good rate for that area.

the hotel was very nice as was my room. however, the bathroom sink was not cleaned and I found a dirty washclothe in the shower.I had to call twicw to have it cleaned. Once it was done everything else was fine.

- Rooms that were confirmed with 2 dbl beds, were not available once I got there. 2 adults & a big kid Had to squeeze into one king bed. - Free internet as advertised on hotel.com, were not honored until I complained. - Free parking ticket also did not work, had to complain each time i exited the lot. I asked twice to have it looked at and cared for and both times I went to use it ..........it was not taken care of as it needed paper products and one stool was not working............

The Hotel is maintained well and has great ambiance but the service of the people is real poor. We booked 2 rooms for 2 nights and while booking they had an option to have a free extra bed and while check-in, the guy at the front desk informs like his fire marshals do not agree for the extra bed. In this case, they should have mentioned while booking. […] The front desk guy irritated us to the core. he booked the wrong type of room which we did not select. And when we informed about it, the floor in charge response was real rude. since it was bit late in the night we did not move out else we would have immediately cancelled and moved to another hotel. It does not matter how well you maintain your hotel. at the end the people should have proper training in dealing with the guests. we would have taken it easy if only one guy responds rudely. but almost 3-4 guys with whom we interfaced, they were rude. one more thing, i wanted to bring is the bathrooms are real real cramped. i stayed at many hotels but i have never seen so small bathrooms. We requested a handicap-access room and were given a very nice room with an awesome view. Other places we have stayed have handicap rooms but not with such great views. The room could use additional grab bars as my husband fell in the night on the way to the bathroom. Overall, a pleasant experience.

Not a great visit. I had to speak to two people to order room service. Neither of them spoke English well, and the order was delivered wrong. The front desk did not know how to handle room charges that I paid to hotels.com and wanted me to pay again, directly to the hotel. After speaking to two people at the front desk (and one of them screaming at […] me in frustration), I urged them to call hotels.com. After a few phone calls to different departments within hotels.com, it was resolved. It was surprising that they didn’t know how to handle this type of reservation because many people use hotels.com or similar service to make hotel reservations. Devamı
