It's a lovely hotel in a lovely city. I had stayed at the hotel in 1951 as a young child and remembered it as very lovely. It still is - like a grand old dame. It is beautifully maintained and everything is impeccable.

I have stayed at the metropole on many occasions. The quality of the hotel decor, staff and food is always first class. Add this to a 5 minute walk to the Grand Place and a metro station next door, makes the Metropole theperfect Brussels hotel.

Elegant hotel was a perfect place to stay in one of the grand cities of Europe. Close to major sites and easy bus transportation to major museums.

Stunning old hotel with great service and facilities. Close to all main attractions and easy access to transport system. Lovely staff who are happy to provide anything you need (at a price). The restaurant is fantastic and the bar is well stocked and a lovely place to relax. Our only issue was the lack of tea making facilities in the room but good tea […] and coffee were available within ten minutes from their efficient room service. Devamı

We went for the weekend and had a lovely stay at the Metropole. The hotel has fantastic rooms and amazing architecture. We ordered room service on the first night as we arrived late and the buffet style breakfast is fantastic.

Service is cold. No pillow for bed. They use cushion, a mall square cushion, can you believe. The show facility is not good at all. The switch is very hard to use, it took me to 10 minutes to turn off the water, which make me feel guilty as I wasted so much water. The shower head tube is leaking.

Great location and splendid lobby and dining room spoilt by shabby rooms which badly need renovation. Outside parking and dropoff chaotic.

Recently stayed at this hotel for a 2 night stay in Brussels. The hotel is great. Unassuming from the outside however the entrance is very grand and full of old style character. It still has the original lift and although other reviews have mentioned issues with the lift we didn't experience any and as it is open on 2 sides would not feel claustrophobic […] if it was delayed for a short time. Front desk/Concierge staff were helpful in recommending places to eat. Hotel is clean and room was well stocked with toiletries/drinks etc. Breakfast staff were a little slow with drinks that is my only complaint. Devamı

Excellent central hotel just outside the tube station. Rooms and service also excellent. Bar/coffee area not expensive compared to around Brussels.Would definately return to this hotel.

the room we got was much smaller than the promised 30+ m2, but much worse, the bathroom heat didn't work and two trips by a maintenance man didn;t fix it--he provided us with an inadequate electric heater and since the room heat too was inadequate we were less than happy. We had 2 nights in Bruge and 1 night in Brussels for a post new year break before going back to work. Stayed in the Royal Casselburgh in Bruge for 1st 2 night, 4* and felt better. When we arrived at the 5* Metropole we were put in rooms which were in the unrefurbished part of the hotel, absolutely awful! smelly old bathroom, no air con or ventilation, […] dank and dirty looking carpets, very depressing. After complaining we were moved to refurbished rooms, beautiful! but why give us awful room to start with. Staff were great and bar area is fantastic, even had its own mouse! really enjoyed the hotel and it was perfectly situated for seeing what Brussels has to offer for sightseers, but feel they shouldn't let out those awful rooms at 5* rates. The gorgeous lobby and good location does not make up for the lack in hotel quality and service. Our main problems were with the elevator and balcony door in our bedroom. Elevator - The extremely old, small, and non-automatic doors made it very difficult for us to bring our 3 suitcases up to our bedroom. I cannot believe a 5-star hotel would have such […] an inconvenient elevator system for its guests. While a member of the staff saw us struggling for a while, nobody offered to help us carry our luggage to our room. Balcony door - While the French doors looked nice, they blew open several times in the middle of the night even after we tried locking it. This made our room freezing (the heater barely seemed to work in the first place) and we had a lot of trouble sleeping. I mentioned this to the staff during check-out and all I received back was "oh, we'll check on that - which room?". Very disappointing service again from a highly rated hotel. Yes, the price is cheap for a 5-star hotel and the location is quite good. I also hear the hotel restaurants are pretty tasty as well. However, I would not recommend this hotel because of the issues we had mentioned above. Devamı

Look like a great place to stay, sure its ornate, its very big and the foyer is impressive. We check in, no problems...it was like wait until they are in their room and then just forget about providing a service. I asked one of the room service people why I had been charged for an extra breakfast and he almost cried through the bill through the door […] and said something I couldn't understand but I got the idea. That was fine but the next morning we walked around the corner of the hotel past all the bright lights and glitz to be confronted by a gang fight....a bit alarming. You can find better.... Devamı

Unsatisfactory room internet service; did not work, and if it had, too slow. Business office unsatisfactory alternative -- non-QARTY keyboard unusable . Requested hotel cab service to airport; told fare would be 45 euro; cabbie charged 55 euro.

The service was very good and the staff very friendly, also we got our car valet parked but we didn't get charged for it since the car stayed upfront. The location is great, right close to the main shopping street, across the street from the movie theater and just a five-minute walk to all the attractions like Grand-Place.

While the hotel lobby and entrance lives up to the pictures online the rooms are extremely outdated and down right creepy. We checked in at 6pm, I immediately called Hotels.com to inquire about a full refund and moving to a new hotel. While they were able to refund the remaining days I still had to pay for the first night. The hotel was so unsettling […] that we ate the one night charge and moved to another hotel. I was fully checked out by 7pm that same night. Overall look and feel reminded me of Cabin in the Woods and The Shining. No thank you! Devamı

Poor reception service: after arriving later than planned after a Eurostar delay we were checked into the wrong room (when we got in there we found it had a bottle of wine and conference papers for a former President of Nigeria who was due to stay that weekend!) : when I returned to reception to help them in this potentially highly embarrassing situation […] I was given a replacement room of a lower class than we paid as there were apparently no other rooms (we were too tired to suggest the President could just find himself a new room instead!). The next day, after an annoying wait in the hotel at midday, we were moved to a better room but without feeling much joy about it: pretty ordinary for a grand old hotel. The breakfast is also very pricey: 22 euros for pretty poor standard buffet fare: nothing was offered to be cooked to order, just kept warm in pans, Unless you get it free (which we were given as a poor apology for the room fiasco), best to eat at one of the plentiful near-by cafes. There is a great sense of style over substance about the hotel: very much "old world" without blending that charm with modern service and standards. The lift was out of order on several occasions over the weekend and the slow approach to fixing it seemed to reflect the way they had dealt with their mistakes over our room booking. For a grand hotel, this was a big disappointment. With so much choice in Brussels, it's a shame that the hotel doesn't work harder to retain repeat business. Devamı

I was very pleased with all aspects of the Metropole. I had read some reviews that warned of outdated rooms, rude staff and faulty elevator that frankly had me a little concerned. I saw none of that at the Metropole. It was my first time to Brussels and the staff helped me out with the many questions I had, were attentive and very fast with service […] requests. Room was very nice and well attended to. The location was also fantastic, very close to the underground and shopping/restaurant district. Wonderful hotel, great location. Room had a lovely view out unto a street. Only criticism was the shaky chandiler, the result of people just walking around upstairs. And the creaky floorboards. Other than that, most agreeable.

Beautiful hotel, the oldest in Brussels, great location, the room was enormous and had all creature comforts. Hotel staff very helpful. Loved the doorman in his uniform.

This hotel is the grandest in Brussels, the interiors are wonderfully classic and sumptuous. Judging by the 'hall of fame' of famous names and minor royalty that have stayed there, it must be seen as 'the' place to stay in the city.

The hotel is very old and has maintained it's glory. The room was quite nice and clean. The hotel staff was very polite and helpful. Our only complaint was the non price listing of the breakfast buffet. We looked everywhere for it but decided to eat there nonetheless because of our wanting to have enough time to eat and get to the train station. The Hotel Metropole was truly a wonderful experience. It is certainly high quality accommodation and the bathroom was a delight in itself. As a heritage listed building from the 1890's everything about the hotel was fantastic and could not be faulted. The lobby is gorgeous. The rest of the enterprise has not yet got it all together. Our rooms were hot (in October) and the staff admitted the air-conditioning was not working properly. Open windows meant street noise. The staff was friendly, helpful on occasion. But the building needs work and even a good staff can't help that. The Building is tired looking on the inside. Such a shame as it could be so much nicer. The staff were polite but just not interested. The room had a connecting door to the next bedroom which hadn't been locked. I could hear everythig from my bedroom. I would not go back and stay there unless I absolutely had to. Metropole is very nice with a friendly staff. Bedding and bathroom amenities are great. New carpets would be nice. The free water and beer in fridge is a nice touch.

I stayed in Brussels about 20 years ago and wanted to go back there to see the square and the sights again. The city has changed greatly and although the old lavish buildings still exist, they are surrounded in rubbish, beggers, and basically every form of kebab and chip shop you can get. Based on the great Expedia rate we received at this hotel, we thought we might get a closet. We actually received beautiful, spacious rooms. As in the other reviews, the elevator broke down and we had to be rescued, but it wasn't a real issue since we were "rescued" in a short amount of time. Our two rooms were spotless and comfortable. Unfortunately, […] one of our rooms smelled like something died in it. The hotel couldn't resolve the issue, so we shut off the air and opened the window. Enjoyed it much. The room was rather poky, especially considering the price, and the "view" of a roof and a wall was horrible. But the internet worked fine, the desk people and concierges were very helpful and kind. They suggested we email our boarding pass to them, and they printed it out and delivered it to us. While booking a trip to a weekend meeting in Brussels, I discovered what an excellent deal the Metropole is after the eurocrats go home. As an astrophysicist, I immediately leapt at the chance to stay at this historical hotel that played host some of the most important physics conferences of the 20th century. While I certainly got a liberal dose of […] history, the excellent upkeep of the hotel and its 21st century amenities were a pleasant surprise. For the rock-bottom weekend rates, you would hard-pressed to find more luxurious accommodations in Europe or even North America. Devamı

The Metropole was lovely and in a great location. So easy to get to a Metro station and go anywhere in Brussels. The hotel staff was friendly and very helpful. Breakfast at the hotel was superb. Again the staff made the experience memorable.
