Sheraton Society Hill Hotel - Philadelphia

We stayed at the hotel while it was under construction and as a result many of the hotel rooms were under refurbishment and several areas were blocked off. I have been to the hotel years ago and it really was a nice place to stay. I would advise waiting until the hotel is done being refurbished. The Starbucks closed at 5 and the only way to get coffee […] was at the bar/restaurant which was very expensive. The doors to the sides of the hotel locked early and the hotel is not well lit around the back, so it felt a little dicey walking around to the front. The pool was great, our kids loved it. Location was in walking distance to a nice restaurant and movies and to the Riverfront. Front desk was more concerned with chatting on the phone with friends than with answering questions I had. I called and left a message with the manager to let them know about my experience and they never got back to me. Devamı

The hotel is conveniently located and the service was excellent. The rooms are tired and in need of renovation.

The bar was very nice, until around 8pm when the construction workers got off from working in the hotel. There were about ten of them, they were very loud and spoke spanish. They were making deragatory comments about women and cussing. if I was not with someone I wouldnt have stayed in the hotel. The rest of the hotel was very nice. Stayed New Years Eve, very nice staff, any issues were addressed quickly and inqueries answered with no attitude, despite the many many people at the hotel. The surrounding area was great, walking distance to the river and fireworks. Very good choice for a very active holiday/saturday nite.

Not a single complaint!

Pros- Good location. Found close parking for $18 a day close by (vs. The hotels $39 per day). Comfortable beds. Nice pool area and gym. Reasonable rates. Cons- needs upgrades (appears to be in progress). Very basic bathrooms with not so great shower. No views. Beautiful Hotel in a great location right in Society Hill and near Old City and the waterfront. However, right now they are undergoing renovations so they warn you about noise and other disturbances. Although we were not disturbed by any of the work, our room had a mildew smell. Not sure if that was related to the renovations. Locatio is a plus. Close to downtown. Parking on-site is valet only, and it costs $32 PLUS $7 tax PLUS $2 tip...OUCH! There is a self park garage a block away. I'll try it next time. Some nice dining options nearby, within easy walking distance. They were doing some room renovations while I was there, so it was a long trek to the room, and the rooms […] do show their age a bit. Beds were hard on my back. Toilet was a lazy flusher, but with a little extra encouragement in the form of holding down the handle, it got the job done. The pool was nice and warm on a cold fall day. The newly renovated restaurant/bar looked a lot more upscale than it managed to be.

Other nearby hotels were at least $50 more per night yet this newly refurbished hotel was nicely done. My only complaint is the very loud noise upon arrival due to a function in the main lobby which lasted only until 7:30pm. For the price, you don't get much room, but that's what happens with inner city hotels. However, they could put a little more effort into maintenance. The shower head and curtain rod were falling off the wall and the toilet ran throughout the night. While the bed was very comfortable, the sheets were noisy--you'd have to see them to believe it. It was a very good hotel and location. I would stay there again if I am in the area.

A couple of blocks from the hotel is the Old Philadelphia area. There arm many cool little restaurants and bars. Fun athmosphere

My wife and I were in Philly for a friends birthday party which was held at an Irish Pub just blocks from the hotel. Hotel was easy access to all historical sites if you don't mind walking a few blocks. The room was pleasant and quiet even though adjacent to the swimming pool. We enjoyed our stay at the Sheraton Society Hill in Old City Philadelphia. There are many wonderful, interesting, educational, and fun areas to visit within a lovely and convenient walking distance. We celebrated a 40th Birthday, ate at an authentic Irish restaurant, and enjoyed a fabulous majic show - all close by our lovely hotel. Also, we had our […] dog with us and he was treated wonderfully by the staff and we had no issues in terms of his walks etc. I would highly recommend the Sheraton Society Hill and I hope to back there in the near future as I felt I was on vacation while only being 20 minutes from my home in New Jersey. I checked-in to a dirty room. They were nice enough to give me a new room and executive lounge access for my troubles. However, my new room was somewhat dirty in the sense of walls and carpeting stained and a bad smell. My friends checked-in the next day and had stained carpeting and walls as well in their rooms. The internet was very slow- I tried […] it in the executive lounge and business center, I could not run internet on my computer or plug into work at all because there was not enough bandwidth. Finally, I requested (via concierge) booking on an airport shuttle service the hotel recommends. They allegedly made a reservation for me for the airport shuttle and advised me to wait downstairs at 10:10 a.m. The shuttle never arrived. At 10:45, afraid of missing my flight, I tried to get a cab but the hotel staff was too busy to assist me, so I had to walk 2 blocks to find a cab with all of my luggage in tow (on cobblestone street). The stroll to Independence Hall had tons of cool diversions, views, ending on the dock.

The beds are sooooo comfortable.....like sleeping on clouds!!!

Very good, but as I have stated, the pool could use a really good scrubbing. The location and hospitality of the staff was great. There were a few problems with the room such as a stain on the carpet, broken clothesline, old looking bathroom appliances. Parking rates have risen since the last time we stayed here, still a great deal. The only problem we had was the shower head was broken and the air conditioner was so loud you it would wake you when it came on.

great stay, room service guy is absolutely awesome (asian gentleman). We were able to walk out the front door, walk over a highway via a walking bridge and, in less than 5 mins, we had perfect seats for fireworks. Only drawback was that the hotel couldn't keep up with the towels in the pool area, but short of that..., fantastic

The hotel is excellent but marred only by a door next to the business area, leading into the kitchen, that slams incessantly and is a source of great annoyance..

Very nice neighbourhood, hotel is old and not very well maintained. Staff is neglecting, breakfast is VERY basic!

The Sheraton Society Hill was the perfect choice for this mother's day getaway. Everything beautiful about Philly was within a 10 min walk, the staff was incredibly polite and the room was great. I have friends in Philly and would go back to the Sheraton.

This hotel is decent. Safe neighborhood; close enough to walk to many of the historic attractions; lots of restaurants around to choose from. When checking in, I'd recommend seeing where your room is on a map of the premises - if you can, don't get a room that opens to the atrium, you'll hear the conventioneers boozing it up all night. I recently stayed at this hotel for a conference. The internet was down the entire weekend. Upon asking the front desk about it, I was told that I could contact AT&T directly to inquire about the hotel's wifi problem. This was also VERY noisy hotel. The middle of the hotel is open and there's a bar on the first floor and if you are anywhere near the […] balcony, the noise carries really loudly. I couldn't get to sleep before 1am any of the three nights I was there, and I was awoke about 1:30am one night by the noise from downstairs. My AC unit was also prohibitively noisy. There's also the very strange problem of the fact that there is no way to walk up to your room. All of the stairwells lead outside the building, none of them to the inside of the first floor. So, you have to take the elevator to your room every single time, which is time consuming and ridiculous, since I was only staying on the second floor. I will not stay there again. It was a poor trip and when I asked about the above issues with the front desk, no attempt was made to address my issues or move me to a different room. Devamı

They are doing extensive renovations, or at least they were this past weekend. We were awoken by a fire alarm triggered by the construction early in the morning. After this, the nearly constant jackhammering outside our room made it impossible to go back to sleep. staff very unfriendly

It was a very pleasant experience indeed. Hotel has excellent facilities, and you can even walk to most attractions in downtown Philadelphia. The staff were extremely helpful, polite and very professional. I will definitely stay here again and would gladly recommend it.

For one that wants to tour historical Philadelphia, this is the ultimate location. Most historical attractions (Independence Hall, Constitution Ctr, etc.) are within a very short walking distance, and arts/shopping is roughly a 20 minute walk. The hotel was beautiful and in great condition, the rooms were lovely, the atmosphere pleasant, and the service […] great. Case in point: They didn't have a fridge available, so instead offered to store our perishables in the restaurants fridge. However, there was some construction going on in the lobby. Also, the concierge wasn't overly familiar with some attractions, so plan your trip ahead of time. All in all, it was a truly pleasant experience. Devamı

Very nice hotel, extremely clean and spacious but they did not honor my reservation request for 2 double beds. They told me they would send up a rollaway bed but they never did.

The place was quite comfortable, close to shops and restaurants but far enough away from downtown to make it quite at night. The starbucks in the lobby is clutch, one less thing you have to find before starting your day.

We booked an expensive Club level room. On arrival, room not made up from previous guests. Moved us to a different room at 9:00 PM. That room was much smaller. Between my wife, me and our 2 kids we literally had to travel single file between the beds and the dresser. We brought the problems to the front desk. They made it clear that because we booked […] through Hotels dot com, the Sheraton, although thet wanted to, couldn't comp our stay. Pillows could have been better. Parking prices were a little steep. Other wise it was very good.

A bit pricey but ok for a hotel in a nice neighborhood. They really should tell you that many rooms face the interior of the hotel, so that your room can be seen at night by people in the lobby if your curtains aren't drawn. I was at the hotel for a conference and there was some construction going on. Valet parking is pricey and I was not aware that […] there was another lot nearby... Overall a nice hotel.
